Don't know why it wants access to my phone calls. Uninstalled immediately.
Start the app, and fist thing it asks is permission to access and manage my phone calls! Why does the app ask me for this private information?
Wonderful app although I don't see how a premium version would be worth 20 a year when you can do the same thing with other free apps. I can see 5-10 a year. Should be $75 dollars for lifetime $15 a year and $5 a month. U will be amazed how many ppl pay the 5 because they can't afford $15-75. I would buy $75 but still you would get a few $5 months out of me. Make this a thing n u get the extra star
Good concept mediocre execution.... Needs two things for me - first when it crashes continue story from where it was up to, and second remember where the read is up to when exit g so can come back and continue, like a bookmark...
Never made it past the ridiculous permission it requires the owners of the app want to manage your phone calls and read your messages. Are you kidding me? I recommend to Google to remove this app from the play store. UNINSTALL!
Idk bout y'all but it was exactly what I wanted. With zero effort, I get news every morning.
Never made it past the rediculous permission it requires for the ability to manage and make phone calls in my device. Seriously?! Someone please explain why that is necessary for a news app!
Somehow this app keeps jumping to next article before it completes the current one.
First time I used it it was great and then I tried to use it again and it keeps saying cannot locate server even though I had a great connection. I tried it on Wi-Fi and LTE so I'm not sure if it'll work again
I love using this app to hear some of the day's news stories during my commute. Unfortunately, the app consistently crashes after listening to several stories and after pressing 'pause' and swiping to the next story. Also, the app seems to be working extra hard and tends to heat up my phone at a concerning rate. If these issues were repaired and addressed with an update, I'd give Newsbeat 5 stars all day.
Doesn't have Fox or Drudge which are the 2 I like to read. Deleting app
I was hoping this app would be politically neutral, however it appears the editors based on their writings are significantly left of center. If I wanted to hear right or left wing news, I have plenty of better choices for either. I am disappointed they do not just report the news. Last, the limited number of free articles is an annoying.
I have now reviewed this app three times, my last update was April 2016. At that time, the app was unusable due to crashes and stories failing to load. Haven't used it since then, thought I'd give the app another try today (9/1/16). Still gets through maybe two stories at most before the app just closes itself with no warnings or error messages. Just stops. Find a different app, these developers have no clue what they are doing.
Sharing doesn't send usable links to articles anymore - they just link to Newsbeat homepage.
I've got some serious concerns about your app. It seems like everytime I open the app the first story starts and then it's cut short because it has to push the local weather through. often times it will cut other stories short because it starts a new story. I've also noticed when you click an icon in the pop-up notification on your phone to choose the story often times it does not go to that story. I hate to say it but your app needs an awful lot of work. Has this stuff ever been addressed before?
One of the recent updates has Newsbeat auto launch your Play Store and go to one of their affiliates like Uber. Annoying, but I can close it. But recently it tried to auto launch into an infected market link which was malware-ridden. Uninstalling and never using it again.
I wish the app read the entire story rather than part of it.
Two years later, still no offline mode, no speed selector, narration is way too sloooooooooow
Really buggy! Can't get it to run smooth
Great app, similar to defunct Umano. I wish I could make my own Playlist and save the articles that I like. That would be a 5star app.
Inexcusable data hog. You need to figure out what is going on or make a "wifi only" setting. This app wasted 4 GB in less than 45 minutes of total listening.
Really needs a pull to refresh option for whenever the information in the app is outdated. Also, would be nice to have Sections so you can hear just the news of a certain section that you may want.
The app doesn't read the full article. It reads half. That's not what I wanted lol
articles aren't very informative or relevant. not much about current events and topics that are important. mostly editorial or opinionated.
