Newsy: Video News

After install it said it was for an older android. It starts up but won't play anything selected just a blank screen and gets stuck there, have to force close it. Looks like Newsy app needs to be updated to catch up to the newer version android. Best to stay with an news app that has an active developer. No sense keeping it installed. It was last updated 4 years ago. What a shame.

At first I thought this app didn't work with Chromecast but I realize now the Chromecast icon will show up AFTER commencing playback of an article. I'm very happy to see that, even as a video app, it connects to all my Chromecast Audio devices too which is excellent for listening to Newsy throughout the house. The continuous play doesn't work though so I'm knocking off two stars. Solid news without the gimmicky theatrics and ugly biases makes this a winner.

Newsy is normally a good informative source of news, but I'm forced to give it a 2 star rating because lately it is failing to autoplay properly. It doesn't flow smoothly from item to item... It hangs like its waiting for something. I'm forced to go into settings and force close the app and then reopen it to get it to continue. Please fix this and I'll up my rating to the 5 it deserves to have under normal circumstances..

Needs a setting for either videos to not autoplay or barring that, for them to always start muted. Tried to give that feedback through the app but the feedback function is broken. In fact the app has not been updated since 10/21, so it appears it may be abandoned by the developers

DOESN'T WORK ON TABLET! While the front page displays, tapping on an article just produces a black screen and the app is locked up. A news app that doesn't work with a tablet is worthless! It is the best way to view news content, NOT a smartphone! My recommendation: DO NOT INSTALL! This is one of the worst written news apps I've yet encountered...SORRY NEWSY!

Only one thing wrong. You open an article and start reading without the sound and when the video ends it jumps to the next article before you finish. You have to continuously pause the videos before you start reading.

This app, even upon first installation, states its an older version and to check for an update (this isn't one I can find). After installation, while playing a video, will time itself out and phone goes black. There needs to be an update for this to work correctly. Big fan of Newsy, not so much for this app.

I really love the format of Newsy. Unfortunately, it's a little glitchy on my phone. It skips a second of the video here and there. But I really like the diversity of topics covered and how quick each story is.

Great content.....if you can access it. The video is slow to load or doesn't load at all. It's great on TV and your desk top, my favorite place for news. Wish the app was reflective of the quality of the content.

I love the content on newsy, wish there was more variety in global issues though. I also experience technical difficulty far more than I'd like and the app shuts down on my Android phone frequently. It has fewer issues on my Roku and on my iPad though.

Needs a lot of work. The only customization settings are for notifications. No dark mode, no way to dismiss or exclude certain news categories. Within one minute of install, the app crashed while performing a search. Installed on an S21 Ultra. Uninstalled.

I really like Newsy but as much as I want to like this app, it crashes every time I try to load a story. I am giving it two stars because I can still read the headlines. Hoping for an update to fix the glitches soon. Please!

The app itself isn't 100% bad, but casting to my TV from the app rarely works and it's frustrated me to the point where I may just uninstall it. The share button also doesn't use Android's built in share function where you could share to anywhere, it only can share to Facebook, Twitter, and Email.

Trustworthy source, but app needs to be updated. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with an up-to-date software version. This app is not compatible... very "moody"... i.e. sometimes it works, other times it freezes. ALL my other apps work fine.

Doesnt work on Note 5. You can open the app and see the list of news stories, but if you click on one it takes you to a blank black screen the app hangs in limbo for a few minutes before Android asks you to Wait or Close App. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success.

Sadly, I no longer use the mobile app. On my phone, I prefer to READ my news, not watch it. This has just video content. Please hire some writers in addition to anchors. I like the video content on my Roku. Great content though.

Love the show on TV but for some reason my Pixel 2xl phone won't let me view anything or contact NEWSY. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just another effort to keep people from finding the TRUTH. The 1 star is for Google that says I'm not connected to a data plan. Complete BS. If it's on NEWSY's part, please update so I can access on my phone.

Hasn't been updated in two and a half years, and no live streaming available. Would drastically increase the value of the app. I really enjoy watching the channel I'm thankful my carrier offers. Would like to always be able to have it with me.

Newsy leans towards very predictable liberal one-sided reporting with their posture almost always favoring a typically Democrat liberal view which gets them to be, predictably boring. Usually when the story starts out that way I just cut it short and move on to the next story that I might have an interest in. In short it has a great platform for news of Interest , but in most cases not worth viewing.

Newsy covers a lot of important, and interesting things. NOT constantly just repeating the same stories over and over. And, it's free!

Only issue I've had was it sometimes has issues casting to Chromecast. It is not a Chromecast option, it can go from your phone though. The connection lags in software connecting to Chromecast.

Crashes. And i hate auto play. Would rather read the article. Will re-install after they add a setting to stop auto-play of videos. Until then it's gone.

This app on my Samsung Tablet is and has been terrible. The screen goes blank when I try to access an article. Not again! I have complained, updated, etc and it fails to work. Goodbye.

This used to be a go to news app but needs a severe bug fix of repeating what was just broadcast. Meaning consecutively repeating news episodes right after another literally. Kinda annoying (is this ground hog day!)

Headlines are great. Just cannot read the articles. App closes as soon as I touch any hyperlink.

Just like everyone says here, the app keeps crashing and is completely useless. I've got a new S21 with updated software and this app just can't keep up. Had it loaded for 5 minutes and already uninstalled it. Total waste of my time.

It's refreshing to read news that aren't filled with biased views. Quick question though: Big fan of your documentary content in desktop. Any plans to make them available on the mobile app?
