Welcome to the Dark Ages. After being a Nest user for years the Trane Home app is a shock for how archaic it is. The Good: It works. I can change the temperature relatively easy within the app. Just very little thought is given to how the App looks/works. I found that switching to Dark Mode adds a few aesthetic improvements in some areas. The Bad: The "History" section is a nice summary of what is wrong with the app. Microscript, horrible bar graph, labels irrelevant to my system.

Since moved from Nexia there's been multiple issues (No running history now). I can no longer see how long my system ran regardless of if I switch from week to month mode in the app. All it shows is blank information. Kind of defeats the purpose when I'm having issues with the system right now. This is caused by not persisting login it looks. So I have to logout and log back in.

Almost useless now. Alexa integration rarely works when controlling lights/thermostat or anything app related. If things do work with Alexa, there is a delay of several minutes. And those horrible door/window sensors. Why the heck do they have to send a notification every single MINUTE repeatedly when the tamper alarm within the sensor goes off. I was out of town and couldn't even use Android auto any more. I was a getting texts every single minute and no way to stop them!

For its main purpose of a remote thermostat control, it has worked well and is easy to use. But the runtime history tab has annoying errors in the recorded high and low Temps, which are way off the mark. I'm not sure if the problem is in the local device (thermostat or sensor for example) or the app, but if so, perhaps the app could filter extraneous data, leaving the user with useful info.

I'm having the same problem as others. Recently, the phone app temp and temp setting always show 70, which doesn't match the thermostat. However, it allows me to interact with the thermostat and change the setting, but phone display does not reflect the change. Events still display correctly. This just happened over the past few days, perhaps related to the late January release.

Update: terrible time trying to reconnect to wifi. I go through all the steps accordingly and it delays then times out then refuses to connect. Any tips? Nexia app switched to Trane Home today and it was so smooth! I didn't need to log in to the new app, all my info, including schedules for my HVAC, were all saved. Like, we may as well call the app Google because it was easy breezy.

This used to work like a charm, now my app says the system is set to 68 and the the temp in the house is 70 even though neither is the case on the thermostat. I refresh and nothing. I can change the temp on the app but nothing happens and it reverts back the 68/70. I've deleted the app and deleted and signed back in and still the same thing.

WORKS FLAWLESSLY FOR ME! For those who said 'it would be nice for Trane to suggest'... They do have support videos, tutorials and THEY ACTUALLY ANSWER PHONE CALLS TO HELP WITH ISSUES! Who does that anymore? Have used the website also & never had a problem with it either, only when loosing power at Home between the Router and Service Provider. But no fault of the app or website really. Who cares about the way it looks, really people? It functions and just works!

Update. For those struggling with connection issues as I was go into your thermostat z-wave bridge and unregister. Then go to add device and re-add your trane home app device. So far mine has worked as it should. It would be nice if trane would suggest this. They would probably have a lot less poor reviews.

When it was Nexia it was flawless. Once the app switched over, I no longer get notifications when my schlage door locks battery is low and within the app, it always shows my door locks at 100% battery no matter how long the batteries were in. I recently had to break open my front door because the battery died and the app didn't notify me that battery was low and I did not get an email notification that the battery was low like Nexia always did. This app needs to be revamped ASAP.

Helps save energy. I have total control of my Trane Heat Pump system at any time from anywhere I have internet access. Also, I can review my system running time over a 12 month period in order to taper usage if I need to. Love this app !!!

As a Nexia app it worked fine for seven years. As a Trane app it worked for awhile on my cell phone and then I couldn't connect. I had to uninstall the app then reinstall. This worked for a week and then stopped working. As long as I can fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling. I guess I'll have to live with it. But I agree with other comments that it worked better as a Nexia app

They replaced my unit in one day. I like the programmable feature with the smartphone. The other unit was very old, and this one has saved me tons of money on my electric bill.unbelievable.

Works great especially if we are not home and need to regulate the temperature before we get home. Even just laying in bed and the temperature needs adjusting...very easy to use.

Sus. R. Mar 27, 2022

Love being able to ask Alexa to set the temperature and change it from work. Having the schedule is great it warms up the house before waking up while keeping it cooler at night for sleeping.

Sco. Mar 2, 2022

Works great UPDATE 5/14/2021 Still works perfectly. UPDATE 3/2/2022. System still runs perfect. The company who installed it still calls every year to make sure it always runs perfect. CS is just as important as the product bought. 5 stars to both Bell Air Co & Trane A/C UNITS.

I love the fact that I can change the thermostat remotely if I forget to change it before leaving and I can change it back before returning home. I also use the permenant hold feature instead of setting up the away schedule. However, the schedule set up on app could be a little more user friendly. All in all, I still love it.

My 2-yr old Trane/Nexia has been running flawlessly since I added the app 3 months ago to my new router & smart phone. I love being able to watch the status/history/logs/change settings from afar or from my couch! That is all I need at the moment. The router is only 12-15 feet away from the Nexia unit with a strong signal. Set-up only took 4-5 minutes. It has never dropped out or not responded to my phone! Perhaps I'm running on an older Nexia program if that's even possible. I love it!

Cou. P. Dec 12, 2021

New app is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting the bridge at least 10x a day, the response time lags, the bridge disconnection breaks automations like the porch light that is set for on and off at sunrise and sunset. Thermostat information is incorrect most of the time. Constantly times out or errors when just changing the temperature. Worthless app that I pay $10/month not to be able to use. I WANT A REFUND!

Does not have the ability to set a timed temporary hold temperature. My old Honeywell I could adjust the temp until a certain time, then it would automatically go back to the schedule. Very nice when staying up later than usual in the winter. The Trane will only go back on its own at the next schedule change. Also does not display correct for modulating furnace. I have XC95M and the history shows heat stages 1,2,3 but modulating does not have stages like that.

Worked fine when it was nexia. Whatever update was done recently has caused it to not work at all. It says to check my wifi connection and I have verified that my wifi connection is fine as all of my other devices are working and have a connection. If my phone has wifi and all other apps work then it's clearly this app that has a problem. Please fix this as the whole point of the app was to enable smart features and remote controls.

Dav. D. Mar 21, 2022

UPDATE: This app is useless making the "smart" thermostat now useless. Alexa no longer workers, scheduling no longer workers. Might be time to dump TRANE home and buy something else like Ecobee or Nest. Honestly I don't like the scheduling interface. Very annoying to use.

Lui. C. Apr 16, 2022

Great app, never had any issues, can control my AC units from anywhere as long I have internet connection of course. Easy app to use.

Jam. C. Apr 4, 2022

This works with a thermostat that is overpriced because everything is proprietary. The thermostat has minimal documentation so it is impossible to replace without an expensive service call.

Dan. R. May 29, 2020

The user gets to change temp settings remotely (assuming the thermostat is connected to wifi), which is incredibly handy when returning home from a trip! There's a learning curve however, in figuring out how to set the automatic schedules, which explains 4 stars instead of 5. Also, it is hard to find when I need to change the filter (except) on that day, since the notice is at the top of the screen making it hard to see.

Art. L. -. p. Apr 4, 2020

Two big problems... (1) Setting up a schedule is very difficult to understand and to do. Moving times around is counterintuitive. Setting a time near midnight is off the edge of the screen. Very frustrating. (2) For a given day/time, the settings for A/C & heat must be at least 3 degrees apart! You can choose an auto mode where the thermostat can switch between the A/C & heat schedules automatically. But if you don't want that, they still have to be 3 degrees apart... and that's a lot!

Dav. G. Jan 25, 2020

Functions perfectly. No problem with running the schedule that I enter. Having access to adjust the temperature when away for vacation has been quite nice. I simply put a reminder on my calendar for an hour before I am going to get home and go into the app to adjust so the house is back where I want it when I walk in the door. For my recent trip, I saw that there is a way to program vacations on the home t-stat control unit. I used that and it worked well. Couldn't find it on the app though.

Mic. B. Aug 28, 2020

Overall the app provides a very useful set of tools. However, scheduling is a train wreck and has been for quite some time. The scheduling UI is difficult to utilize and understand. It's simply makes no sense and is difficult to set up, navigate, etc. Would be helpful if you engage with actual users as it relates to the scheduling UI.

Very good so far. I upgraded the original thermostat to a XL824 so i could control the temp from afar. This home is our vacation home in another state so it's convenient to see it while away and adjust the temp before we get there. It's also nice to be able to see the usage and the outside temperature trends while many states away. Thank you for a easy to use app.
