NextApp Keyboard (KitKat/AOSP)
This is a BETA RELEASE of this app. If you experience issues with it, please report them to [email protected]. It's extremely difficult to have a conversation using the Play Store review system.
This version comes with English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, and Spanish dictionaries.
I would greatly appreciate feedback on the keyboard layouts, including the arrangement of special keys on the alphabet keyboard, symbols keyboard, and function keyboards.
Function Keyboard
This keyboard includes a function key ("Fn") toward its lower left corner which can be used to access many additional keys typically found on a PC or Mac keyboard, including:
• Cursor Arrow Keys• Page Up / Page Down• Insert, Delete, Home, and End.• Function F1-F12.• Ctrl and Alt• Tab• Escape
The fundamental QWERTY keyboard layout has been very slightly tweaked to more closely replicate that of a PC keyboard. Specifically, the size of the left shift key has been reduced such that the third row (ZXCVBNM) is no longer overly shifted to the right. The shift key is now a standard sized key. This modification only applies to phones (the AOSP keyboard already uses this layout for tablets).
Permissions
This keyboard is based on the AOSP keyboard from Android KitKat 4.4. It uses identical permissions to that keyboard. The "read contacts" permission is used to autocomplete names from your contacts. This keyboard DOES NOT send any data to anyone.
Optional Features
This app will have also have a paid version when it exits beta. BY DEFAULT, ALL PAID FEATURES ARE TURNED OFF IN THE BETA. Paid features cannot be used unless you check the "Test Features from Paid Version" in the settings. If you enable paid features, they will only work until the end of the beta.

Great editing options! Has spell suggestion & voice to text. Easy to read keypad. The editing shortcuts are super functional for working inside documents. PgUp, PgDn, Home, End, Navigation arrows but they seem to work differently depending upon what application I'm using. The navigation arrows work fine but Home, End, PgUp, PgDn vary. Toggle to switch off vibrate, & resizing options would be a plus. I'm using it on LG Fiesta with Android OS 7.0
I use NextApp to replace the Samsung keyboard on my S8 plus. With every other app, NextApp works just fine. But when I use Firefox Mobile in combo with NextApp, the backspace key is virtually useless. I have to make corrections using back arrows and the forward-delete key, or else highlight the block of text to remove and forward-delete that way. Backspacing through one or more characters will often cause an entire string of characters to duplicate. It's not uncommon to correct a word and then have multiple parts of the word appear out of nowhere. Hoping someone else has an idea of how to fix this!
A 10-stars app! I love the idea of CTRL keys the way it is implemented here. It also has arrows, Fn keys, whatever you desire - very well designed fot a small screen. To top it off, the keyboard size is also configurable. It does have settings for many languages. Thank you for the excellent keyboard.
Unfortunately, the emoticon selection is much out of date. Additionally, a set of keys to insert zero-width joiners, as well as variant selectors (including for the text variant) would also help with creating emoticons from components so only non-combined emoticons need to be included. It would also be nice to switch the keyboard emotes to alternate styles, like the Twitter style; as the Twitter style is what most of my apps use. Overall, it's otherwise very good.
Great keyboard. Has all the keys i need and lots of size customizability. Even on Android 11, still my favorite keyboard option. Only issue is after upgrading my phone, seems the keyboard suggestion knowledge didnt transfer. It offers almost no suggestions when typing beyond a few very basic words. If i coul figure out how to transfer that from old phone to new, this keyboard would be perfect
Love it! Ive been looking for something like this since the first smartphone! Its SO unnatural to type with other keyboards if you are proficent at using a full size desktop keyboard. Home/End, Arrows, ctrl, shift highlighting, copy paste and other ctrl functions, undo/redo, select all, tab and alt keys FTW!! My only issue is that im not seeing any suggestions despite them being turned on. Autocorrect is also not working. these are ,uch needed bc they keys are very small and hard to hit
I have installed this on all three of my mobile devices. It is sound & solid technically. I would give five stars if the predictive capabilities were enhanced. I loved (still love) my Samsung TabE keyboard for its functionality (backspace, delete, etc.) but was unable to find comprable funcrionality for my other 2 Samsung phones. This keyboard provides that across all my devices but really lacks in predictive text & spelling / word suggestion capabilities.
I'd give 10 stars if I could. Exactly what I've been looking for. And free! Better than Clavis calling theirs free then trying to charge over $5 for it. And their layout stinks. This one's great. Autocorrect as good as my S7. And all the features of a PC. Great job!
Very good Keyboard. I have been using this keyboard for a long time. I only have one request. If possible, in the next update, can you add a Clipboard Button to access the clipboard easily? I think this will be very useful because some to most phones need to long-press the screen until we can open it. Please add this button. Thank you 😁
Has a lot of potential but autocorrect is inaccurate and fails to work is certain apps like Google Play, also lacking long press symbols and gestures (drag left to select and delete, swipe down to hide keyboard, swipe up to select all or show symbols, drag right to select, hold spacebar to enable dragable cursor control? So many missed opportunities).
This keyboard, complete with Function keys, Ctrl, Alt, etc., is great for remotely controlling a PC from an Andriod. I'd gladly pay for more features, such as the ability to swipe words (like the SwiftKey keyboard), provided it's a one-time payment.
Exactly what it says... I wish it had swiping for the letters, but really not that important for what I mostly tested it for... I still prefer a physical Bluetooth keyboard, but this looks like it'd help in a pinch.
This is by far the best keyboard I have found. Best option set without overkill of options. Usable layout, and the ability to add arrow keys and ctrl/alt in the manner GOD intended! Seriously, no ads either. Thanks NextApp developers for this great app!
1000 fold improvement in accuracy and ease over MS Swiftkey which is now totally messed up. Navigation keys are just fantastic. I have only one grouse. May be think of it as a suggestion. Why not add Gujarati as one of the available languages? I bet there are more people who read and write Gujarati than half the other European languages offered here.
I love this keyboard! I don't have to hunt for punctuation, it's all exactly where it should be. The only complaint is that it randomly switches to the simple keyboard. There needs to be some kind of setting to never use the simple keyboard.
i love the app but most shortcuts don't work with the TeamViewer android app when accessing any host remotely. so all keyboard combos don't work, not a single one, just single keys are recognized, please fix?
Is sneakily my most used keyboard. I have tried may greener pasture, feature packed, slick keyboards, but this seems to pack just the right amount of pizzaz, and racing stripes that pushes out in front of all the others. Thanks
I was searching for a keyboard that has a tab key only for typing purpose. I think I am very lucky that I got this keyboard. This keyboard not only provide me tab key but also copy/paste key, select key, ctrl key, cut key, function key, arrow key and many more. Earlier I was only using laptop for typing slides and documents, but after installation of this keyboard, I can do all that works with mobile at anytime, anywhere. Heartful thanks to the developer of this app.
Only app with working tab key. It would be great if you can you add setting for tab key spacing. I badly need it now. Other things than that are pretty much fine, though I'm not much fan of themes…
Really good keyboard! I like the old android style, the arrow keys, and the amount of customization and settings. I have this keyboard on all of my devices.
Perfect for VNC Viewer. The only downside is it doesn't send real keydown/keyup events for modifiers (you can't do ctrl+drag or similar things with it).

Jina suite for the Gold, in pursuit of CS past present future, I use and study apps. Many flavors of App 'Organization" and also key, the gui suites your preferences and style. 5 Stars... App organizer, Jina suite for the Gold. If not only used app source categories ie app stores, if added scraping better completely categorized www software sites, also, I think it could completely sort anything, even option for choice of soft. site to scrape categories from. Then Id envent an app emmy!
in my opinion, the opimal qwerty layout would have 5 rows (the 5th from bottom being a choice of either numbers row, f# row with alt and esc , or the arrow keys), ctrl instead of fn, optional autocorrect, tab always above shift, and backspace always above enter. if number key is 5th row from bottom then the 4th symbol row must not be numbers. if the 5th row of alpha is not numbers, than 4th row of symbols should be numbers.
Out of all the various touchscreen keyboards I've tried, this one is the best when it comes to direct typing without any kind of autocorrect. It took a bit of getting used to it, but now I can match the ease and speed of typing on a physical PC keyboard (almost. Somewhat. A little bit at least). It has an extremely useful undo button, the cut and copy paste buttons, the arrow navigation buttons, and much more, all laid out in a way that utilizes the touchscreen instead of being hampered by it.
