The business ad creation process is smooth and intuitive. The payment structure is dodgy. For business pages that post ads, it says that you will be charged $X a day for the ad. However, you are charged a one time payment at the start of every month, where if you did the math, it comes out to $X/day. The description of a created ad is a $/day amount along with an option to "pause spending", making you think that it is a daily charge when it is not.

I tweaked the notification settings turning off almost all except emergency & direct message. However, "Next Door" seems to think it knows best and continues to send a "just in case you missed something" notification at least twice a day. I'm perfectly capable of checking the app in my own time. Every app seems to think it's more important in your life so just can't help pushing something onto you ALL OF THE TIME. I am fed up with it. My peace of mind is important. This piece of s___ is not.

The recent "update" in May seems to have removed all the functionality of the app. Neighborhoods, events, neighbors and even the Nextdoor contact and help section have all disappeared. It is basically useless at this point. Very, very disappointed. Except for posting there is not much left. The whole premise of the original app was to bring neighbors and neighborhoods together. I can't find a way to use this now.

I am Uninstalling. I live in a dense residential area. I selected only the neighborhoods relevant to me. Instead of just showing me what I want to see after providing the option the app adds in neighborhoods miles away that I have no option to de-select. On top of that it is now showing national level posts. Useless and not at all what the purpose is.

Words cannot express how bad the UI and the push notifications for this app are. I made the mistake of not listening to the other reviews and tried the app anyway. Big mistake. The UI looks like its from 2012 and the settings do not adjust the feed preferences or notification preferences at all even after restarting the app. I tried to deactivate my account so I can stop all the email notifications I shouldnt even be getting but the app literally did not allow me to push the button to deactivate

Really great idea but the app is a mess, the main feed is visual nightmare, navigation is sometimes tricky. It almost causes physical pain to look at and use. The repeated ads? i mean wow! And when you look for help you are just told something along the lines of- some companies just want to reach my neighbourhood more often. Really, do they? An aquadrome 200vmiles away wants to reach me 6 times in 12 posts do they?

It's handy to see what's going on locally if you open the app and scroll through but useless overall trying to look up specific news. For example, if you get a notification and select it, you would expect to be taken to that particular post but instead you are taken to some other random post. If you then try to search for that post it's nowhere to be found.

Yeah, after months of a persistent "updates you may have missed" notification, I finally go and look through the notification settings. When I see a list that long and NOWHERE see anything mentioning this persistent notification, I know they have no interest in giving people the ability to actually scale down notifications. It's absurd. Also the posts are largely either toxic or irrelevant info from miles away. The concept of the service is cool, but boy this has gone downhill over the years.

Honestly I used to love this app. It was so easy to see what was going on in just my neighborhood. Unfortunately, It is so overly complicated, difficult to navigate, and dificult find things I'm looking for now, that it is a headache just to look at it. Not to mention the feed has an overflow of ads. Before anyone asks, im usually pretty good with apps but this just made my eyes cross.

Aside from it being a straight copy and paste of facebook, it doesn't let you follow the neighbourhood you live in, but it signs you up for everywhere else in your tiny, bioted town. It also doesn't allow you to report misinformation unless it falls under a very narrow and specific set of categories. The settings you change may expire so they can push more garbage on you. Very on brand for facebook. You get the same type of people as you get on facebook as well, of course.

I have been using the app with little to complain about for months, but there is a bad bug in the "For Sale" page now where the "Closest/Newest" sort options don't work after the update, I tried reporting it and it was not dealt with seriously at all. The question closed after 2 days without any acknowledgement of the problem, I was just told to uninstall and reinstall, which I've done and obviously didn't fix the bug, and then I got no further response when I replied to that. Please fix it.

They make it so difficult to turn off notifications. There are so many different menus where you have to dig into turn off notifications for the individual part of the app. Even if you dig through the settings you'll probably still get notifications. It's pretty infuriating.

Edit. Somehow worse at acceleratorating pace. Becoming less useful as time goes on with more ads. Can't see map of neighborhood with addresses to contact certain neighbors, turning in Facebook with garbage newsfeed instead of curated list based on my preferences. It's now just not something to use for real neighborhood stuff, and instead is becoming Facebook local edition.

Great for connecting, but a bit clunky interface. If I save an item for sale, and it is sold, it should not keep showing up in my 'saved' especially after I've refreshed the page and gone into the listing. It makes it very confusing to know what is really available.

Unable to filter posts from most recent, feels useless when trying to find something from this week and posts from months ago are mixed in. There is an option to change your feed preferences, but not your search preferences for some strange reason. Will delete asap, it is extremely frustrating to the point of being almost unusable.

Horrible app. Incredibly slow to access settings, especially notification settings. Littered with ads. Continuosly asks me to sync my contacts which I don't want to do, but it asks me everytime I open a post. And trying to use the site from a browser is deliberately slow to force you to use the app. Good idea very poorly executed. I'm uninstalling.

I do not like the recent updates to the market place. When scrolling threw the ads now it just stops and takes you back the the top. It seemed to have cleared the recent ads the were put on there. It worked great before and was one of my favorite apps. Don't fix something that isn't broke just so you can say you made changes.

Biggest complaint is that there doesn't appear to be a way to sort the posts. I keep seeing the same posts, some are months old. As I scroll down I see newer posts buried in the timeline. This makes the app not very useful or relevant. Also, there are more ads than actual posts from neighbors. Recently it has started crashing and has to be restarted, which is annoying. Overall it is not a user-friendly app and could stand some tweaking.

Started off as a good idea but has fast become more like another Facebook app rather than just local issues. It is meant to be monitored but it is not done strong enough and has also become a platform for people putting on YouTube videos which have nothing to do with local issues. All be it not too many at the moment. It has got slightly better for this so at least it is being monitored a little. But could be better. Far too many ads now too. Has become really annoying.

Something happened with this app in the last six months. I think it needs a serious update and refresh. I am seeing some bugs such as notification icon for messages, always on. No way to archive messages to turn that notification off. Everytime I open the app, it now lands me to an older post. Not to the current topic of the neighborhood. Something happened.

I like the connections the app generates. However, notifications have been an issue for the 3 years I've been using the app. Never receive push notifications and email notifications are sent days or weeks after the relevant post was made. The numerous In-app notification settings are enabled and the notification permission is allowed in phone app settings.

This app used to be somewhat useful but now its just turned in to neighborhood facebook. There used to be better moderators that could help weed out the posts that clearly don't belong but now all I see are ads and posts that are pointless or from weeks ago. Also you can't turn off notifications no matter what you do. And my email box is flooded with pointless notifications even after I turned off all notifications from nextdoor. Not even worth downloading this app.

Way too many ads. The news feed is useless because it posts stuff from all over the country and every other post is an ad. I went into feed settings to change it and it's still bad. Plus, feed settings only stay updated for 60 days, then revert back to default. That's ridiculous and a way to spam people over and over.

Updated: I reinstalled for a specific purpose after a year or so. Technically it is improved, functionality to stop the hundreds of pointless notifications now exists so that's a huge improvement. BUT this is now pretty much an advertising app. I would say my feed is 90% selling. And 90% of those are either self proclaimed beauticians or handymen. So no, not really worth the space the app takes up.

The app was ok before the latest update, now it's pretty much useless. Every 3rd post is an ad, it's basically impossible brows my own neighborhood now, all the notifications are irrelevant and/or from people on the other side of the city. And with all the supposed improvements there is still no dark mode.

I really want to like this app but there's so many issues with both the app and the site like the fact that no one can delete another app not even the group creator. When I used to be a feature that would allow you to print out invitations for Nextdoor with a code for your neighbors to up wish this was still an option. It also seems that although it says that there is an option to send free postcards to neighbors, the option to select neighbors to invite is no longer there.

I think this app is way too glitchy and unreliable. It always says there are new posts even when there aren't. Sometimes you'll get notifications on a post you interacted with and sometimes you won't. Occasionally you'll get notifications for posts that you have never even seen before. And there are definitely lags in the notification updates even when manually checked.

The email spam from this app is atrocious. 5+ emails a day. Unsubscribing from your email does not work. Settings in the app will not stop the emails. Redownloading the app just to see if I can easily delete my account. Will never recommend. Also recently talked my HOA into discontinuing use of the app since most everyone else has the same problems with spam. EDIT: There is no way to delete your account and the option to deactivate your account is not clickable on android.
