Doesn't work on chipped animals in the UK. Obviously meant for USA pets.

As some others have mentioned, it's quite simple to enter the details of my Labrador into the app, and then to sync it with the tag. It's a lot less troublesome as compared to getting the microchip replaced (as the latter's data can't be changed easily), and the microchip can't store as much data as well. The option for notifications on its birthday was a nice touch as well.

Making users buy proprietary tags is an artificial constraint and user hostile.
