This is a widget for your homescreen (desktop). To use it, please follow these simple steps.
For newer versions of Android (e.g. 4.0), you may drag and drop a Nice Simple Photo item from the Widgets tab of your app list to the home screen. You may refer to this demonstration video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXAWx7gsJ-o
For older versions (e.g. 2.3.3) you can long press (i.e. tap and hold) on any empty space on your home screen, then select Widgets and choose a Nice Simple Photo item.
Different items correspond to different widget sizes.
Tapping the widget will open the configuration screen. You can configure the widget and browse the photos which are in the same directory of the currently selected photo there. You can add more than one "Nice Simple Photo Widget" to your home screen and each of them can have its own unique appearance settings. *NOTE
* If the photo does not update properly, please exclude this widget from any task killer app that you might be using. You can also try to remove this widget from your homescreen and add it back again, and see if it solves the problem.

I have used this app for several years, on different devices and have had minimal trouble, until recently. My picture dont display, but if I tap where they are supposed to be, the widget opens and all the settings are correct. I am at a loss and ready to uninstall the app.
Still works great on Android 8 Oreo. It might look outdated, but it's polished, and once you have the widget set up, you won't have to touch it. It shows either a static photo or a slideshow of all image files from a folder (with or without subfolders), and you can set the change rate. Like the title says, nice and simple. I don't know how well it well it works on newer versions of Android.
Truly Nice and Truly Simple. This app is nice because it does just what is supposed to. It's like setting down the photo of your choice in a frame on your home screen. The settings are user friendly with several viewing options, opacity settings, frame settings and more. This app is simple because it is easy to use and set to your liking and there are NO ADS. Ever. This is a quality I do really appreciate with more and more apps that seem to be 90% advertising and 10% app.
I used to love this app. Very simple and I have used it for a few years to display photos in a little frame on my phone screen. It seems like it is now not being maintained. Your photos will appear and then dissappear randomly. I have to keep resetting the photos. Very frustrating and barely good enough to use. Fix please!!!!
Something has changed, and now the words click to set up are stuck in the middle of my page, after no problem for over 2 years. My picture is where itvwas always been, I haven't changed anything, nor tried to place a different picture. I want the dumb words off the middle of my screen. I may have to delete app to accomplish that. I need a remedy!
I've had this app for years to keep a 2x2 widget sized pic on my homescreen. For the longest time, I would have given 4 stars with my only complaint being how easy it was to accidently change or remove the pic. But good, overall. Recently, however, I set a pic and it disappears when I wake my phone back up. I have not been able to rectify this. As such, had it not been for my prior good experience, this is now a 1 star app.
Not so simple after all. Initially worked great, but frequently would lose the set path to my pictures. Recently, won't do random play at all, or change pictures on tap (as set). Simply stays static on the first picture in the selected folders (so, seems to access the folder!). Tried uninstall-reinstall-restart a bunch of times, still not working after lots of fussing. Will delete app and look for another. Any suggestions (something actually simple, and reliable, please)? I'm using Android 9.0 (Pie).
Love this app and have used it for years but after recent sw upgrade on my phone pictures are disappearing constantly. Have to open it and toggle settings to get them back but sometimes it's only good for a few seconds. It appears many others are having the same problem so I hope you are addressing it with an update. It's a shame but I might need to move on.
I love this widget! I would rate it 5 stars, but will there be an update to this widget to fix the problem I am experiencing? Just recently after a Samsung galaxy S9 update, my banners disappear and reappear off and on, and sometimes the widget doesn't work properly when I try to use it to change my banners. I also received a pop-up message that says this widget is compatible with older Samsung versions and may not work properly. Hoping it can be fixed.
Great app/widget for viewing your favorite photo(s) on a home screen, without having to open your Gallery. Photo is always there for you to see and enjoy. Can set up a slide show, but I use simply for 1 static photo view. Easy to change the photo. Limited photo editing, and photo border choice (width and color). I use on a Galaxy S8+.
Not so simple, it's definitely not user intuitive. There is no simple method to just place a photo and be done with it. I am tech-savvy so I can work around it, but may not be 'easy' for others. I tried adding the photo of my choice and there is no button such as "apply" so when exiting the app thinking it may be set, the widget gets buggy and either makes me set it up once again or displays a previous photo I have set. Do not recommend just because the name of the widget app is quite ironic.
Displays transparency in image files! I've used this app for a while. Its simple and easy to use. It says it contains ads, but it doesn't effect how the widget is displayed at all, so don't mind that. I never thought much of writing a review, but recently I was using it, and had a lot of empty space in a photo hiding a lot of my wallpaper. I decided to try and edit the photo, removing the background and keeping the subject. The widget read the transparency! That's fantastic! Thank you!
Was great on my Samsung phones but not on my OnePlus7 pro. Photos go invisible everytime my screen goes off although the widget remains in place. I have to touch the widget and go through the settings to "wake it up". I use this as a quick mini portfolio of my work to show clients so it's embarrassing when I have to mess with it to get the photos to display. Please fix so I can continue to use.
I loved the app for displaying 2 favorite photos on my screen. Since I updated my phone last night, the widgets disappear when I switch screens and go back. From reviews, this has been happening since at least December, yet there is still no update. I can't use it anymore unless it is updated.
Love this app! Use it on all my android devices! But noticed an issue ever since the Android 9 (Pie) update. At times the image/s will display as they normally should but sometimes the images seem to vanish (blank screen space) after phone unlocking. Than after some time / after numerous phone locks - unlocks the pictures will all re-appear back as they should display (which is kinda strange *shrugs*...). Hopefully this could become fixed.. as your app is sort of a life safer for people who like images / wallpapers but still like to be able to see app icons / read app text / etc...
Used to be such a fantastic app. This app used to work flawlessly for years (I only used it to display 1 photo). However, for the past few months, it would be glitchy and often not show unless you reset the photo. Now, it doesn't show at all unless I reboot my devices (phone and tablet) and/or remove the app and add it back... But even then, it disappears hours later. I'm really quite sad because it brought me such joy seeing my son every time I opened my device. Might as well remove it.
Used to be a good app I used for years, however you need to update it. I tried turning on the no sleep in settings but that doesn't work. The photos will not stay on and it's not worth the time it takes to keep going to settings to put the image back on. This app is nearly useless. I only gave two stars here because of how much I enjoyed it in the past. Real rating would be 1 star (because required). If you don't want to maintain the app I would suggest removing it. It's just disappointment now.
This app has worked beautifully for a long time, but started to intermittently display photos in my pre-set widgets after a forced Android update this morning. The Android update is the problem, not this app, therefore I'm still giving (this app) 5 stars. I do hope the developers can offer a bug fix soon as I would love to continue using their app.
Easy to use, however, my Android phone recently did a system update, and now all of the pictures that I have installed through this widget on my screens disappear and reappear at will. Seems there might be some sort of problem with the updated version of the Android operating system.
I've been using this widget for years now and have never experienced any problems. I just recently did an update on my S9 Galaxy and now the pictures I have displayed disapear and reapers countless times a day it's very frustrating. I really like using this widget and have been unable to find another that even mounts up to this one.
It was a 5-Star. Simple, but did what it said, and was used friendly. Now, since the most recent Android update, the pics constantly dissapear and/or get mixed up, so now it'snot even worth 1-star, unless it's fixed with an update. Unfortunately, this company has not updated this app in 4 years, so, while I'll hang onto it for a few weeks to see if the pics stop disappearing, I'm planning on looking for something similar to replace it. Taking recommendations...
This has to be my favourite photo widget out there, but unfortunately the developers stopped providing updates and the widget no longer works properly. Freezing, disappearing, photo selection won't save, and sometimes it just reverts to the 'click me to set up' instructions. Please fix the widget!!
No way to save settings. I selected a picture, cropped it, pressed the Back button as I didn't find a Save button ... and couldn't get the widget to display my picture. Uninstalled. Furthermore, in the settings, the opacity of the picture is frozen to some 70% - a cheap trick to make us buy the full version ?
Looks really good but has a lot of issues. At pretty much any given point, half the photo widgets I have set up just aren't visible. No ability to refresh it unless I restart my phone completely. They look really slick when you get it set up, but it's super frustrating with so many just not showing a good 90% of the time. Update (Feb 2021): android 11 update completely broke the widget app.
This has been my "go-to" photo widget for years, but with the latest update to Android, it no longer works properly. The pictures keep Dissappearing, which is the only purpose of the app (to display photos). Please update this app so it can remain one of my favorites and I can return it to 5 stars where it belongs! 😁
This is my favorite photo widget. It's just perfect for the side shows I like to keep on my home screens. I have a new phone now and the widget won't stay on the home screen. It shows up where I put it sometimes and more frequently it's not there. Any chance you can update it to work with newer OS's?
Loved this App! I've been using it for years, and it worked beautifully for me until last month. Now my pictures keep going invisible. Makes me sad not to see them anymore. I loved seeing my favorite photos/collages of my friends and family, special memories, and inspirational quotes on my home screen. I loved the features this app has. I hope it gets fixed.
