I love being able to remote set temperature control and remote lock on occasion. The app is not super responsive and is a bit flaky, so doesn't get full marks. I usually have to open it and wait 30 seconds or so to get the connection to wake up and be usable, or it won't do anything, and it's hard to tell if it actually worked when I tell it to start or lock.

Has trouble refreshing, wish it had Temperature controls for the climate, very basic app in my opinion. I was also surprised that some of the features are behind a paywall. ( I'm currently in the trial. for that) but it is quite disappointing I had a Ford escape none of their features were behind a paywall.

Barely Usable, Despite Great Potential - It takes a solid minute or two to get the car's climate control turned on, with a failure error about 50% of the time that requires retrying. Unlocking/locking the car doors also takes a solid minute or two. The feature set of the app is awesome, but it takes so incredibly long to do anything that there's a fair number of occasions that I avoid using it because I don't have the time to invest in trying to get it to work.

Frustratingly poor performance and lack of features. It functions slowly which is understandable since it requires satellite radio to make the connection, but in this day of ever present cellular service it's surprising that they haven't moved to that type of connectivity. The time it takes to connect seems so long by today's standards, sometimes up to a minute. And it needs more usable features such as a charging shut off as well as charging start. And for four days now it hasn't worked at all.

Excellent idea, but poorly supported. Having used the app to turn on climate control, I'm sitting in a 20 deg car with iced over windshield. Even though I got flashing check marks, the app history shows no action. Sometimes it works, including starting charging, other times it won't even connect with the car. I greatly prefer my other car (Chevy Volt) with climate control in the fob. Never fails.

The app has completely stopped functioning. Last successful comm with the car was 2/22. It went from working half the time, to now not working at all. Getting the "unable to reach vehicle message," which seems to be common in other reviews. I saw another review that indicated AT&T shut down the cell service on 2/21, but I thought these used SiriusXM signals? Whatever it uses, it doesn't work.

The application is slow and clumpy. Also since icons could be used to state if the doors are locked or not. At this time, the only option is to use the lock icon to possibly re-lock the car. The stats could also be visible on the main screen. A simple UI redesign is needed

Leased a Leaf in December 2021. App worked on my Pixel 3 XL for some things but would NEVER show me the charge level. An update fixed that but wiped out my saved login data. Now today I've just gotten another forced update and it simply will not go past the login screen. Completely uninstalled and reinstalled, but no difference. Utterly without any value whatsoever.

Used to just be very slow to load, log in, or do anything else. Now it won't log in at all. Already reinstalled the app, switched networks, and checked my internet connection. Fortunately I'm still on my free trial but this app needs some major work. Haven't you people ever heard of regression testing? Android 12, Pixel 5

Terrible app, takes forever to refresh and does not provide basic features like being able to set a timer to stop charging. Remote charging start does not work most of the time and there is no option to stop charging at a percentage less than 100.

Garbage. There are soo many short sighted problems with this App. I will update with a laundry list later. Do yourself a favor spend the extra money for a Tesla Model 3, it's not that much more but the car and App are at least 10 years ahead of Nissan. You will be glad you did, I speak from experience! Feb '22 update: I didn't think it was possible but this app is getting even worse now it just sits on the opening screen and doesn't load, Data is always outdated, and refresh doesn't work!!!

The app is still not working. To any new Leaf customers, just sort these reviews by most recent to see how bad this app is. Love the car, but this app doesn't work. Just to vent a bit more, even the days and times listed in the app for phone support aren't correct. Also fun, it appears to prevent any third party apps that used to work from being able to access the data. NISSAN, you built a nice car. Why do you support it with this useless app? You are failing to serve your customers.

On January 13, 2022, NissanConnect customer support told me, AT&T no longer supports 3G service used by my 2013 Leaf's telematics unit. The whole system has been relagated into obsolescence and is no longer useable. Rest In Peace: NissanConnect, you never did work reliably. In the past, when this app would fail, I found there are two methods that would sometimes get it to work again with my 2013 Nissan Leaf. 1) Try “Send ID and password” (detailed instructions below). In case the first option doesn’t fix the problem try: 2) disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery for a few minutes and reconnect, then retry “Send ID and password”. Here’s how to “Send ID and password” for early model year Nissan Leafs where “NissanConnect” was originally called “Carwings”. Press the button labeled “Zero Emmission” located bottom right side of the display screen. Touch “Carwings” Touch “Carwings Settings” Touch “Sign in” Touch “Send ID and password”. This assumes you had already input your ID and password and it previously worked. You’ll be prompted with, “Is it ok to sign on to the account now?” Touch “Yes” After a few moments you should see and hear, “Connecting to center” then “Your account has been activated”. Hopefully, these steps will restore proper functionality of the app.

I like having the app and use it to warm or cool the car. however, this app is slow at communicating, and on occasion I send a command only to find out it never went. Update: logged on this morning to warm up my car before heading to work just to fine that the app needs my Vin number, because you know I haven't been using it for well over a year. So after entering the Vin then the app needs me to prove I own my car, something I already did. Now to wait two days to be verified.

Slow and doesn't work. 95% of the features doesn't work and app is super super slow. It takes forever to refresh the status of the car and also the battery.

Mar. H. Mar 24, 2022

App stopped working 2/22/2022. Called the hotline. Apparently its not compatible anymore for cars older than 2018. Something about using a different cell network. So now I can't use it at all with my 2016 nissan leaf! If you're in the market for a used leaf, see if you can get a better deal because there is neat functionality that you'll be missing.

Gre. B. Jan 14, 2022

This app is very slow at telling me the charge level of the car, it's the worst part of the Leaf. It can take minutes to load the data, every time you open it. Also, there is no button to stop charging.

Eri. E. Mar 27, 2022

Just read the bad reviews. I'm having all of the same reported issues. It's super frustrating. How can an app like this be down for entire days at a time? Now it's showing charge status from January; it's almost April. Still love my LEAF despite this horrible app experience.

Kei. B. Dec 30, 2021

Very slow and annoying to use. A few weeks after I bought my new car, the app broke completely. After hours on the phone with Nissan Connect, they said my car had a hardware problem and needed service, despite the fact that everything else worked (including the SOS button). After waiting 2 months for the parts to arrive at the dealer, surprise! The app starts working again without the replacement. Thanks for the waste of time. Naturally, they've never owned up to their mistake.

Jul. B. Jan 7, 2022

The app was good for the first few months. Now it never updates the information no matter how many times you try and refresh. At one point it says the information was from over a week ago. When it's not updated nothing works. I can't see the proper charge, I can't unlock the car from my phone, and I can't use climate control on these cold January morning in NY. Very disappointing.

Nat. P. Feb 19, 2022

If you fight with it enough, and wait 30 seconds for it to update status, it will let you check on things and control parts of you car. But now in 2022 it fails 100% on the login, just spinning.

Rob. D. Jan 16, 2022

Just a poorly designed app. Looks the same as it was in 2011. Poor interface and connectivity to my vehicle 2022 is sporadic at best. Major Nissan fail.

Mar. L. Apr 18, 2022

Very slow and doesn't always connect. Why not just copy the Tesla app? How can you expect to compete with this shoddy app?

Ran. Sep 26, 2021

Update 9-26-21 the app just keeps getting worse. Now it won't even run, it just crashes when you try to start it. I hope the people who wrote the app are never allowed to work on the car's software! ! This has to be the slowest most unreliable apps ever. It maybe works 1 out of 5 times and it hasn't updated the battery level in over a week. The climate control hardly every works and yes it is in a great coverage area. I only hope my car is more reliable

Aar. L. Apr 16, 2019

I can only give it two stars because you can actually do some things with it (lock/unlock doors, beep the horn to find your car, and a few other cool functions), but it's incredibly slow and unreliable. It can take up to 90-120 seconds for it to update my car's charge level. Unlocking the doors or doing literally anything else takes a while, too. From what I've read, it sounds like part of the problem is that the app can't just connect to the Leaf and get the info it needs or perform the task you've requested. It has to send the request and wait for the Leaf to check for new requests. And it seems like the Leaf just doesn't check often enough. I'd wish it just checked every 5 seconds rather than every 90 or whatever it is. I'm tempted to give it one star because it's incredibly frustrating to use, but I have to give it two because it does eventually do the thing you've asked it to do...most of the time.
