NJM SafeDrive

The app makers NEED TO DO BETTER! I'm new to this plan, and I was trying to set up my account so that I can earn my discount... but, I can't get past the screen that asks you to create your password. I keep trying to click the "complete activation" button, and it won't let me move forward. My email is valid, the passwords match AND meet the requirements, but I still can't go forward! I can tell that there is a message behind the screen in yellow, but screen rotation isn't possible!!!

Not a fan of this app. Obviously I liked the idea of receiving a discount, since insurance is not cheap. But, it shouldn't count your speed against you if you're going 10mph or less over the speed limit (and keeping up with traffic). Also, the scoring is inaccurate. It dings me for "cornering" when it definitely shouldn't have. It also says I used my phone while driving, which did not happen, so I got points deducted for distracted driving. It's not worth the frustration. Deleting.

crashed and no longer loads. good idea. bad app. yhe app seems not to have been a problem but maybe doing maintenance on the other end on the app server. perhaps a message other than a generic error would be better when that is happening. I agree with some of the other review that the app interprets hard braking when there is no hard braking events. one in which on my last trip where I did not even touch the brakes.

Poor design. Does not take other drivers into account when scoring your trips. UPDATE: Good to know that reviews are being considered. If the interface worked better and I could justify when other cars (or deer) cause sudden braking, I'd feel more comfortable using it. Seeing how your driving is affecting your billing would also be a welcome addition.

Does not work like it supposed to. My first day under NJM auto policy and happen to make a 77 mile trip to Montclair, NJ. It recognized and captured my trip there, but nothing for 77 miles on return trip. Apps parameters are set to very extreme for braking, acceleration, and cornering, I consider myself a very good defensive driver with a very clean driving record. NJM needs bring major improvements to this app. There are pretty good reasons for such low app ratings.

The app does not reliably remain loaded in the background on my particular Samsung device, even with battery functions turned off. I have to manually start it before I drive and I rarely remember. I'll try to automate a task as a workaround, but the app does not support this device well.

In the beginning it recorded every one of my trips then in December it stopped showing trip history yet claims to have recorded, however in logbook there is no records for December trips. Also too often people who pull out in front of me or stop suddenly or other unforeseen reasons causing me to have to break suddenly always causes me to lose points. I do not even tailgate yet I lose points. The app is a good idea but needs work. Especially recording trips.

I gave this a 2 because there is no 2.5. My primary problem with the app it doesn't take into account the driving conditions I am dealing with. Several months ago I drove to AC in an unbelieveable downpour that unusually lasted most of the day. In both directions I had to avoid huge puddles. The app interpretted this as 25-35 min disraction each way. In fact my focus on driving was intense. Recently had to respond to other drivers driving aggressively. Interpreted as 29 sec of dist. driving.

The data the app aquires is very flawed.The parameters are very unrealistic,almost feels like it was designed by someone in an office instead of actual real world driving experience.Some of the flaws include being flagged for distracted driving while my car is in park at a drive thru or stopped.Inaccurate speed limit parameters,the app does not update municipalities that increase the speed limit on their roads during the nonsummer months.U have to take a turn slower then 8mph not to get flagged.

Downloaded the App but it seems to record sporadically. "EDIT" function won't allow change of email address. Taking points off for hard braking due to other drivers careless driving is unfair and shouldn't count against good defensive driving habits. This app needs imorovement

First, app. didn't work after initial install. Second, each time I drive app. doesn't work automatically. Third, each time I drive I manually select "Find my car", and app. works some of the time. Fourth, now app. doesn't work at all, and I can't login to app. after several attempts to reset password. Fifth, a message states to call NJM for assistance. Sixth, I called NJM, spoke to someone who referred me to someone else who couldn't help because an outside vendor is involved.

This app is useless it records trips when im in bed sleeping. The app records when im not driving yet theres supposed to be an option for you to choose when youre not the driving( i have never seen that option on the app) Youre supposed to be able to look at your trips yet mine is never available but the app tells me my trip was detected... Just a complete waste

Doesn't work. I have it downloaded and have followed all of the instructions. There have been a couple of times when I am driving it tells me it's tracking my drive but it never shows any information anywhere on the app. I have been using it for a month. The other drivers on my policy have had the same issues. We use both Apple and Samsung.

I've had some difficulty with this app. I was a passenger in someone else's vehicle, the person was driving like a lunatic, cutting in and out of traffic, speeding. Not 5 or 10mph over the limit, I mean they were doing 30mph over! kept moving their phone like distracted driving. I tried to go and change the log from driver to passenger and my vehicle to someone else's and it wouldn't let me.

Shows results from 2 months ago not current trips. Get notice results soon, click and it's still showing months ago. Have tried deleting and reinstalling, had no effect. Start working again in July ??, no trouble with it now.

This app does not function on every drive I make. I just drove to & from home to Delaware and location on no power save on and wifi on for whatever reason that has to be on yet it didn't record my trip and I've noticed this before since signing up & after speaking with another rep for the 2nd time we tried troubleshooting the app only for it to still not work.. NJM will cancel the discount if they think your not driving but how do I prove I'm actually driving buy the app isn't working correctly?

Not a useful app if you live in the city. In the city there are stop signs on every corner and little streets to navigate. Every time you go out this app tells you that you are stopping to often and cornering because you need to traverse a lot of little streets and make frequent turns while navigating traffic. I told the folds at NJM as much.

This app says I'm driving while sleep. I happen to wake up out of my sleep from a call in my phone and the app was in progress... Like what??? I'm in bed and the phone is in my night stand recording a trip!!!! This app needs a over haul ASAP!!! SO MUCH FOR A INSURANCE DISCOUNT! THANKS

Hello, I keep getting a low score because of "cornering" which is inaccurate by the way. On top of that, you have the NERVE to be sarcastic and tell me that I should be a NASCAR driver. For your information, I'm NOT cornering ANYTHING. I'm dipping and dogging these potholes the size of tires. If you lived in Newark NJ and traveled through East Orange NJ you would know this. This app is proven to not be accurate at all. oh and by the way, the app should start recording the trip right away.

Can't tell the difference between hands-free navigation & "real distracted driving". App tends to lock my phone as well. It becomes "non-responsive" & i need to reboot & suspend NJM SafeDrive to restore normal phone function.

It detects incorrect speed limits, and reports distracted driving when i get out of the car and walk to the mailbox. It reports this, and makes you look like a horrible driver for no apparent reason.

this app does not take into account the bracking and acceleration when your going down hills or up hills..so it gives a lower score ...if the speed limit is 35 for instance and then your going down hill it changes to 25 mph you need to brake a little harder to do the 25mph downhill..or ride on your brakes which wears them down more

Wish you would make an app so I could review my insurance policy and make payments. Instead of sending physical mail to my house and logging into your website. These are all things of the past. As fast paced as this state is a majority of NJ State procedures are archaic. Get with the time NJM all the other insurance companies are already doing it.

This app needs improvement, sounds good in theory but only records partial trips, traveled a long distance 2 weeks ago and app never recorded, had phone plugged in including using GPS mode while mounted in holder on dash.

Lost points for being on phone at a burger king parking lot in drive thru looking for a coupon and at my destination when I was park this need work. I also lost point for speeding but speed limit 55 all the way does go to 50. Edit: account wont stay logged in and wont track due to issue

The app crashes on drives more than 20 min and doesn't record anything from the trip. I have even granted permission to run in the background and that still didn't work

Can't get pass the "Complete Account Activation" ... i hit the button, nothing happens. Yes, email & password is accurate.

If you're driving in an area that has traffic lights and you need to stop; it gives you a terrible score on breaking. Also when people cut it in front of you and you have to hit your break it affects the breaking score. 🙁

The app crasshes every time i try to view trip details from the logbook. I see an overall score but unable to view any other reported info on how I drove. Using Samsung S10+.

Definitely not taking into consideration that an Electric Car trends to accelerate faster than a gas powered car. Coming from a company like NJM I'm surprised how poorly the app has been designed since the company does insurance so well maybe in a year or two it will get better but definitely not ready for prime time.
