One-hundred-and-thirty respected Bible scholars, church leaders, and lay Christians worked for seven years with the goal of updating the vocabulary and grammar of the King Jame The men who were invited prepared the guidelines for the NKJV. The aim of its translators was to update the vocabulary and grammar of the King James Version, while preserving the classic style and literary beauty of the original 1611 KJV. The 130 translators believed in unyielding faithfulness to the original Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew texts including the Dead Sea Scrolls. Also agreed upon for most New King James Bibles were easier event descriptions, a history of each book, and added dictionary and updated concordance. According to the preface of the NKJV, the NKJV uses the 1967/1977 Stuttgart edition of the Biblia Hebraica for the Old Testament, with frequent comparisons made to the Ben Hayyim edition of the Mikraot Gedolot published by Bomberg in 1524–25, which was used for the King James Version. Both the Old Testament text of the NKJV Audio and that of the KJV come from the ben Chayyim text (known as the Masoretic Text). However, the 1967/1977 Stuttgart edition of the Biblia Hebraica used by the NKJV uses an earlier manuscript (the Leningrad Manuscript B19a) than that of the KJV. The New King James Version also uses the Textus Receptus ("Received Text") for the New Testament, just as the original King James Version had used. As explained in the preface, notes in the center column acknowledge variations from Novum Testamentum Graece (designated NU after Nestle-Aland and United Bible Societies) and the Majority Text (designated M).

Absolutely love this version of the nkj audio bible but I only gave it 4 stars because it keeps stopping in the middle of the reading and it wont go in order, I start on a chapter and then it skips chapters. I tried uninstalling and then installing it worked for a day and then it went back to not working correctly but I love it so much that I just put up with the imperfections.

It's my favorite Bible app with the exception that it doesn't play smoothly (and has gotten worse). It regularly just stops and I don't know where it left off in order to continue. I hope you will fix this as I'm ready to find another app because of the constant interruptions. The music, narrators and sound effects are the best (so I hope it will be remedied).

The app has has been skipping. I've used it daily for years w/o any issues. I unistalled it & tried unsuccessfully serveral times to reinstall it. It just spins & doesn't download. Sent an email asking for assistance. Still awaiting a reply.

GREAT APP! I like the sound of the voices and sound effects. IT IS BETTER THAN OTHER NKJV AUDIO BIBLE APPS! This free version has some glitches and I like it because it is free but for those who are willing to pay for the ad free/glitch free version, it is The Word of Promise NKJV Bible app. It is the best out there!

I would enjoy this app much more if it worked properly. It skips entire sections occasionally, and it buffers and stops, saying it can't access audio files. Other than that I love it.

This is a great app and the audio version with the background sound is awesome. I didn't give it 5 stars because it tends to take a little time before it buffers and begins playing. once it starts, it's very smooth with no issues.

love this app.wish it would pick back up where i started listening to instead of starting over each time its used...i love the dramatic of the sounds and voices...seems real...love to put on ear phones and meditate on the word of God..

Narration is great, it's like a dramatic reenactment. Only thing I don't like is that app doesn't seem to save my place of where I stopped listening. Occasionally it does, but usually not.

I do wish this app was more interactive. Or maybe I just don't know how to use it right. Searching by words or partial sentances would be so helpful. A concordenance. Help finding things for new bible readers. Thank you for this though. I'm thankful. God bless.

Before I could even see the app, there was a poll to vote on whether or not the Communist enemy of America is doing a good job, without any option to choose No!!!! Uninstalling this app which is punching support for treasonous trash!

Entire chapters throughout the Bible do not play. Like John chapters 15 &16. Other than that, it's great.
