Nice simple free weather app. Not sure why the widget takes up so much space on the screen (2x2) but then only displays one piece of information (temperature and rest of the space is empty).
Gets right to what you need most. It is free. No ads. No subscription fees to get details offered for free by the weather department of the US Government. The government provides free weather information for everyplace in the US. Greedy companies block this information from easily being shared and instead repackage it with apps that have adds, and other data mining tools, as well as subscriptions to rip us off for information our government wants to provide people for free. Support NOAA.
I'm a long time user of the NOAA website. This app consolidates the information I normally look for in a consise and visually informative manner. Nicely done!
This is exactly what I've been looking for! An easy to use weather information app with data from NOAA.
Please change the name on the icon from "NOAAWeatherWidget" to "NOAA Weather". There's no reason for the word "Widget" on the icon, and also, there should be a space between NOAA and Weather. I'll give it 5 stars if you make these changes.
Perfect! Just the weather report from the NWS; no ads, no fluff, no bells, whistles, or BS to chew up battery life and phone function. It's great, and it's EASY. You can either let it find your location for you (and I don't) or just enter whatever location you would like the report from and it pulls it up the current weather, gives you the 10-day forecast, offers the forecast discussion, and radar. You can toggle between each with the tabs at the top. It's fast, it's smooth, and it loads refreshes on the last location's weather report that you looked at each time you open it. I wish more apps were designed with ease and function as a focus like this rather than around graphics and bloatware.
App has accurate info from NOAA Weather stream, but the layout and arrangements could use some work to be more useful. The addition of the widgets is a big plus, kudos for the work you put in for the improved functionality. But my tablet (Samsung S2 9.7" T318) is not able to change the widget font colours, and this is important cause the default has almost zero contrast to my wallpaper. Probably cause of the fact I am on Android 7.0, but still it should work. Keep at it, it is a good start 👍
I really miss the old NOAA weather app. I use the widget because it has the most accurate temps, but the rest is lacking. You can't expand the daily forecast to get a better view or more info, there's no severe weather alert option and the radar is a joke. Radar is zoomed into a large portion of the country and I can't get it to show where I live. Hitting an arrow shows a different section of the country, not just a little further south.
Incredible! I wanted a simple widget to show the current temperature in my area, but with this I'm also able to display the dew point or one of any number of specific metrics right next to it on the home screen. Usually the dew point requires many steps to find, even with bookmarks saved. (Dew point is important to know whether or not high humidity means muggy, unpleasant weather.) And no ads or other profiteering noise/clutter from AccuWeather or TWC. Thank you!
I used this app about 5 years ago in Anchorage Alaska to detect and predect snowfall amounts. I used it all the time and it was the best app for weather and the most accurate you can get. I just reinstalled it and though the format is different now it is still the best app you can get. I would highly recommend. I tried other weather apps that show you nice pictures but those apps are full of ads and will automaticly redownload when you try and delete them. Also they run your battery down fast.
Perfect! Does exactly what I'd expect of a weather widget. Gives super quick weather forecast hourly for today and the next few days, and a daily forecast for the week. I don't need the details , just tell me if it's going to rain ! And this App does ! And because it's minimally complicated, it opens and loads fast.... Update -- please go back to satellite view. Update - Satellite showed the whole country. Radar shows limited quadrants.
Not much to it. Simple, easy. I love the cloud cover map the best
Since I am a weatherbuf and have attended a weather spotter class, I find this very valuable and helpful.
Great app. Please setup a payment option so we can at least contribute.
Thank-you! When I realized that the National Weather Service no longer supported their app that I've used for years, I was very disappointed. I rely on the forecast discussion to understand the certainty of any given forecast. You have provided that, the forecast itself, the ability to see other locations, and the radar-- without fluff. Perfect!
I really value the written discussion on NOAA Weather widget app.. Also the forecasts. I do not like that it frequently will not load onto my phone. Message is.... " An error occurred retrieving the observation reading from the NOAA API. This problem usually resolves itself in a few hours..." Sometimes true, sometimes not true. Today, Dec 13, 2020, app has not worked for at least two days! What gives??? A few months ago I finally uninstalled/installed that app a couple times & it then finally worked after a number of days. How about some reliability, please.
This needs a more simplified view so it's easier to locate important information and separate it from frivolous information. There is no widget. I told it to use my location and I am in Colorado the app put me in Maryland. There is a plethora of information. But it's all kind of glum together especially on the website. And I think the worst part of this app there is no widget. I have to open the app and school to find my weather instead of having it on my homescreen easily accessed.
I had this on my old LG and also have it on my new phone. Wiped when I switched carriers yesterday. Had to reinstall and noticed the criticisms. Gets five stars from me just for giving me data without the accompanying advertising BS I have to deal with on Accuweather which is excessively cluttered. Just the facts ma'am. I still go to Accuweather for future monthly data and future projections. Thank you.
no advertising and all the details straight from the NOAA. The only functional government service lol. the other apps get their data from NOAA and package it and bomb u with advertising and stealing your data ... with your permission of course. slide left or right. the menu headers are not active. would be great to have F/C at the same time for some of us.
Enjoy total pixelation when trying to see an approaching storm. This is beyond useless! With the previous version rotation, bows and hooks were easy to spot. This one will likely get people killed. Congratulations on screwing up! I'm dumping this garbage and going somewhere else.
NOAA is a relaible source for information at the website , but the Widget lacks any feature . It only created shortcut back to website.Save to favorites in your browser to do this , and dont wast phone space or process till they improve this widget .NOAA Weather Widget is supposed to be a feature that is embedded to device , like providing a desktop display that runs off of background process , to provide real time stats and not as a shortcut.
This is a great and simple app which presents the forecast nicely. NOAA website is not mobile friendly, so this is really convenient. As author noted in comments, you may have to manually enter you location in the search bar at the top if it can't get location from your device.
While using this app does has best advantages and not so great advantage while using using this weather app for three months straight of checking the weather day by day and week by week needs to be better program where a pilot can see from his or her phone what a team see from national weather service meaning the weather radar needs to be change two views one you can see a tornado, hail, blizzards, other severe can of weather.
little rough around the edges. lightweight, but gets the job done without ads and other annoying distractions. would be nice if you could configure what you would want to see in the forcast.
Just installed and I like it so far. Clean format, easy to find what I want to focus on. Very fast & easy transition between the different locations I'm interested in. Thanks to the Developer!
I can't believe NOAA doesn't have a weather app. This app is slow, won't show forecast for different locations, radar cuts country into quadrants and my state is cut in half so it's difficult to follow radar when it finally came up.
Simple layout and no ads. Only drawback is that it's much slower to load than other weather apps. Edited: It loads much faster after the update. Thank you!
The app is great. No annoying ads and very accurate forecast. After the developer added wind speed (it is important in our area) I believe it became the best weather app. Thank you!!!
NOT A WIDGET! Cannot search for places like your comment responses claim. One location keeps coming up no matter what I search for, and no matter how many times I delete it. And it is not close to my location.
Good app, I wish the radar had longer predictions of weather ie... over several hours not just within an hour. I also wish the radar had different speeds. I really enjoy the discussion section. I find that the weather predictions are very quite accurate.
