Your touch screen becomes a real musical instrument with NOISE, which lets you shape sounds by drumming the screen, gliding your fingers along it, pressing into it, and lifting off. You make music through intuitive gestures on a grid of colorful pads. Each pad is a particular instrument or a note in a scale.

NOISE makes you both a performer and a producer. Start by choosing from custom-made sounds that range from bongo drums to string sections to zithers. Shape those sounds into beats and melodies, and record them as loops. Then mix and match these loops and build amazingly multi-layered songs.
DESIGNED FOR LEARNERS
If you love listening to music but don’t think you can play an instrument, NOISE may change your mind. It’s a fun, interactive learning tool. In Learn Mode, just trace illuminated Light Trails to learn how to shape beats and melodies. Choose from one of 15 scales, and the notes of that scale light up on the grid. Turn on Hide Mode to always stay in tune — it hides notes that not in the key. Use Snap Mode to stay in time — it snaps your performance to the tempo.

Sounds works just fine on Pixel3A. I get the crackles/distortion/hiss on Samsung GalaxyTab S4. It just depends on the quality of the sound chips in your Android device. The problem with the app itself is that there is no OVERDUB ability. I've watched IOS video and once something is recorded in a loop, the record button should change to OVERDUB but on the Android version, it does not. So it's basically impossible to create a beat since you can't overdub to add parts. This is an oversight by Roli programmers and I would hope they get it fixed.
I'm thankful for having this app, but Roli is clearly targeted towards Apple users. This app is a port of the iOS version and if you are used to material design, you will not feel comfortable with it. App crashes a lot, causes cracking noise, and misses basic warnings like "turn on GPS in order to discover Bluetooth devices" which cost me an hour of troubleshooting. For the price of the instrument, this is not what I would expect. If you don't mind being second class citizen, give a try.
Was unusable for 6 months becaus it wouldn't keep the bluetooth connection. Seems to work ok now. You really need to allow it to be more configurable though. Maybe not to the same extent as equator but tablets and phones are powerful enough now to be able to deal with more than this.
The app has so much potential but it's clear that they prioritize the IOS app over this one. Laggy login and typing but the sounds, mixers, and lightpad work relatively lag free aside from the general bluetooth latency. Roli, please keep optimizing this app. I love your products but hate that the seaboard and lightpad don't work as well on windows and android.
The hardware is awesome. I found that the latency using Bluetooth and my phone was significant enough that making loops was really difficult. Connected to my pc, via USB, and playing though ableton, the latency is totally fine. For playing with instruments, this app is great. For making music, it needs to be improved. I've switched to Roland zenbeats for using the roli lightpad block with my phone.
Worst app ever!! connected my seaboard block after a lot of difficulty as the GPS doesn't turn on itself. The whole app is a mess, it cannot record rhythms, the sound of instruments is less instrument and more noise. Needs a lot of improvement. Please do the needful. Can't wait to rate it 5.
No updates for 4 years, doesn't even list as compatible with current devices. It never worked and roli obviously had no interest in getting it to work. Appalling service. Might as well throw the hardware in the bin, as it won't even pair because it needs an app, which won't install.
Every time I try to make a beat, the audio hisses, skips and crackles to no end! Definitely the app as even does it with headphones. Won't be using this until the audio issues are fixed. It's a shame as I bought a Roli Seaboard Block that I can't even use with the app!
The initial login screen is skewed and unusable. The aspect ratio is off or something. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success. It's clear the developers have abandoned this app. Don't bother with it.
Latency issues like crazy. Even without any paired hardware, no audio out, just using the screen and built in speaker, there is still such an unpredictable lag. This app my be great on ipads and iPhone, but over here on Android, it's completely unusable. Shame...
Tested on Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. Huge latency makes the software unusable, even when using smartphone screen as an instrument. No editing whatsoever, not even a quantize option. And no updates since 2017, which makes me think that Roli isn't even trying. I really hope it gets fixed at some point but now it's just disappointing.
Does not work AT ALL for my OnePlus 7pro. Very disappointed I spent over $500 of my own money I worked hard for for something released in 2017 and still not a finished app. Thanks Roli I did enjoy your product. There really isn't anything like it out there. The seaboard and blocks are great. If you are fine without an app buy these products, if you really wanted the app for noodling around while traveling don't get them there are others slightly similar...
App works on my handset but there is an issue with the drums. The sound comes through either delayed or like it is bit crushed and distorted. Sounds on the synths are fine.
Could do with recent update for better technology anf taking advantage of core more, instead of an update from 2017. Really wish they would make the support as well as the Apple version. The Pixel hardware can run these processes decent, especially the recent ones.
It's gutting how unusable this app is considering how much I've paid for the seaboard block. Latency is appalling and there's a horrible cracking and popping sound when using it which is a shame as the actual instrument patches are pretty sound
I got this product with the understanding that it would be compatible with both apple AND android. It's not. There are more useful (and necessary) features on apple that do not show up on Pixel. Boo
App was better when it first dropped, can't get a grip with the new interface hard to create with. The hardware is pointless at this point...
its not optimized to my phone and i couldnt login , i couldn't see the bottons of any sort all of them were in this weird aspect ratios . i use a samsung a70 i dont think its optimized to fit larger android phones yet . please update
I chose not to buy any of your products because of this app. The audio crackles, has bad connection. You cant type to login. And it crashes honestly this is unacceptable.
I didnt expected that roli will push this up for android but this was something which i craved for a long time.Nice Work Developers but there some issues with the sounds like the Drums and Pads lil stability needed where as Everthing seems to be good and pretty nice.Okay one thing UI must have the vibes like Roli uses premium kind of vibes in their websites and other ios apps where as it is missing in this android. But well Developers KUDOS....Roli is great.
Please fix the app it really make noises while playing. I'm using Samsung Galaxy s9 plus and it reboots whenever I try to connect my seaboard block. I love my seaboard and I respect the brand. thanks
Technical issues prevent use. App is stuck in landscape mode, where buttons are too small to use.
Roland Dude, you gotta stop being an Apple fanboy and treat us musicians who are "non-apple" based better. I signed up and only got kicked out right after I register my Block. The app is slow, unresponsive, and very limited. This does not even deserve to be a companion to the Block
I really want to like this but it's not working, cannot even purchase sound packs. Did I just spend a few hundred dollars on junk? The hardware seems so cool, why this?
Can't even sign in, the display ratio is wrong and the app won't respond to clicking on buttons. Very disappointed.
This app is REALLY bad I couldn't even login because it puts you in landscape mode and makes everything really small I'm not sure if it's just my phone but it's still unexcusable please fix this and I will rate you five stars but unfortunately until then I can't
Doesn't support overdubbing like the iOS version. This makes Noise on Pixel phone completely worthless despite working perfectly.
Incredibly disappointing. Actually impossible to use, cannot believe the state of this app considering so many people that buy Roli products have androids. Was hoping to just be able to use the app while trying to figure out DAW software, but seems like that's not going to be possible for me. Even if you DON'T have the kit connected, the app still pops, crackles, and lags whenever you try to record. I mean, there is just no excuse for that. Absolutely unacceptable.
