I installed this app hoping to communicate with a community of like-minded people. By all appearances, I thought this would be for me. The designer had the best of intentions, I truly believe that. However, the app is deeply flawed. In the journal a keyboard doesn't pop up so the journal option isn't functional whatsoever. Next, messages are not accessible. It shows there are waiting messages, then nothing but a white screen so this option is useless. The designer hasn't updated in a year.👎
Sorry, I hear great things about the iOS app, but this just is too frustrating to use for me. It doesn't work well with my autofill service (LastPass), and long-press-for-edit-menu doesn't work in the text entry fields so it's hard to paste. Last straw was that the time entry isn't standard and you can just change it by advancing 1 minute at a time. This would all have to be fixed before I would use it.
This is such a great tool! Yes, there are some glitch-y things that have been mentioned in other reviews (buttons not really lined up with where you need to press them) but overall it works well and is very handy. It can be used by people who are putting serious work into changing their lifestyle and habits, but it can also be used by people who just want to do a 'detox' and need an app to make the process more tolerable :)
The app is visually nice and has all the functions I need, but the ads at the bottom keep blocking the settings button making it impossible to reset the clock, ask for help, or edit it in any way. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help with this, nor does turning the screen. The ads will not close and if dismissed, Google simply blocks out the area with its own notification. Moving the settings-button somewhere else on the screen would get the app 5 stars
Not all UI elements load in properly. When I first installed it NONE OF the UI loaded in correctly and I had to force quit the app to fix this issue. The ad at the bottom is partially obscured. You need to setup an online account to use this app. Every time you switch pages in the app you need to wait 5 seconds while it talks to the web. When you drag the settings menu up or down it registers the action as a button press instead of a drag. There is so much more but 500 character review limit.
I really like the concept of the app, and overall it has really great features. I, however, am on Android, and navigating this app is a NIGHTMARE. I'll give it a shot for a little while longer, but having to constantly close and reopen the app just to get to the home page is a real drag.
Poor quality app. The ad at the bottom overlaps partially the bottom toolbar making it hard to use the toolbar. Notifications don't work at all -- this app was originally designed for iOS and this port to Android is bad, like I said notifications don't even work. Some of the screens are visibly slow and herky jerky to scroll even on very modern and fast smartphones. Some screens take time to load that makes it feel like it's probably loading a web page off a web server.
I totally give up with this app! Im Constantly having to re-install it! Cant seem to set up notifications and always having to deal with it freezing when app starts up. Im sure this app was made with the best intentions, but so far, its just given me a headache! It really does need a major overhaul with its overall performance and design.
Still not updated for new Android OS. Crashes, difficult to back out of menus, tells you that you can use an option that doesn't exist in the Android version, and has a broken icon. It's a shame. The app looks useful, detailed and motivating but is too full of bugs to use. Forget this mess.
Have managed to set up a clock, but nothing else seems to work at all and once in a selected option (eg encourage), nothing displays so can't even go back, have to close and reopen the app to get back to home.
I find this app easy to set up & use. I like the multiple displays on the dashboard showing different types of progress (which are very encouraging). The option to reach out and speak to others also using this app is a real plus too!
The journaling is buggy and frustrating to use. Id also love for the encouragement wall to be more interactive, for instance more interaction with people so you could ask questions. The clock could be more dynamic with chips at milestones.
I love the purpose of the app. Super helpful, love all the functions. Just looking forward to updates so it works smoothly. As of now, I can't upload a profile picture or search for a new quitting buddy. Overall, still a fantastic app.
This is great for somebody newly sober. One issue I've run into: even though notifications are enabled for the app in my phone settings, I still get told to allow them when I try turning them on in the app. Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960U). Thanks.
Too many times I could not log in. Frequently, I was stuck on one page and could not get back to the home page. Not clear on how to partner with someone. What does it mean when the app states that a potential chat partner is pending approval. By whom? Aren't we all addicts? That said, it's as good as anything else I've checked out.
UPDATE: The developer gave a polite and helpful response to my review and says he is fixing the problem. That alone raises my re view from 1 star to 2 stars. I will try the app again after the update and re-review First, I hate when apps require my email, but I decided to set it up anyway. Next, it was very clunky. No matter how many times I edited the year, it would immediate change that to 1900 and decide that I had over 100 years of sobriety. After 30 minutes of wasted time, I deleted it.
I've had excellent experience within documenting my sobriety on NoMo. Other apps I've tried in the past, ended up giving me unwanted ads within downloading- it hasn't occured with this one, along with draining my phone battery. Greatly rated, all around!
Does what it needs to, although if it all possible I'd love it if the back button didn't end the app, but went back to previous screens instead. Oh, and the app icon is broken on my device. Appreciate the hard work!
Great concept, but the Android app needs some work. The text input fields are very difficult to write in (especially if you have to edit text), and the + & - means of selecting options is not great but any stretch of the imagination. Still, it's a simple app that does a great job of keeping you motivated in your sobriety, and the accountability partner feature is awesome. Understand that this was put together by a part-time developer, in his free time.
