It's OK for ebooks. I started with Nook when it was new. BUT, now with the new consolidation switch I've figured out how to access my nook audio books, but they won't download on by Nook tablet. Two calls to the bn help line have not helped. The chat line wanted my credit card info-- um, no! Searched for an email, but that turned out to say "can't be delivered". So, as far as the audiobooks part of this app, I'm totally frustrated!
So far I am not impressed. There is no user guide that I can find. Don't even know how to buy books anymore. Thank heaven my old Nook works. I can get books there and they automatically transfer to the new device. Also haven't figured out how to navigate my games. Deleating games is difficult. Have not yet figured out how to set up apps in any kind of order. OK - I may be 79 years old and confused by technology but there should be an easier way to get answers.
After most recent update, getting file not found error at random when trying to open books from library. Signed out, reloaded update & spent 4 hours downloading library again, still get the error although it shows as being downloaded. Don't you beta test these updates before pushing them out? Piece of junk, frustrating On hold for 10 hours three separate times for failure to download titles and sync libraries to 2 devices. Total failure & waste of time If i could give 0 stars I would.
Buying books off another website? Are we going back in time? My elderly mother who finally was able to master the ability to purchase and read books.. now has a hard time figuring this out with this new update. Unbelievable. Very confusing and poor interference. Will be switching devices.
The best ebook app, hands down. Easy to use and visually impressive. I really miss the ability to purchase within the app, but within Google's new profit structure, that can't be helped.
I enjoy using my Nook exclusively for reading, and while it does quite well at this, there is room for improvement. There is too much bloatware on the Nook, which slows it down and sometimes makes it unresponsive. I don't need many of these apps, so I feel they should be left off the Nook. Other than this, my Nook is great.
I'm very disappointed that they have removed the soft reading option. The blue light is way to strong for night reading. What happened to the option to darken the book pages and lighten the charters? My favorite was the black background and the soft beige letters. Please bring this feature back.
This change needs to be tossed out. I don't want to put a book on a wishlist and be unable to purchase it. I go into the play store and am told In already have the B&N app. I go to my desired purchase and can only get a sample. Fix this please. One star is too many for an unusable app.
I have used Nook since 2011 and have not had any problems, however the new version is awful and makes it where you can not buy books from the nook bookstore itself. You have to go to the actual Barnes and Noble website to buy them and then download them the nook itself. This is highly inconvenient and takes a lot of the reason of why I have my nook away. I'm very upset about this changed.
I'm very frustrated with the new way to purchase ebooks. Why did it change? I'm not that great with the new way to access and have called customer service more than once for help and get no where. So what do I do now? I have money on gift card and can't purchase what I want. I'm so beyond frustrated!!! I really liked how easy it was before, now I absolutely hate it!!!!!!!! I'm so done with this new app!!!!!
We can no longer purchase ebooks from certain B&N readers that run the Nook app. I've been a Nook user since their first e-readers came into the market. I can no longer recommend B&N Nook now that it's been hobbled by this recent change. Kindle users don't seem to have this problem.
Lousy. I am now getting push notifications in the form of texts from the barnes & noble bookstore with no option to turn them off and it costs me minutes for these unwanted notifications. I was told by customer service that my app was out of date, but there was no updated app in the google playstore. A week to two weeks later the updates became available and still no option to turn off notifications.
Since updating this app I have lost ALL my books in my library on the Samsung 7" tablet. Will call tech support again tomorrow . Happy that I also have a Nook Glow book so not a total loss.
They took a good app and changed it and made it impossible to buy ebooks within the app. Isn't that the whole idea of a reading app? It's almost like BN has given up on us.
With this upgrade you cannot see the book prices when browsing in the Book store and it requires you to add selectios to your wishlist and then use another device to purchase! Please fix this Barnes and Noble
Underwhelming I thought the Lenovo Nook would be better than the Kindle Fire. I was wrong. Going back to Kindle ... Wish I could convert my nook books!
It's horrible now that you can't just purchase right off of the nook app. talk about making things a mess having to purchase books for the nook online....I feel it should be fixed.
I have had this particular nook tablet since 2014 and she is my constant companion. She has even traveled to other countries.
All of a sudden after many years of using system I can not buy new books. I am sent to wish page. Is Barnes and Noble discounting the nook program?
Love how easy the app is to use. And the Free Weekend Reading books available on Fridays are great too!
I made the wrong choice all those years ago with the amazon device instead. Story of my life i guess.. Beta Instead of VHS, Intelevision instead of Atari, PC instead of Mac, Android instead of Apple... go with Kindle!!!!!
I hate that the Lenovo has no Home button. Sometimes I have to swipe up as many as ten times to get to the home screen. Definitely will not buy another Lenovo NOOK
I can no longer buy books on the app and it seems my money is no longer on my account $206.00 and nobody can help me unless I drive to a store. Would like to give them zero stars will no longer brag about nook or Barnes and noble
I'm not a fan of the new look of the app and prefer the old one better. I don't like having multiple menu tabs or buttons at the top and bottom of the screen and much preferred the single "button" that would open up the menu for all the other functions and the drop down to select the view I wanted (shelves/most recent/all items). The new app just looks cluttered and makes it easier to accidentally switch "views."
November 2018 "update" is awful. There is not a single icon, just a bunch of icons that aren't even labeled "nook" . You have to find them yourself and then put them in a folder. I agree with other reviewer's complaints. 01/04/19: The problems were were fixed and there has been some improvements. 02/24/19: Newest version: when the app opens to Library there is spinning "loading" icon and your books don't appear until you select another action such as selecting the "Bookstore" and then go back.
I used to love this app but the latest update makes the whole nook experience very, very frustrating. It takes a LONG time for new purchases to show in your library, and there's no refresh button to manually pull them in. The purchase experience is also messed up...used to be able to read a sample, purchase the book, and continue reading seamlessly. No more, when you purchase a sample you have to wait for it to show in your library, and your place in the book is lost. I'm switching to Kindle
I've used a Nook for years. I hate latest update. The feature that allows you to skip back and forth in book without having to turn each individual page doesn't show up most of the time. Same goes for ability to change font size. The "improvements" that predict how long it will take to finish a chapter or the book don't make up for what was lost and aren't something I need.
Very frustrated with this model. Does not work properly. I have trouble moving from page to page. It won't let me pull up the sliding page finder. It is also super touchy does not go where I want it to go. I have had books that did not finish or were tuncated oddly. You really need to have Lenovo or your software maker look into the numerous glitches - or you will loose us to Kindle. I bought my first Nook Color in 2005 & it worked mostly well for years. Then I had to by a new..
