I literally can't purchase anything in the app. I've updated, uninstalled, reinstalled, read through samples, wishlisted, everything. I simply can't purchase books to read through the app. The "buy" button doesn't exist anywhere I can find. Completely worthless app, and it's singular glaring flaw seems like more of a "you" issue than a "me" issue. I'm trying to give you money and you won't take it.
New version is no where near as good as the old. Please change back. I have the same buying issues as everyone else which YOU should be more concerned with but the app works so poorly now. The dictionary will not pick up the word you point at, it jumps around. When turning pages it changes font sizes and then the placement of where you are on the page. On the bottom left where the page number is it keeps changing from pages to time left in chapter or nothing. Just stay showing the page number.
Barnes and Noble has changed the app for the worse. You can no longer purchase ebooks in-app. You have to go to their website. You can mark books on your wishlist and it is supposed to sync to the website but it doesn't for me so I have to search again. Then the website is VERY slow to load and buggy as heck. I timed it and it took me 12 minutes of reloading the page and entering the same information multiple times to order my book. It looks like they fixed it until it broke.
Love having such easy access but it tends to freeze on a page. When I try and turn the page it flashes but doesn't change, and then I can't do anything, not even go back to the home page. It just gets stuck on a short flashing refresh. I have to uninstall and reinstall it to fix it, which is very inconvenient.
The app is nice looking, but sometimes I have problems with footnotes number link or not being able to select the text to add a note or highlight. Sometimes closing the app and reopening it is enough to make the text selection work, but if it doesn't, the selection is off by one line. Other than that, it's pretty nice to use. I like being able to change the background color, text color, and font.
I honestly love this app, but the new changes have made it hard to purchase books now. Where the purchase button should be there's a note with the price that just tells you the book is available, but doesn't let you purchase! I miss the quick and easy purchasing process. Where they just had a button under the book that you could push to easily buy. I want this fixed, I'm disappointed that this has even become a problem! I just want to purchase digital books again; without having any issues.
With the new update I can no longer read ebooks downloaded from the internet or other apps. I enabled it to access my nook folder but it doesn't add anything from any subfolders and I just have too many books to keep them all in one folder. And the app needs to reupdate every time I open it so it doesn't even keep the data within the folder of my uploads. This was never a problem until this new update. If it isn't fixed soon I'll be forced to find a new reading app.
Love my nook, it's easy to install on any device and easy to navigate. Just did the new update and now I can't buy any books. There is no place to select to buy. Only to add to your wish list, that has no ability to buy from either. I also tried reading the sample and then buying from the end of the sample.. again no luck. Please fix this!!
The April 1 2022 version crashes often while I'm annotating stuff. Seems to happen most often when annotating something near the bottom of the page. About every third annotation crashes the software. Frustrating. I've been happy with Nook books for 10 years. That happiness is rapidly declining. I'm going back to the previous version and disabling automatic updates.
No longer easy to purchase. I know the wishlist is supposed to synch....it doesn't. Purchases are now cumbersome and take too much time. I feel like I'm being pushed back into a nook device. Which are great but I don't like keeping up with a separate device. I know, Google changed, blah, blah, but many others aps allow in ap purchases, disappointed there isn't a better solution.
New changes are horrible. I can no longer access my wishlist through the app, it says it syncs with your account so you can access it online but that is not true. My wishlist on line is not the same. Also you can't sort your list online based on price. Dumbest thing they could have done. After all these years this might be what makes me switch from nook to Kindle...
The newest update has ruined this app. You can no longer purchase books directly from the app. You have to add something to your wishlist, then try and go online to buy it. They claim that your wishlist should cross over seamlessly, but in actuality it doesn't. I've been using nook services for years, but I guess it's time to move to Amazon. If barens and nobel ever fix this ill be back, but until then I guess I'm done with them.
VERY DISAPPOINTED in this change in the app. I selected 2 books as a test for purchasing. When I take the extra time to go to the website on my tablet and take the time to log into my account no items show up on my wish list. Nothing that I tried would bring up the list. I had to go to a different device, log in again and there was the list. I've been use this service for 8 years but if it's not going to work on the tablet I've bought my last book from Barnes and Noble.
I've used the nook app for years, and I have an old nook tablet that is still in perfect condition, despite being over a decade old. I have always loved this app, but I can't purchase books anymore. I tried doing the wishlist thing, and it isn't working. It's harder to find the books I want on the website. I'll be charging my nook tonight to see if I can still purchase from it, if not, I'm going to a library.
The "new improved" app, well, SUX. I've used the other versions for 20 yrs. This one crashes, won't accurately hilight a word if I DAST look at the time in the header. I have to close the app & start over. And why make it so hard to purchase e-books from the app with that lame "sorry for the inconvenience"?! Makes B&N look cheapcheapcheap.
I contacted Nook support several days ago and still have not heard anything back from them. This is so frustrating. Every time I highlight a passage in the book I'm reading, the app closes it and opens a different book. When I return to the book I want to read, it opens to the cover page so my place hasn't been saved. I don't know if I'll be able to finish my book at this rate. Very disappointed with this app.
Was Good Until The Last Update Apr 1st. I am upset they removed the ability to purchase books straight from the book description page. It's HIGHLY inconvenient because now I have to leave the app to make a purchase...what's the point? By then, I'll just buy it in paperback. Might change rating if they bring back option to pay in app. Until then, my time on this app will be very short. I'll just go back to buying real books.
I don’t know what they did with this last update, but the pages no longer flow to turn them. I have to tap the left side to go back a page and swipe vigorously to get the page to slide to the next page even though I have it set on flow. I also have problems with parts of pages highlighting by itself and reads automatically.
I'm now unable to make in-app purchases and it's making things a bit more complicated. Not the end of the world but I do miss finding a book, clicking a button then boom it's there. This new update is not very good and hope it gets fixed soon. I don't have this issue with kindle and would prefer not to have to switch over completely but we'll see.
With the new update the app constantly struggles. Also I can't buy anything on the app which is a huge inconvenience. The bn website is also a pain to navigate and go through purchase process, then have it eventually sync to my nook app and then read the book. Looks like I maybe switching to kindle. I hate the kindle interface butsince I can one click buy there it's becoming more convenient.
Extremely frustrating that I can no longer purchase books through the app. But equally frustrating is the extensive wish list I have on the app does not transfer to the website. If it is version 6.1 that is the problem, then go back to a version giving better customer experience.
Whatever change you made to the file system has made it extremely unstable. Books are randomly disappearing from the list and reappearing with no rhyme or reason behind it. Any changes to the single folder it now can access causes it to rebuild the entire library slowly. This is not usable.
Try highlighting when 50% it will highlight a line below, or close out of the app after selecting a color for highlighting. I love to highlight on this app. I do wish when you go back to see what you highlighted for each book that it will be formatted better. It will indent where theres no indent. I can imagine this app becoming a cleaner version for highlighting or to look back for finding notes from highlighting in the future. Otherwise, will not stop highlighting tool and cherishes it
I love this app I really do but now I cant purchase via the app and when I try to access my wish list for nook I don't see any of my books. Why do I have to go through all this trouble to buy something when the old way worked just fine. Feels like an over engineered solution to me and one that with how people have gotten accustomed to being able to easily purchase from an app with out having to jump through numerous hoops is going to sadly backfire. Especially when it is so hard to navigate.
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem or not, but: When reading, if I pause or turn off my phone for even 1 second, the page is always slightly rearranged from how it was when I stopped. This is extremely annoying for me as a reader, because when I stop reading, I short-term memorize where I was on the page/paragraph, etc. But with the page rearranging itself, and also sometimes moving forward or backwards, seemingly at will, I'm pretty much always looking for my place. :/
