I've been losing about 2 pounds a week on Noom. The program wants you to weigh every day which I find excessive. Once per week should be adequate. The app is really good, not perfect though. Hence 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall I really like the program which uses cognitive behavioral therapy in addition to traditional weightloss methods (counting calories, veggies/fruits emphasis, drinking water, exercising, portion control).
I've lost over a stone in approximately 4 weeks. The plan works. The reading articles to do every day help with self awareness and a better understanding of why we eat what we eat and when we eat it. And ideas to help prevent giving up. I've only given the app 3 stars however, as I've had to contact support a few times already because of glitches with the app eg the step counter going missing, the calorie counter going missing off the homepage (can be viewed elsewhere),and other issues.
I have been using this for a month and find it excellent. Good coaching support, useful daily learning from the app. It works, too, I am over halfway towards my goal, and it is designed to set up healthy habits which should be sustainable. Update a month later: I reached my weight goal a week ago. Now working on maintaining a good, balanced diet and and developing activity levels.
I have been using this app for about 1 month. I enjoy the lesson plans for reminders about the psychology of making different choices. I think the calorie allowance is ridiculous for anyone though it definitely will help you lose weight because you'll be STARVING. App is easy to use, noom guides are helpful. I would like it better if there was a macro breakdown and better recipes.
The program is great, the app not so much. Yesterday I lost the calorie and step tracker icons on home page of Noom. Today, the calorie tracker is back on there but the step tracker is still missing. What will tomorrow bring? Support is quick to respond but their solutions didn't fix the issue. Said they are escalating to IT department but haven't heard from them. Those 2 functions are the basis of the app. Not too happy. On the bright side, the plan works! Update: Issue resolved next day!
I have Noomed for almost one year and nearly reached my goal. The program is wonderful and walks you through the science of weight loss. It is well-supported with scientific evidence and really gets at the psychological aspects of human behavior. And, it is humorous! The coaches and group are supportive. The only drawback is the app and a lack of orientation at the beginning. The app needs a back button on each page that allows a participant to re-read pages. Otherwise, Noom is a great tool!
They charge full price for an unfinished product. After a certain point there is no audio, which then requires you to read, that might not be an issue for some, but for myself, being able to multitask while listening was great, unfortunately I do not have the time to sit in the app every day and read, also its less inspiring when you have read as opposed to someone speaking to you. Started off great and app worked well for me to the point of having to read, then I found myself never using it.
I'm just trying to complete the setup survey, and it keeps breaking at the same point (the animation which describes how Noom works, about 2/3 of the way through). It gives me an error that says my phone might have lost connection to the internet (which it didn't) and then forces me to start over. Something similar happened on the site. I've heard good things about Noom, and I just want to try it but can't even get through the survey to start on a plan. Help??? Happy to update if resolved.
So far I love it. I wish the option of a one to one coach was part of the sign up and it wasn't extra, but it did not make or break it for me to join. It's pretty easy to use its all right on the app and my fitbit sync to app. 14 day trail gives you time to figure out if it's for you or not and canceling is the touch of a button. Very user friendly.
It's been amazing! This teaches a new way to think about food. The lessons are really interesting and have really made me think about the way I am with food. I can still eat foods that aren't the best but I'm learning moderation something I tend to struggle with. Also the meal tracker has a wide range of food (including fast food) so when you are going out you can use it to strategies what you're going to order and how much to eat. Down almost 20 so far!
Update: Support advised me to sign up on my computer as the app wouldn't proceed. I was able to complete the survey and sign up for a trial from my computer and can now use the app. This clearly shows the app is severely broken if I have to use a computer (that is on the same WiFi) to complete a basic survey. May raise rating after further experience with the app.
The app itself works ok, but basically the program is calorie counting and calorie reduction with some teaching. If you're already somewhat knowledgeable on healthy eating and habits, it's not worth the cost. Also, I found the support less than helpful. I was paired with a coach, but the interaction was hit or miss, then the coach left, so I was without a coach for a while. I guess I just had higher expectations for the high cost.
Just got charged for my second year and was excited to get started and try again. I did one day before the app started freezing and crashing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now. Rebooted my phone half a dozen times and nothing. Can't do anything - I am extremely frustrated and disappointed. I know the program works and want to do it again but for the price this is not acceptable! Please fix or give me a refund!
The app is a great solo learning tool. I learned many things that I was able to carry into my life & have seen some success. Ever since an update in March/April the app has been incredibly glitchy. I reached out to support & the issue has not been resolved. Issues include lessons I have finished not being logged thus losing months of learning streaks, unable to edit workout history, and loading times. I have paid for 9 months & have not used the past 2 weeks because of frustration.
Tried the free trial, cancelled before I was charged. It's a nice app to log weight, diet and exercise but there are free apps that I can use to do the same thing. The only thing additional Noom adds is daily lessons and coaching. The lessons were predictable and the coaching is scripted. In other words, Noom can't actually offer anything new. If the price were lower it might be worth the convenience of having everything in one app but the price is quite high.
I've had a great experience with Noom. The app is easy to pick up, the content is top notch, accessible, effective, and very encouraging. Having support from a coach is great, too, and not overbearing. The lessons often have application outside of fat loss and fitness, too.
