i have to give this app a low score. while i like reading local news i have a hard time getting the right article..i have filed several.request to customer support but nothing ever changes. i see a headline and click on it only to be taken to a diffrent story. this has been a problem for quite some time.. i used to use the app for free but about 6 months ago i bumped up to a paid subscription so now i am not getting what i paid for..might as well just cancel and use news 12
I love this local newspaper and support it with my subscription. But I must say the actual app itself is horrible! The app keeps asking me to log in, and when I try to do so it simply brings me back to the news story I was trying to read and won't let me proceed in reading it. What's the point of this app? I'll just read the news off the website at this point. Deleted.
App is OK. But recent version crashes too often, especially on returning to the main headline list from a selected news article.
Duplicate Accounts & Unauthorized Charges! I've had to report them to the NJ Attorney General's office. Beware of these sharks. They are now owned by Gannett Group, and are apparently living up to their name. They make it virtually impossible to cancel your subscription, will make charges for less than $10, then tell you it's their policy not to refund anything under $10. I set up an account with them on October 9th at 8:01pm, and they set up 2 accounts at exactly that time. I wrote to them and they told me I would not be charged for the duplicate. I was. I then wrote to them again, and it has taken me until today, 25 emails, 2 app "chats" and a long phone call to get them to simply cancel my trial digital account. I'm still out for the duplicate $3.00! They outsource their "customer service" to some far off land, and leave customers literally at this third party's mercy. Your payment will be processed by this third party, and as a result they will make fraudulent charges and refuse to rectify them. You will discover it is impossible to find someone at North Jersey or Gannett to talk to. Never, in all of my life have I experienced such terrible, blatant racketeering. I can only imagine how many elderly they are successfully ripping off through duplicate charges. Avoid them.
The obits are not up to date in the mobile app. You can read current obits online, but not through the mobile app which is not good.
I like being able to see local news but I don't want to pay for it. you see six articles a month and then after that you're locked out unless you pay for it there are other apps that are free with the same local news
The app gets most of the main articles news weather sports at no cost. It works smoothly and I use it many times a day👍
great app, no issues with it from my experience and i love the North Jersey news feed.
It works for just what I need, local news in a timely fashion.

News rag better suited for your litter box written by a bunch of bias sleazbag reporters. DO NOT DOWNLOAD. It is a pay site

Today this app started repeatedly putting up full-screen advertisement pop ups. It made reading just one article a chore. Uninstalling and NOT reinstalling it fixed that. This used to be 5 star app for me. I don't begrudge the new owners needing to make money but these kind of ads are ridiculous.

Are you KIDDING me?? It's one thing to never think of having a search capability. In a news app. It's another thing to HAVE it, as this app ONCE DID, and THEN to "modernize" it by TAKING IT AWAY! Who actually got PAID to DECIDE to remove it, APPROVE removing it, PLAN to remove it, and then REMOVE IT???

This is what we've been waiting for. A 21st century mobile app. Congrats to the team that finally delivered the mobile app that the The Record and our community needs and should have! Thanks! Keep going!
Has what appears to be the same content as the mobile site. But the mobile site is actually very fast, while this app is horrendously slow. I will just go to the mobile website from now on. I really wanted to like this ap.....
It takes forever to open. When you click on the app icon it takes 20 seconds to open. Then 20 seconds to open each story. By the time the story opens my screen has already gone into screensaver mode. I like reading news from New Jersey but this app in no fun to use.
Despite updates since Jan 2016, application is slow to load on iPhone and Galaxy.
App is very slow on a good day. On most days it freezes or forces close.
Back to the drawing board. Its still slow to open and cumbersome to use.
App worked fine until last update, now the app doesn't load at all
