You got rid of the one useful feature! The ability to live check trains for their entire journey rather than just the snippet I'm travelling. I mostly used the app to check on journeys that I am taking, I like to be able to see if and where trains have met delays, it helps calm my anxiety when I travel. I can't do that now. Why take away such a useful feature? You don't seem inclined to return the abovementioned feature so I don't feel inclined to use this app any longer.

Rapidly becoming more useless. No longer accepts any kind of payment. Just crashes on loading the payment page, then they have the cheek to fine you for not buying a ticket in advance. What a racket!

This app simply will not open on my phone, it crashes every. Single. Time. Don't use an M ticket as it isn't guaranteed to work and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it.

Giving 1 star because when they cancel services, they should automatically refund my money. I am still owed money on two purchases. Northern treat customers abysmally. Stop spending money on ticket checkers, no need in today's day and age. Spend money on your automation payment services and automation of train services.

Not sure why this app as such low ratings. I think it could do with a little bit of a redesign, to make it a little more user friend, but on the whole its works fine. I found the train I needed, paid, and had the ticket on my phone, a part from a few tweaks here and there this app works fine.

I've edited my previous 5 star review, reduced it to 2 star. Why? Northern have removed the 'our trains only' function, which allows you to use exclusively their services at a significant saving on most occasions. They've also removed the check live times function, yes you can still check the live times, but it's a significantly greater effort. Thanks Northern!

Don't like the latest update. The live Departure boards from specific stations used to be very useful for seeing general expectations over next half hour/hour and particularly useful on lines where alternate trains diverge to different final destinations (Southport to Manchester line). That feature is now lost because you've merged with 'my tickets' and multiple searches required, adjusting the 'destination' station.

Was good, now bad! When first downloaded 4 years ago it stored my card info so l could buy immediately, and let me check live times so l could see my train was on route to get me (or not). The last few weeks have been awful, not been able to buy a ticket for a month as it just says 'oops' when l attempt to enter card details. Totally pointless now... bring back the 2019 version.

After the latest update the live station option has been removed. As someone who travels daily via trains found it very useful bring it back. Also when you look at train times if you try to go back it always crashes the app.

Will not be using Northern Rail again. Way too complicated for the non-tech savy user or person who doesn't have the latest phone. Bought and paid for a ticket but was made to buy another one because they couldn't read my ticket. Unacceptable, just a ploy/scam to charge people more. Will not use again, was on £6.70, but no thanks. Made it extra complicated for no reason other than to scam people.

The option to buy a child ticket or to edit how many child tickets you wish to buy is no longer visible since the latest app update on Android (this is the case on multiple Android phones in my household).

Worked well until Feb 2022 update, then refused to accept high street credit card which worked fine before, and works everywhere else, says duplicate number. Emailed support early march, no response. Still worked with a debit card from different high street bank until last week, now it forgets the payment during verify payment with banking app. So, can't pay anymore, unless I open another account somewhere... Can't buy tickets, so totally useless.

App is no longer useable due to an unskippable "toast notification" that insists I download a new version, which I cannot download on any of my devices. Now I can't even check how badly my journeys will be delayed (because they always are).

For someone who uses the app near enough every day to check train times the system isn't good anymore since of recent updates especially to the train time functionality as you now have to come out of the "live train times" page which isn't very lively and then go back into it just for the results to update so unless you do this often you won't know if your trains changed times, been cancelled or switched platforms

Unless App , suppose to provide live train times it doesn't then displays trains as onetime when they are cancelled. The flexi ticket there is no were to get a refund anywhere! Which is a con , the payment system is out dated continuously says duplicate card number when you have nowhere to add the details even when your manually entering.

Removal of functionality in updates is disappointing. Having live times available as a separate option including cancelled trains and previous stops (including planned and actual departure times) was essential for commuting. Download and activate ticket is still clunky and needs streamlining.

for a while now, I can't buy tickets through the app (technical problem message) , and I have to go to the website instead. The whole point of the app is to buy e tickets; for everything else there's national rail.

The changes appear to have made it much harder to check live information about my usual route, impossible to buy a ticket via the app. Travel planning is still good, but the app now is generally much less helpful than it was.

Northern Rail App! Download and book your tickets on it at your peril. If your train gets cancelled as mine did with no update then getting your money back means having to go fill in a form and wait 10days to see if they will refund you. This is even though the app gives you a refund button then tells you you need to release your ticket. Where is the button for that! Seriously will not use this to book a train ticket again. EVER! Wasted so much of my own time!

Not working? Been trying to buy a ticket since yesterday. I keep getting the same message "oops something went wrong, try again." Ad infinitum. Just got to the station and couldn't buy the ticket I wanted from the machine, had to go to the ticket office. Technology is not making my life easier today. :-)

Good app, pretty fast to search and buy tickets. One minor change I'd make - increase the screen brightness to max when viewing a ticket QR code. Just saves having to do it on the phone first when scanning.

Great to beable to download tickets on my phone wherever I am. Unfortunately the big downfall is it doesn't save bank details also no Google pay etc. When I'm out and about and try to pay for my ticket only to find I have to dig out my bank card and input details in middle of the street. Not ideal or convenient. Easier just paying on the train when this happens. Unfortunately I don't always have my bank card but paying on train is more expensive so due to the app problems had to pay more alot.

Not a bad app generally. But this has twice logged me out as I am a few meters from the barrier, right before my (commuting) train is due to depart. Caused me to miss it once and almost twice.

I'm really fed up with this app. Since I changed my credit card it forgets my card details and I have to input them again every time I want to buy a ticket, despite having ticked the box for them to be remembered. I have emailed support twice and had no response. Infuriating.

Would be better if there was a way of making the barcode larger so the scanners actually detect it.
