Does not connect to panel 99% of the time. Completely useless when you're away from the house.
The app is horrible. It takes forever to open/load. When I try to use it to arm or disarm the house, more times then not, I get an error message and am unable to complete the request/action. It's beyond frustrating.
The volume doesn't always work and the sound isn't clear. The app works slow especially when you try to open it when someone rings the doorbell. Now the app doesn't allow me to review the videos. Says it only stores 7 days worth. They has to be the worst app ever. Now when the sensor detects something (which is hardly ever does anymore), it doesn't even store the video. I'm better off getting a Ring. This is the worst app/ service ever. I didn't think it could get any worse.
It's either the doorbell or the app. I am not happy. As others have described, notifications are intermittent, camera freezes alot, doorbell doesn't ring through phone and goes offline alot! I will be switching over to the Ring soon. Although not without issues the reviews are favorable and I have also spoken to neighbors who have the ring and they haven't experienced these issues.
I seem to be experiencing the same glitches as others: it takes quite a while to turn on the live feed. I've never been able to use the microphone in real time over the past 2 years Ive had the service. The geofence does not work and it takes too long to arm or disarm from the app. I have had problems with the main panel not taking the code in the house and I"m not satisfied with the tech support received over the phone. I plan on going back to ADT at the end of this contract.
The app doesn't load the cameras often. The doorbell doesn't detect in the moment. It'll send notifications over an hour after. Tried contacting customer support and I can't get through to anyone and online it shows an error code. Senor batteries were low so we changed them and ever since the sensors show errors or won't read it. Super annoying. Can't wait for contract to end. Also contract is way too long with expensive fees to cancel.

Home security system is decent. This accompanying app to run everything is extemely limited. It does not intergrade with Google Home or much anything else. The included Skybell doorbell is third party hardware that requires an additional app to run. Neither Northstar nor Skybell integrate with Google Home. It's frustrating since you have to toggle back and forth between 3+ apps if you run additional hardware like thermostats or wifi light switches.
System doesn't work like they said. Better off getting a different service. Worst thing is that they lied to you and when you notice you are on a contract.
Frequent attempts to arm and disarm from the app.. Very disappointed
Notification delay can be up to 15 minutes. App display of current temp setting can be 1-2 degrees different than thermostat display, neither of which are at the scheduled temp settings. It's very frustrating and constant adjustments are needed. Also, my doorbell camera notifications sound alike even when my phone is on silent.
Its OKAY, but for a security app I need to be able to arm the system QUICKLY, but even that feature is behind a password or fingerprint which takes a while to do. Half the time the fingerprint isn't accepted (by the app not the phone). It takes WAY too long to view my doorbell cameras and the sensitivity of it is way too high where I had to turn off notifications of motion which defeats its purpose .
Their equipment is not durable and they'll charge you a $99 technician fee every time they come out to fix it. There is also problems with the app reading the cameras. I had to reinstall the cameras so the app can communicate with them. Not recommending them to anyone I know. Will not be roped into a contract again with them.
When app was 'improved' last year they ruined it, each video is now giant onscreen instead of compact. You can only go back 2-3 days instead of a week so when out of town it's a serious pain. Notifications for dog walkers but when I went 'live' I see a car sitting in my driveway at night and no notification of it. I kept getting 'rescan' on house screen bcs someone is trying to access my inside camera, I paid service call only to have guy turn down volume.. REALLY? $2,500 to get out of contract
This system is terrible, video works 10% of the time, and I have to change batteries in sensors every few months. Sensors go off in the middle of the night for no reason. I do not recommend this company. I'm stuck in a contract and completely regret it. I've had nothing but issues with this system.
Awesome app and VERY helpful with the things I needed help on like geofencing or trying the app on my phone. The updated version is awful and more efficient to the app itself. It shows the weather, sensors that's connected to your home. And do it ALL on your phone! LOVE IT!
This app is horrible when it comes to trying bto reset your password. I select forgot username and it never sends you an email or text. If i select forgot password when I select not robot and select whatever pictures when i try to select next it unchecks the robot and just puts you in a loop. So frustrating... this shouldn't be that difficult!
This is a waste of money. On the first month and second month yes they record videos once its detects motion. But now its acting up and they cant fix it. Unless you pay the technician again! I hope people do some research before they sign contract with northstar! Its aweful
geo fencing only works on occasion, frequently have issues where the app takes forever or fails to connect to the panel. If it wasnt such a pain to switch service again, i would have done so long ago.
App worked fine until June update. Now every page in the app is blank. It shows nothing when you click on Users, My Profile, etc. Just blank pages. Can't make any edits or anything. I've cleared the cache and still nothing. Please fix this.
This app lost my password that was saved and now won't let me reset. The Capcha fails everytime in a loop after correctly selecting the correct tiles. Where is the update to fix, I am not the only person having this issue?
Front door cam barely worked but now with the recent update when someone rings front door the app will not open to show who is there, which completely defeats the purpose. Also if the doorbell is pressed it takes a long time for video to show and often the video won't even open
worse choice I've ever made. Tied in a 2 year contract 3 cameras and sensors. they're always malfunctioning and when I reach out to them they tell me to fix it myself and if they send someone out they will charge $100 just to come out. now none of it is working right but one camera and I ve been calling and messaging and I cant even get them to answer me. dont make the mistake I made and go with someone else that actually has a good service and values their customers.
WOW, this company is excellent. Jeff sure knows his product. Extremely competent and professional, and doesn't try to sell you items you don't need. Robert, the guy who installed the system, was efficient, competent, and provided excellent service. It was a pleasure purchasing my security system.
App is not good. It takes too long to open. Most of the time, it comes up with an error code after trying to disarm or arm it. They raised my price by almost $2 for a "technology improvement fee," yet they can't fix their app.
