When it works, it's fantastic. It cuts out often, however. November 2021 - same rating. The cutting out improved greatly for several months, but has occurred multiple times per week this month. I receive the message "network" error, but everything else on my phone & computer works. Therefore it must be an app/NWPB error. When it works, it is fabulous & I'm so very grateful! Updated April 2022 - The cutting out improved slightly, but it still happens a few times per week.

I use it all the time. If I have connection, it is a much clearer signal than the radio.

I am an avid NPR listener and supporter, but this app is the worst! It stops constantly during programs for no reason, especially if I move the phone; this became worse when I upgraded to the S10. When I close out, I get messages all day long that the app is still running. The sound comes thru tinny or digital sounding, but if I'm on NPR One, it sounds fine for the same program. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that doesn't seem to help. Love the station, hate the app.

Started with 2 stars due to performance issues. The app would stop for no reason. Those issues were resolved. So I changed to 4 stars. Only deserves 1. It will not even open. Keep getting a message saying that an internet connection is needed. Which is strange because all of the other apps on my phone that require an internet connection work fine. My Wifi tests out to over 100 mbps download and upload. Streaming directly from the NWPB site works fine. This app is the only way that does not.

This could be a wonderful app! My only, and major, complaint is that it closes itself, every few minutes which is beyond frustrating. This has been a problem for years, but only sporadically until November 2019. I've emailed and written NWPB to no avail. Tomorrow I'm going to call. It is now December 2020, the problem has worsened, and other issues have popped up as well. Have placed phone calls, additional emails and letters - yet no response to any of them.

Not an especially stable app. And one year later still not a great app.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't when in immediate (4 bars) vicinity of fiber-optic wifi router. or roaming 4G LTE. Play/Pause switch no longer works on Classical even though it works on Northwest News. Uninstall/re-install doesn't change anything.

I like listening to the content on this app, but it is too slow to start because there are too many pictures. Nov 2019 Still too slow to load. NPROne loads audio much faster. April 2020 Now this app has lots of extended dropouts and will start playing audio when open app is paused.

So glitchy. Drops the feed randomly. I use many other streaming apps for audio and video including live radio and never have these types of issues (so no it isn't my internet or phone). Love NPR and I contribute but this app is a stinker.

For the inquiring mind there are stories, interviews, indepth journalism, local news, state news, u.s. news and world news, realitivly unbiased with plenty of oppertunity to call into the programs and voice your opnion or your point of view. To bad it just drops sometimes right in the middle of a conversation. Just keeps dropping for no reason, have good internet conniection, it's like someone is controling what I hear.

This app is so glitchy. It locks up. Comes off and on. It wasn't always like this. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still doesn't work well. Sad since I am a reliable supporter. getting even worse. Unbelievable how it locks up.

Too slow. 2 to 3 minutes just to load and another 2 or 3 to live stream broadcast. Often seems like it's just frozen, but if patient it usually comes around.

Quick and easy way to access live streaming and articles of interest. The access to previously broadcast programmes is also a boon. Brilliant alternative to the gutter "press" of CNN and Fox.

Fantastic app, works just like the radio does but with amazing audio. 10/10, wouldn't change a thing.

Long time NPR listener and I love NWPB. Having access to stories and articles is so helpful. It's easy to use, I'm a big fan.

The NWPB app gives me a great experience. I love streaming NPR programming, and being able to easily access the local, regional, national, and international news articles is wonderful!

obviously great content from NPR, app is good and easy to navigate, only gripe is once app loads it is sometimes very slow to connect and start streaming live audio.

I am happy to be able to access the news radio from my tablet, since I can't pick it up on regular radio in Richland, Washington. I also appreciate being able to access any of the NPR broadcast options when I am away from home.

app shuts off the streaming news or music channels and then won't restart, always having to reset the app to get it working.

I love getting the news over my my phone. I work in an office and always have internet so it's any easy match to catch up with NPR while doing some of my more mundane part s of my job. Thanks for all that you do. PS I am a regularly contributor, as well with PBS. Keep up the good work -KJ

I'm still learning how to navigate the app, but I'm certainly glad to have NWPR in my pocket, especially as the weather becomes too cold for prolonged driveway moments.

It never worked. After initialization (app launch), it freezes and won't allow control or playback.

My only way in N Olympic Peninsula to get news as only classic music and jazz is broadcast over radio here, for some crazy bureaucratic reason. Please, classical music does not counter the widespread ignorance and insularity out here!
