I really wanted this Android App and paid-for Windows client to be polished. Norton have been around for all the time I've been using computers, and with a decent enough reputation... surely they can build UI's? Apparently not, despite all the inspiration out there. Getting this up and running has not been pleasent or intuitive. Rage inducing at times. Shame I wasn't able to 30-day try :-(
I am a tech and this app truly is a great idea but is COMPLETELY unreliable.. It rarely works, freezes constantly, won't allow me to login and view my childs activity, I've had to uninstall a few times in one day to clear a "cannot reach to server" error. Please make some serious updates to it, great idea, execution is severely lacking as of current.
Not working, very bad app. Not accepting the command. Instant lock not working, not showing some app. I dont beleive that Norton can develop such a very bad app. Now I have doubt with Norton Antivirus software and app those I am using from several years.
What a clunky, slow and disorganized app. For what I pay this should be a smooth and streamlined experience. Norton really lives up to the long-standing belief that they really have garbage software.
Haven't been able to login to my account for months. When Norton merged the LifeLock and Norton accounts, if you had a LifeLock account that is no longer active, it means you can no longer access your Norton account. After many hours on the phone with tech support and them remoting into my systems multiple times (for an issue that is on their end), it is still not fixed. Stay away from Norton. They don't care and will not help.
I wish the app updated more often and could send text or app notifications. It's often way behind and doesn't have a many editing options as the website.
Needed it for more than one profile but it will only fully work on one profile. Troubleshooted with Nortons support and despite deleting profiles and uninstalling app the time aspect on the devices will not recognize when it should be blocked or instant locked.
My phone has a lot of features that this app causes to not work. When I am in an app on my phone and then press the power button, when I reopen my phone I have to find the app I was in in my recent apps. Normally when I do this the app shows up instantly. My phone has a feature if you double press the power button, it opens the camera. This feature doesn't work, I think it is related to the other issue. After each update of this app, these features work until I restart my phone. Then they don't.
It doesn't work. I don't see any point of using it. My 11-year-old son finds out how to "play" and watch YouTube while a tablet is blocked by norton after 2 days of installing the app. At the time of his "illegal" use, in the app, you can see that the tablet is blocked and not in use. Not recommended
Update: Improvement to some of the issues below were made. Thanks. Original: This app has gone from bad to worse. It is simply not working. Locked my child mobile phone. App on phone said phone is locked by parent, but the phone can still be used as normal.... Giving screen time to children goes by an hour resolution. It will be much better to allow control of 15 mins or at least 30 mins slots. Google Family and Microsoft Family apps all have that. I think it's time Norton update the app.
Trying to add another device to the Norton Family i kept forgetting my password every time i go into it. I wish the password should go for all Norton apps i have on my phone. I love every app
Thoroughly disappointed. The app has proven to be of no value to me. Perhaps if the subject phone is an android it might work, but on my granddaughter's phone, it is worthless.
Update: constantly having problems with the app. In addition to the previous issue (which seems to randomly occur) it regularly indicates that the time allowance has been reached, when there is no possible way. There are days this occurs after 30 minutes of the devices being powered on. This app was great when I first started using it. Pretty disappointed. It generally works well, however as of late, the app will not load my profile. I can still access via the website, but it is inconvenient.
Works keeping your kids out of stuff, but it also keeps the parent out as well. The software is real buggy, doesn't work seamlessly as it should. I set up the rules but the software doesn't seam to follow them. I'm constantly going in and having to make some kind of exception/change to something I previously set. Works great keeping the kids safe but such a ton of work to accomplish that.Really needs to be fixed.I UPDATE-SENT EVERYTHING TO NORTON,PICS, EXAMPLES,EXPLANATIONS,EVERYTHING.AN NOTHING
App will not report information from my child phone as of 1/22/22. The app is pretty bad to start with, but it's now worthless. 2/1/21 As a follow up, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my devices and theirs. The info showed up online. But not the app. I have since changed to a different service.
App hasn't worked in a while. When it did work, which was last year, it didn't report activity that it was supposed to. When the parent changes the child settings, it took a while to update. Now the app isn't loading at all. This app has too many bugs. Don't waste your money.
Update 2. You MUST add restrictions ALSO on software during school time. It is not enough to restrict JUST the internet! He play on android device during school hours and I can't do anything about it just to block the game entirely!! You lost one star because of this... Update! All problems below resolved by Norton! 5stars now! Works like a charm! Finnaly worth it!
I like the app, it does the job, when it wants to, I set the times and it puts the times on longer, so I have to lock the computer to block it otherwise it won't block, very frustrating
So far it is working as expected but I would love an added feature. The school time allows control of web content, but not apps. It would be much better if I could block certain apps during school hours.
Please make a real app. Great management controls but all web based. There is no real app. Hire a programmer so they can make a real app. The functionalities are great but not easy and user friendly when it not.webased
It's not effective while in incognito browsing, Norton should work on this to be effective in incognito mode also.
I appreciated this apps has a ton of feature. But unfortunately the server is lagging. Maybe next time I will used this app to supervised my child again
No real complaints. Does what it needs to do. Can be difficult to navigate but overall not too bad
I've yet to get the parental control app working reliability on my device. It works after it's first installed, then rarely works after. It gets stuck at a loading screen and never displays status of my child's device. Setup was confusing and difficult, mostly due to Norton's web site. Seems like a patchwork of various products that are poorly organized.
