I don't understand the negative comments about the Norton VPN. I have it set to automatically initiate whenever I leave my home network. It works beautifully and starts automatically. It closes automatically when I return to my network. I have been using it for 2-3 years and have never had a problem. Surely do hope I'm not jinxing it with my stellar referral for having no issues with it. I love it!
When this app works - I love the extra security! I have it set to turn on automatically but it doesn't stay on." ***** To answer your question - yes to both. But I can be online and sometimes I just make sure its on - it turns off during an application. I am on a tablet if you need to know that. I have Norton Premium 360 but VPN needs a little help. Thank you for your question. Blessings and Merry Christmas!!!!
Since I have started using this my phone has a tendency to randomly restart. It is very irritating. I will not be finishing the free trial nor purchasing your product. I have given it two stars because unlike other VPNs there is no decrease in download or upload speed and my phone does not operate slower. Unfortunately, the random restarts are a deal breaker.
The app is just fine for me, it does what needs to be done but some tweaks needs to be done here and there to make it better. Initially, a quick settings shortcut must be added for easebof access. Also for some reason Twitter refuses to work when I use the VPN but works fine with other VPN services. Connection doesn't drop greately when I use it which is a great advantage.
Staying protected in this world we live in is top priority. This app helps that happen... WHEN the app stays on. It keeps shutting off and I have to keep turning it on. I contacted them. Had a agent tell me to uninstall and reinstall and it should fix the problem. IT DIDN'T. Now what? I cannot in the security part click on the Auto Protect or Enable Warnings. The green button won't move over on any of the selections.
The app is very unstable. It has at random dropped connection, the connection also really slows internet speed but, the largest problem is the app at random will completely stop working. This gets to the point where you will need to uninstall then reinstall. It has been doing this for months now. I'm looking at other VPNs.
I need to reinstall the app once a week bc it stops working. PC version was also very buggy up until 2 years back. Ridiculous for $80/year EDIT: I used to have to reinstall 2x a week but it worked for a few days, now it never works EDIT2: Now the app can't even sign in. I used to be able to sign in, it usually wouldn't work once I signed in, but at least it could sign in.
When activated apps like Twitter stop working. The VPN supposedly has a setting that let's apps tunnel through the VPN but it doesn't work reliably. Also I'm losing 73% of my download speed and 24% of my upload speed. I know there will be some loss of speed but I didn't think it would be this much.
I used to love this app. But there's no way I'm going to discuss security issues on a platform like Facebook. There needs to be a better and more secure way to resolve off issues with the app functioning functioning properly. So now I'm stuck I can't connect to my ipad or desktop, Because the mobile hotspot won't connect. I have work I must do on those for somebody else and I'm really stuck here. Please provide another safer more secure way to communicate outside of Facebook.
Bought the Norton 360 suite and it is impossible to work with! My laptop vault won't open without the phone verification and the app doesn't remember the device so I need to sign into three or 4 programs before I can get access to open the rest of the programs. Can't set up the ID because it forgets all my security access. REALLY HATING NORTON NOW !
The VPN no longer allows me to get around the region blocking of streaming apps like Netflix or Amazon. And if Disney+ detects that the app is active then it will not even load Disney+ even though I am using the US region on the VPN. Please add more addresses to the network so streaming services won't be able to screen for the use of a VPN by detecting known VPN addresses.
Whenever I try to use a wifi network away from home, Norton always says the network is dangerous or unsecured and I should turn on VPN. When I try to turn on the VPN it fails and I get some kind of error message. This happens every time. So far the Norton VPN option is useless. Think twice and look for other options before you sign up and pay for Norton products!!!
I'm so confused. I tried a trial subscription.... I'm so freaking frustrated trying to navigate this app. Then, just as a further kick in the teeth, my FAVORITE app will not run with a VPN on. So off it went and the ridiculous attempts to just cancel it altogether. WiTelF did I get myself into? I tried chat. They don't even see an account or subscription. I'm afraid I'm going to get charged for a renewal if I don't get an actual confirmation that my trial subscription is officially cancelled.
A useful app that does what it says; a few times moving between WiFi and mobile data I've noticed that I needed to turn the VPN back on, despite the auto detect function being on? But still a good service.
It seems that almost all users are of the same opinion: this VPN doesn't work. The service is erratic & turns itself off without reason & without notifying the user. As a result a user is placed at greater risk than a non-user because s/he would be operating under the assumption of being protected while in fact being totally exposed. Further, even if the VPN doesn't turn itself off it would still eventually become useless by blocking all internet services thus forcing the user to turn it off.
If the advert to download and use the app wasnt misleading it would be a different picture. A 7 day trial, it said that would renew after at the yearly price. Instead charged me for the full year from day one and navigating the websote to try and cancel/request a refund is just a run around.
Trying to get a multi-factor code via text, no text being received. Seems like a simple resolvable problem that I can't seem to get any help. Never had soon many problems before. This is unbelievable!!!
Been using since 2-8-2020. Live in lrg Apt complex also have Reg Norton and Comcast which has Norton...Not sure but may be over protected (?) was hesitant to sign up at first as thought was just for 1 device (have 4) 2 are on their last legs....but still syncing so figured probably need this. So far no trouble w app. Loaded just fine, even my my old ( yr 2015) tab and (yr 2000) Gateway Laptop So, Hey-Ho!! Keep Mission Control on my Newer Samsung. All good on each. 1 scrip covers all devices.
Terrible. Won't connect to VPN even when home, and after paying for it after the 7 day trial period I can't get any money back for an entire year's subscription. Totally disappointed. In contrast, Nord VPN works fine everywhere.
Norton is great. It runs silently in the background and only pops up to tell you something is wrong. Usually a dangerous web site and then it asks if you still want to go there. I feel safer while I blunder around on the internet with Norton to warn me I may not want to go places. Thank you Norton you really do make a difference in my life.
This app stopped working about halfway through my year long subscription. I could not get it to work again after that. Not sure what I way paying for. Uninstalled and do not recommend. Find something that works the whole year after you pay for it.
Seems to work great for dealing with banking transactions but is extremely frustrating when dealing with email. Have had several times where someone will say they sent an email to my Gmail account but I have never received. Turn off Norton VPN and suddenly the emails appear
Just like the PC version absouloutly useless. Laptop been running for about a year now super slow and Norton says its fixed the problem multiple times which it hasn't. Says it has cleaned the files which it clearly hasn't. Absolutely scam
Edited [In this cybervigilant world... its reassuring to know my system is protected... REALLY protected. 24/7 Not only my Phone but also my PC.] Adding-read the comments. Agree with VPN needing manual 'on' & the 'other' neg comments (sorry). Where's the 'intrusion tracer', as soon as there's a breach. That 'tower' is on alert. Freezing the intruder, & locking-out (of network) after 3 breaches sending 'that' to Law enforcement. Sending them a reminder 'Thou shalt not steal'. I could hunt them.👁
Overall, it's a pretty good app. But, I find after about 10-15 times, it disconnects on it's own and the app asks you to sign back in even when you did not sign out. If we're talking about an app that is meant to increase security, that isn't very secure. You could be on your device thinking your VPN is connected and go into the app to check it, and discover you were disconnected the whole time. I strongly suggest Norton work on this issue!
