Notification Helper
This app reads notifications send by the Ingress Game and saves them to a list.
- Helps you to keep track of your favorite Portals without being drowned in Notification noise.
- Saves chat messages otherwise lost within a flood if attack notifications.
- Displayed notifications can be filtered for favorite events.
Can not keep track of events that happen while Ingress is being used.
Android 4.4 or newer because of necessary API requirements.
This app does not access any Ingress server or Intel data, it just collects the notifications received by the phone.
Basic Manual:Enable notifications in Ingress, but set the Notification Sound to "silent"
Before the notification helper can start collecting notifications, you must "Activate" the notification helper in settings. You do this by allowing "Notification access" to the "Notification Helper"
Clicking on the star in "everything" tab or "attacks" tab will add the portal to the favorites, clicking on the star in "messages" tab will add the player to the favorites.
In the "Custom" tab you can enter just a part of the portal name or just a part of the address.Example:If you enter "Fountain" in the name field and leave address empty, all portals with a name that contains fountain will be selected.If you enter 12345 in the address field, all portals from the 12345 zip code will be selected (and the ones with a street number of 12345)
The address of a portal can be found on the key details page.
Separate notification settings for favorite-, attack
- and message events.
Known Issues/bugs:I receive some reports of crashes on devices with the exposed framework, I have no idea why.Setting notification sound to "none" actually sets the default notification sound

Still broken with no updates.
Thanks for making this app! I used this to get custom notifications for important ones (like my GP 😂). This is a must have app for active players. Would be even more awesome if it can auto backup 😉
Tap on messages/alerts should open ingress. Needs individual sounds for individual events not just one sound for favorites.
Like some other commenters, after updating my OS the app started losing access to notifications at start up. The workaround is possible (enabling at start up) but a bit annoying.
Was great but last few months I am getting my notifications with huge delays.
Used to great, but recently stopped working. Maybe an update in ingress changed how notifications work. This app needs to be fixed as currently worse than useless.
For the last 6 weeks or so, the app seems to lose the notification hook to Ingress. Not always, but at least once a day. Everything is running, but the app is unaware of alerts being generated.
Now I'll see stacked notifications from ingress, which then get detected by the helper a delayed while later. This happened less frequently when my phone was on 5.1, but now it's 6.0 this happened everyday. Pretty annoying coz it's like I'm getting double notifications. Could the team look into this?
Wonderful to filter notifications from Ingress. Suggestions for improvement: List of favourite portals, Integration with IITC to be able to mark portals as favourites. And most importantly: customisable unlimited (or at least 4-5 smtg.) number of categories to which we can set different notification sounds. And even timer function, so that we can choose what time these notifications should be on. Issues: Ingress restarts when pressed on notification, even if it is already running in the background. Custom portals don't appear in the Custom tab when added from import. See my email for further details if you want Keep up the good work!
Everytime I open a notification on my Samsung galaxy note 3, the Ingress app stops to work. Useless.
I get notified instantly no matter what I am doing usually before the game even updates thank you for making this happen :-)
Just be aware that 'favourite' applies to both portal and player your alert for favourite portals will play if you star a player and they do something.
Would be nice if there was an option to display more details and/or expand notifications with addresses and such. Edit: I see the address in the list but I meant in the notification itself, thanks for the reply :)
This is a great app, lets me know when the portals I care about are in danger.
For 3 years I'd had notifications off entirely because of the lack of granularity/filtering. This tool does everything I could have dreamed of - for free!
Takes a bit to setup, a week or so to set favorites, after that it is awesome.
Was very useful, but currently on 5.1.1 service very often dies and doesn't work properly

Kill them with fire! Any app that uses heads up notifications with no way of disabling them is an automatic 1 star from me, heads up are the worst feature android has ever implemented and should be ignored and allowed to die, not used
When I asked for assistance because the app did not work for me from day 1, I was told to wait. After four days I told them that it still does not work for me, and I have not received a response for two months.....
Nothing happens
The cure for Ingress notification overload. I should remove one star for the "Join the Resistance" propaganda in the screenshots, but it's so useful I'll overlook that.
