Nougat+ Tasker Tethering Control

Doesn't work on OnePlus 8 pro "without root". Works perfectly on OnePlus 6 without rooting. This plugin does exactly what I hoped it would, allowin automatic hotspot for my truck radio to use for internet without me manually turning on the hotspot. It works perfectly on the OnePlus 6, but on the OnePlus 8 Pro Enable tether doesn't work and said root is required. Disable tether works fine without root though. Both OnePlus phones on Android 10 🤷🏼‍♂️

Works well in Nougat. Had to install as system app though to get it working. Edit: Couldn't get it working in A11. Tried installing as system app using Terminal App Systemizer module but didn't work. For those looking for an alternative use the Github version of Tasker Settings app by the Tasker dev.

pixel 2 XL. Plug in is created. settings pages is created to allow editing of wifi hotspot. when you go back to tasker the app says nothing was rooted.

Doesn't work on s9+ not rooted. I'm leaving a below average rating even though my phone is not rooted but hear me out. They claim it "may" require routing when i was fairly certain that is bs. If they're making a claim like that for this type of functionality, they should specify when it may work.

I have a pixel 4 and ut doesn't work, i had to refund tasker because the plugin fails when installing to the system.

Works great on A10. I did have to use magisk module "systemizer" to convert this to a system app, then give it root.

Works great on oreo lg g6, not rooted. Thanks! Maybe you can add a toggle option, I had to check wifi ap state variable to toggle

Does Not Work. Nexus 6p rooted. Errors under any combination of settings. System installation demands reboot and does nothing.

Unfortunately, doesn't work on android 11 and doesn't seem to support magisk root.

Does not work on Samsung Note 9 with out root.

It was awesome with my Pixel 2 (XL) until Android 11.

stopped working on Note 8 after last phone update.

Works great on rooted V30+ using the magisk module.

Worked great on S9+ before Pie/9.

Unfortunately needs root on first gen pixel

Seems to have issues disengaging. Not sure if this is Tasker or the plug-in itself, but be advised.

I was using Tasker to turn on Wifi Tethering, but today I got a Huawei Mate 10 Pro and because of Oreo it didn't work anymore with Tasker, with this app and its plugin for Tasker it works perfectly! Make sure to allow run Tasker in background in settings. Thanks for making this plugin!

This reenables Tasker's ability to toggle WiFi tethering on the LG V30+ with the recent 8.0 (oreo) update. Awesome!

This is the only app (well technically a plugin) that is able to control the Wi-Fi hotspot on my rooted Nexus 6P running Android 8.1. After it installed as system app (root required), my Tasker profile for automatically turning on the hotspot for my car worked perfectly!

changing my review from one star to five star. didn't work at first because tasker was not given root permission via magisk. had to get phhsuperuser to give tasker root access and then this toggle worked like a charm. thanks

Perfect! My profile using native Tasker WiFi Tether actions stopped working when I upgraded my OnePlus 3T from Nougat to Oreo. Simply replaced those actions with this and it works again!

Was exactly what i need, worked perfectly without needing root, until Android P Beta when it stopped working :( BUT... Started working again on beta 2 - Excellent!

Works on Moto Z2 Play without Root. Though following the screenshots it requires two separate task shortcuts (one for 'on', one for 'off'). There's probably some way to toggle it in Tasker but I don't know how.
