I love this app. Have been using it for years. Unfortunately when I updated to the newest Android version about half a year ago several buggs occured. Like random apps opening when starting apps on the home screen, the launcher completely freezing when using the focus mode on my S20 Plus, sometimes freezing for no reason and launcher search starting when clicking on the Google search icon. All this combined is really anoying, especially because these bugs have not been there before
The launcher is, in fact, really good. I just lack a bit of personalisation in very specific cases which makes organization worse. For example, limiting the number of rows and or columns in folders in the window style, makes it so the folder becomes gigantic when you have a lot of apps in there i like a 5*5 Grid with extra pages, i organize my folders by rows with related apps being in one row, this makes it ao i need more individual folders which i dont really like.
The bloom is off the rose a bit. Been using for years and 100% satisfied with it. However, something went wonky. From the beginning, I had the app open using one of its gestures. I changed that gesture to another app and now can't get Nova to open at all. Not from the Play Store, the search app I use (Gestures), nor from the App list in Android Settings. The only way is to press and hold on the homescreen (which I just learned from a search on the problem). What the heck is going on?
Nova launcher is amazing I've been running it on all Android devices since 2013.. cuz unlike what Google thinks I don't actually ever want my home screen or my app drawer to ever change it should just stay the same if you want to.. I like all of them being boxes.. I like all of my home screens to have the app drawer at the bottom center. I never want to pull up from the bottom to open apps that's unnecessary and you accidentally open apps you don't want to.
It has worked great over the past 6 months, no glitches or issues. My old homescreen is still saved so if I ever wanted to go back to it, I still have it. The settings can be adjusted easily and are not hard to navigate. The editing process is quick, there isn't many clicks required to change the icons. EDIT: I cannot seem to find the photo widget that used to be there. It was there until recently and now it's disappeared. I use an android s20.
On the whole, Nova is a great launcher. I've used it for years across multiple devices. It would be nice to get better support for foldables, particularly the ability to have different layouts from the front to inside screen. The latter has much more real estate than the former so when you switch between the two, the smaller screen makes everything squish, especially widgets.
This is a great launcher but wow guys.... I just lost an entire home screen page. I deleted a widget and suddenly it was just gone. It was the page with all my folders and second most used apps (the second page that had the widget on it) I'm going to have to go into the drawer and drag and drop each individual app all over again and I'm freaking out. At least when it's done there IS a backup option that I didn't see before
One glitch that's bothering me is that when I flick away the app tray to get back to my home screen, it lags for a noticeable amount of time and the wallpaper is shown, home screen is blank, and icons aren't there. Just for a brief second. If that lag wasn't there, you'd never know this wasn't the stock app! It is beautiful.
This thing is still good, but has declined a lot over the years. They've omitted several features, and the UI seems to have gotten dumber instead of smarter. For example, you can't control animation speed anymore. You can't add multiple wallpapers to different screens. The drag to reorder function has become downright retarded, pulling up the preview screen every time.
I've been using this app and the premium for over 3 years now. It's amazing. And everytime I migrated to a new phone i backup and restore my previous home screen and it makes installing apps a breeze. Even Samsung smart switch misses some. Customizing with calendars and folders makes it fast, efficient and organized. Very Highly recommend the paid version.
Great launcher that had all of the cool features before any other launcher! Unfortunately, I removed 1 star because my Dock will arbitrarily disappear & I've no idea why. This is problematic, as the Dock is my go-to area for the important apps I want instant access to; their sudden, inexplicable absence always messes with me and messes up my flow, as it seems to occur at the most inopportune times (e.g. when I quickly need to make a phone call or immediately send a text message).
Love this launcher! I've used it for years and my new favorite feature is the backup and restore...I just upgraded my phone and I was back up and running with everything back to normal in a few minutes😇. I'd forgotten how much Samsung would love to control how you use ur phone 🤪! I love to tweak the settings and all that too, but restoring all my apps and styles on a new phone was fantastic!
After a bit of a learning curve, I like this just fine. While I like that it's similar to the original Android home screen, I'm not sure it's so much better. I got this simply because I wanted to re-order different screens, which Google stupidly took away. It works well for that, and seems to operate similar to the old style, which I prefer.
I really like the launcher, enough to pay for it, however as of Android 12, if you tap the square more than a few times in rapid succession it stops working. Works fine on the built in launcher. It's the only thing I've had trouble with but it's a significant issue. 5 stars otherwise for the customization and flexibility...
This is a great launcher and provides so much customizability! I use it as my default launcher and I've had no issues. One feature I would recommend is for transition effects. I think it would be cool if we could select a few different transitions it could cycle through as your swiping between your home screen pages. But nonetheless this launcher is the best launcher I've used so far.
I love the amount of ways you can organise your apps, the app draw is very customisable and has tabs and folders and my favourite feature is that you can choose a single icon for a folder. There are so many other great features and I've never had any issues with it, having used it for about 3 years.
Feature-rich launcher with extensive customization. Allows to set custom search providers. The only real annoyances I have is that it's impossible to completely get rid of the default orange accent color, as it still shows up in the search icon and in the settings menu.
The Best Launcher available in the Playstore. Versatile, reliable, customization, runs smoothly, easy to use. I really enjoy the ability to reshape my icons. ADW once had the best customization for icons by allowing you to edit and then choose to apply theme to individual icons, etc., but now Nova has unique editing tools as well. Besides these developers at Nova have proven to be the most reliable for years and constantly updating and addressing their customers concerns. Worth the upgrade. Ty
I have been using these launcher for many years. I have the paid version so I can use the gestures. Nova has provided me with a consistent interface no matter what type of Android phone I chose. It provides too many options to customise your phone. And together with the gestures I have created an extremely minimal interface that makes it quite hard for anyone else to use my phone (that is if they manage to access my phone in the first place).
This app helped me easily organize my home screen, dock, and app drawer. The options for saving apps to multiple folders and/or tabs keeps everything easier to find. Overlapping items on the home screen makes the design interesting and user friendly. I also appreciate having the option to have continuous scrolling with interesting animation. None of these options were available on my Samsung launcher, and there are other options that may have slipped my mind at the moment.
Must have if you want to customize look and feel of your phone. The best feature is the ability to export your "Look" to your next phone so the interface always stays the same regardless of Android versions or manufacturer's custom screens. I would like a feature for notification badges ONLY on the icon ONLY, not on the Icon and Notification bar together, like Apple.
Swipes are still broken. The current version remedies the issue a bit on tablets, but it's still a nightmare to get swipe ups on folders right on small screens. Ante Edit: The last update made it even worse. Swipes are completely broken. Glad I had a backup of the previous version. But as the devs claim it's an intended feature, I think I should be looking for an alternative.
Nova has been my go to launcher for a long time now. However version 7 appears to have caused major bugs to occur with the wallpaper settings. It seems like the developers have partially addressed this. Unfortunately, while the main issue which I was having seems to have been fixed, I am now unable set the lock screen wallpaper through nova, when selecting to set both.
This WAS a great launcher. Sure it has a growing list of bells&whistles but what's the point if it stops doing the basics to focus on that only which in time becomes bloat. Nova used to be able to do something as simple as displaying on home screens created website shortcuts & furthermore allowing them to be put into folders. Now it doesn't do that basic thing and therefore can't back them up in it's backup&recovery when it's needed. Basic but required and what i need to continue to use it.
Used this on my Pixel 1 and my S9, but after switching to the Z flip 3 there's an annoying zoom animation that plays whenever returning to the the screen, and you can't do anything while it's going. Since I've not been able to turn it off and I've been bothered by this a lot, I've begun searching for a new launcher, but it still gets 3 stars because I have no other complaints.
One of the best launchers out there. You can seriously customize nearly everything. Launcher remains super fast and intuitive to use. With Prime, you can create a folder, and then select apps to be placed in it. The launcher remembers what apps are in the folder, so if you select other apps, the ones already in there are selected automatically. This really makes it easy to organize your home screen, especially if you have a lot of apps.
