Videos constantly cut out mid broadcast (a single 30 minute video regularly stops upwards of 4 times), there are always at least 1 or 2 adverts before each start of a video and the navigation is also terribly. Considering one can access these videos via webbrowser, I cannot really justify recommending anyone to use this app instead.
This is such a useless app. Was vreat in the past and used it all the time to watch the news. Now it just keeps buffering and unable to watch the program. Have deleted and reinstalled the app several time without any succes. Same buffering problem remains. Tried on different tv's, same problem!!! Even watching it just on my phone is useless too, as it just buffers on that as well. It is about time you fix this problem. Not the only one who has complained about this!!!
Awefull app. Programs don't load or skip episodes. Nothing seems to be done to fix all the problems.
Up untill today the app was working well. Today 12/10/2021 the app stopped??? I am living in South Africa (western cape)it is now 24th March and NPO doesn't open up since 22nd living in cape Town SA. Is there a problem.... Really enjoyed the service. Nos on my android TV also not opening up...? Help
Pretty frustrating. Every action (pause, switch apps for a sec, rotate screen) results in the program stopping with the message "dit programma is niet meer beschikbaar" and you have to start over, sometimes restart the app. I like to use live TV on Chromecast but it doesn't show the time the program was aired, only the last 3 hours, so you have to calculate back if you want to start from the beginning.
I cannot pause my video without it saying "video not available" and having to start the video all over again
Do something! It's keep crashing for no reason. I am a paying customer and expect it well maintained to work anytime on-demand. However, I have not been able to use it after several attempts at several times of the day! Is it that hard?
If you like restarting videos and watching commercials, this app is for you. I've been using (or trying to use) this app mostly for watching the latest news. But the core functionality of the app, which is just playing a video. Is just shockingly bad. It crashes all the time. Forcing you to restart the video and also rewatch the commercials before being able to continue. It's been almost a year since I started using the app and have seen no improvement on this...
Video player is horribly dysfunctional. If you pause a video for just a bit too long, it won't respond when you try to continue. Trying to rewind or go to a certain point in the video leads to unresponsiveness as well. Casting to an Android TV doesn't come without its problems too. If you press the 30 second-rewind button, it'll go unresponsive as well. Honestly, wouldn't be using it if it wasn't my only option to legally watch all episodes of Killing Eve.
Every time you use the back button you end up at the top or beginning of where you started scrolling; the app doesn't remember last screen position. More annoying is that switching to a different app will cause any video you are watching to start over. As a developer I recognize why this is; it is not really an app but just a shell around a web browser. Definitely room for a lot of improvement.
Sometimes it works fine, but a lot of the time videos won't play continuously and buffer for 10+ seconds for every 5 seconds of streaming. Really unusable at those times. Downgraded to one star. I just spent 33 minutes to watch 8 minutes of content. The rest of the time was spent staring at a loading icon with 5 second intervals. Fix this or make the content available again in the NOS app that was working fine until we were forced to use this one
This app is super frustrating... The videos lag constantly, if you close the app then open it again you need to close the entire app, find the same program, wait for it to load and skip to where you left off if you want to continue watching. You're better off just watching it on your browser, at least then you can have a minimized window and properly watch it. Also, when your phone goes from wifi to mobile data for a second, the program is "not available anymore", which means another restart.
Very bad app! While casting, volume controls on your mobile device won't work anymore. Only when you stop casting. Also casting in general doesn't work, it says it's connected to my TV but it still plays from the device itself. Thought I try it via the smart tv app, also doesn't work. The tv app crashes everytime when navigating to the live channels. Won't recommend this app!
Can't load any video! Previously the app worked quite ok, although the chromecast integration was not working well all the time.. But since a few weeks it does not load any video anymore, except for the commercials when I am not logged in, these play instantly! I have restarted my S7 and reinstalled the app a few times, without improvement. Considering I have a paid subscription, this app behaves ridiculous and this situation is unacceptable.
My first attempts just resulted in it bugging out and not playing anything, refreshing and retrying did nothing. I checked the reviews and found out it's not because of my phone and that sometimes it does work so I kept trying. I finally got something to start playing, it turned out to be multiple ads.. After which it errored again and played me more of the same ads. It's a little messy on the user interface design side, but that would be fine if it would actually play anything other than ads..
Absolutely terrible. Won't play at all 9 out of 10 times. Resets to first show on NPO1 after hitting back button which is very annoying. I have a paid account but before that it used to show those annoying ads, then fail to play the show and made you go through the stupid ads again only to face playback problems again. Now with the paid account it doesn't show ads but won't play any content either. Streaming to chromecast kinda works but playback controls are missing...
Basic app design is pretty good. Although the search function lacks proper prioritising of search results, When searching for 'journaal' it is unlikely I meant a very old sinterklaas or skutjes journaal. But my biggest issue with this app is the total lack of quality control. It seems as if after every update something new breaks. I hope the devs will stop adding new features and instead focus on fixing what is there. And implement a proper QA procedure! Current version == completely broken.
I see a lot of improvements happening, and am very aware that I expect Netflix quality for a public domain budget. So I see the issues as room for improvement, and try to stay patient. Currently I am encountering a glitch, not solvable by redownloading the app (I'll report it to servicedesk), and have had episode issues before. The episode issues should be easily fixable by re-uploading, but it's been 2 months and hasn't been fixed. Would be great if watched-log connected better with my TV app.
During playing content app will freeze or tell you content is no longer available
Can't bookmark anything, when looking for news, we get old news mostly.
Chromecast implementation is terrible, live radio playing in the background constantly stops playing.
A nice app. Option to stream with a chromecast lots of free content, everything rating underneath 5 stars I don't understand.
Worst app to browse Dutch content. Most movies are only available with a paid subscription. There are hardly any new movies or series being added. Navigation issues if you try to get back to the previous view. This app is clearly designed to annoy non-paying users.
Its already frustrating when an app isn't always behaving like it is supposed to behave. But it becomes really annoying when that leads to you needing to watch all these commercials again and again, because there are so many playback issues. The app also uses relatively much battery.
Chromecast implementation seems poor; - unstable when playing, random disconnects - switching from and to fullscreen often lets (Chromecast) icons disappear. - when using unpayed account adds are buggy; looping, video not being able to switch to/from Chromecast, disconnecting cc after add played - shared links don't open in/to app (possibly due to name change npo -> npostart). open by default only states the older npo.nl Content is good though. if app weren't so buggy i would use it a lot more
Absolute worthless video quality, low end resolution . Often doesn't load or keep buffering. not like any other internet service. I believe the low quality is done on purpose to safe money. unfortunatly this is the only way to keep us with NL TV
Most frustrating app ever. Videos don't load, whenever you rotate your phone the video stops, you cannot use any controls during the video or it will stop... Nothing positive to say here... Worst thing is the npo website sends you to the (not functioning) app whenever you want to watch anything. Such a joy...
Video freezes or starts over in a lot of cases and you can't close the app or open another. Only reason I use this is because the NOS app doesn't offer the feature to watch news anymore. The NPO app is however THE WORST replacement. At least the NOS app worked. If I could, I would've given 0 stars 👎
Many things could be improved : the subtitles are white without a black border so when the background is white (like someone with a white shirt), you don't see the subtitles ; you need to unlock the orientation to get the video on landscape mode on both side (vlc do that without unlocking orientation) ; i am constantly logged out ; if I press two or three times -10s in a row, then the video restart from the beginning ; when I press +10s it takes 10s to load the video so it's actually useless to press it.
