The reporting is of course good, but the app is buggy and getting worse. My main issue is that it repeats news stories all the time (though I've also had many of the issues seen in other reviews.) This seems like a very easy fix, so please implement it soon.
Local station stream CONSTANTLY breaks. You have to reselect it in the "set local station" page for it to even work. I'd like to keep this app, but if it can't even consistently let me near my local station I'm better off using the Tune In radio app.
What a terrible app. You can be listening to one broadcast, and it arbitrarily switches you to some other podcast. There is no option to play a full show straight through of morning edition or All things considered.
Love NPR but the app is very buggy. If any notifications sound off the app will loop into pause and unpausing audio until I hit the play/pause button. Will also the same thing after some storys are done playing.
Recently app will not stay shut down, just keeps popping back. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Still pops back as on in background. There is no logout option on the app when done listening.
This app does cut off less than it was cutting off. That's an improvement for sure. However, it's back to repeating playing things. I can sometimes skip 3 or 4 times, and it will play the same 3 or 4 segments over and over. Help me NPR One, you're my only hope (at being productive at work).
Worked great on the iPhone, switched to galaxy zfold3 on at&t and now the app crashes a lot, playback will freeze a few minutes into stories making me start them over or skip them completely. Love the app and news, wish it worked better. -- after following the steps provided the app still skips some stories during playback for no discernible reason. It is inconsistent but still annoying
Auto opens, uncommanded, whenever my truck starts and connects to my phone with Bluetooth, draining my phone battery. Have found no tools to over ride this parasitic feature. Will uninstall to prevent this in the future. Other than this very annoying flaw, I enjoyed this app, especially the ability to skip content.
The best podcast application I've ever downloaded. One of the useful facilities I can benefit from using npr One is subtitles for each file. I gotta thank the developers because of this well-organized and informative app. I hope you keep going this way even after new updates, as many applications worsen after updating!
High quality news reporting with interesting analysis segments. Plus a skip button for items you are not interested in.
The app was great until it just randomly stopped working. It won't play anything. Force closed, uninstalled/reinstalled... Nothin'.
The Appsolute Best App for News and US based International Information, though Breaking News is difficult to access. But when all other network sites/apps fail or are flooded with ads, NPR One comes through, usually even when reception is spotty or worse. Now for Classical Music, currently not accessible except for a few children's shorts. Rap or simplistic percussion for musical interludes, Definitely Not what I come to Public Broadcasting for 😒 MyMid.Sch.Perc.Ens.Perf.w/TrashCansSoundedBetter
As bad as the NPR app. Why do these two apps stop and start every 5 seconds when at the same time on the same network the BBC app works perfectly! Also, the NPR doesn't stop when we accept a call; it just keeps playing!!! All my complaints have fallen on deaf ears, so I don't know why I'm bothering. As I type this, I hear 3 sentences and don't hear the next two!!!
I wish I could un-update this app because the new updates destroy functionality. Episodes are constantly jumping back to the beginning or skipping to the next without any trigger from the user
Reliable and timely news every hour every day. Has a wide selection of podcast too that can be listened to any time
Would be nice to have a setting to change the reading speed. Please include a dark mode!
Love NPR and NPR One for the most part, BUT, for the last 6 weeks or so the app will repeat things I've already heard, multiple times a day. Super annoying. I've listened for years and this was not an issue until recently. Can you PLEASE program the app to not repeat things already played?
The app is easy to use overall, but unfortunately bugged with minor problems like unable to bookmark the podcasts that don't exist in the recommendation list. I really enjoy the Morning News and Invisibilia, but since they're out of the list, I can only find them through the search bar, and neither can I bookmark them :( it's just not convenient. Hope developers can solve the problem.
