Runs in background and uses GPS all the time unless you force quit app or restart phone. Also, if you download and cache the offline data it does not use the cached data unless you are in airplane mode or completely without signal. If you have one bar of unusable LTE it will try loading forever and again drain your battery for no reason. It's almost as if whoever designed this has never actually been to the park. Also, the maps do not have bathrooms and vaults which would be immensely helpful.
Map is a available offline, but sometimes not up to date. Not enough zoom levels on map. No trails description or markings on map. Pressing on Alerts button hangs the app. Some random crashes. Overall, I prefer to use REI app.
Just finished downloading the app. Took about 8 tries to get the offline stuff downloaded but as soon as I got a more stable Internet connection not cell internet connection it went fast. Would have given it 5 had it downloaded the first time.
Offline content won't download. This is the whole point in the app. No cell signal in most of the park
Thanks for making and publishing apps for the United States' national parks! I'm glad to see this app, I've been homesick for a nature outing for a long time :/
Offline content won't download. Seems to be an issue with this app in particular as the Yellowstone app content was able to be downloaded.
Offline maps had significant difficulty downloading, and didn't work well.
this app wouldn't download. Furthermore, it continuously stopped working. Totally unuseable.
Great app, we used the offline map function as we drove throughout the park.
The maps come and go. Compared to the Yellowstone app this is second rate.
Excellent way to plan out your trip and make sure you don't miss anything while you are there!

It doesn't have any info on the good trails. Lke Teton crest etc. It only shows info on a few spots very close to the trailheads and tourists.

Amazing app! however, I suggest downloading all maps and audio before you leave the internet. PLAN AHEAD. If you do this, the app works extremely well. The only thing holding me back from rating it 5 stars is that the map doesn't express horizontal distances (but has topographical lines, which is great) and it doesn't have the names of every lake.
