No podcast player, not supporting portrait mode, takes about a minute to open app....
Kinda neat, but forces portrait mode, doesn't allow moving back and forth in videos. Navigating the content is tedious. The interface is slick and flashy, but The totally forgot that it should also be usable!
My son showed me the NSF App that he has on his phone for school just because he thought the pictures looked cool. About an hour later we got off but not until we had explored the wheel of information found there!!! He just followed his fingers and we read whatever popped up next. It was a great way to learn and explore without planning on it!!
A must! NSF science zone is really a helpful app should have. I have just tried this app but very satisfied with the way it works. It also has a lot of pictures that students can click on to read more or watch a video.
As a teacher I like how the topics can support some of what we discuss in class. The videos are well done and interesting and it gives kids something to watch that they actually want to watch. Plus it gives me an actual reason for them to pull out their phones.
There are mobile sites that have great information but the way the content is displayed makes it hard to engage students. The NSF mobile app is designed well, offers easy to find information and is easy to navigate which makes it more fun to work with.
I've been supplementing my kids' education with the app's excellent science videos and images in this app. It's a fun app to use and it's great as both a learning tool and for entertainment. Oh, and it's completely free!
I was trying to explain nanobots to my son/daughter/class. Luckily a friend told me about the NSF mobile app. I downloaded it in seconds and it was easy to follow, interesting to watch and kept us talking about the topic. Great job!!!

I have "NSF Science Zone" on my phone and it is really helpful and meaningful. It is the most solid and robust app available to science fans
Automatically works just in landscape mode (wide). It starts with still photos and the ones labeled discover are audio only clips. Moving your finger left to right or up and down you'll disclose the titles of the picture and select which picture or audio clip you want. The menu is the lines at the upper right. Videos with audio can be found here. Once you make a selection if it gets stuck I hit my back button on my phone the lower left and it will load in a second.
