First you pair the Nyko playPad through the Bluetooth in your settings . Now turn off the Nyko playPad it should still show up on the list of paired devices. Now open the Nyko playground app click on sync controller it should say controller paired NOW, turn on your nyko play pad and the sync controller button you just pressed should change to controller synced. And bam! Remember it has to be in HID mode. Once it is synced you can even switch the controller to mouse pad mode and even use it as a mouse.
For some reason the L2 button is not working on my Playpad pro. I use the controller to play Modern Combat 5 and the L2 button is to "Scope Aim". Anybody that plays this game knows how useful the "scope aim" is. Then I ran across this app thinking I can change L2 to a different button that does work. After doing that, I'm still disappointed that I can't use the changes that I did to my controller profile.
I'm tired of fiddling with this app and getting nowhere. It goes from telling me it can't find the controller despite the controller being connected and showing as synced, then it'll recognise it then tell me it can't find out the firmware version, then I'm told to switch it to HID mode, no App mode, no HID mode, now pair it, now unpair it, it's not connected, oh it is connected, can't recognise it, can recognise it... What's the use. Time to throw it all in the bin and avoid Nyko like the plague.
The app functions (and by proxy the controller) better than it did when it initially released. The main concern however is the lack of dedicated control overlay. For a feature that was promised on the packaging it's blatant disregard for customer satisfaction to never provide it. And while the explanation of the 4.1 os was given, there is no reason for there to have never been a revision to the product OR any compensation given to consumers who were never delivered the feature advertised.
I am unable to update my playpad's firmware, and unable to use custom mapped profiles. I can create new profiles for my playpad pro, but cannot launch them as I am perpetually stuck in edit mode. Not thrilled as this severely limits the use I am able to have with my Nyko device.
I have bought multiple Nyko controllers and all work great and for their price they are complete steal. I read the comments of the so called gamers and surprised they haven't figured out the problem is the software not hardware, stop blaming the controls and someone please fix this app and the software. Love the play pad and pro , they feel great depending what game I'm playing, I used little one for more casual games and pro for more demanding game. To bad the app doesn't live up to greatness of the hardwa
This app is required if you want full compatibility with games such as GTA San Andreas (D Pad and Select button doesn't work). Controller is great, however the app itself feels cheap, and it's too unintuitive. A lot of fiddling around with settings, re-pairing and switching from APP mode to HID mode. Running Lollipop
I got this app awhile ago, back when I had an S3. It worked for awhile, and for playing ROMS, it was fun. Then it mysteriously STOPPED working, and I could never get it functioning properly again. It was probably a combination of things. I was using a flashed and rooted device, and I think that flash caused issues throughout my phone. At any rate, a previous user wrote a review on how to use it, so I tried it with my new Note 4 and it totally works. Ya gotta sync the controller with your phone's bluetooth first, then turn the controller off. Then load up the NYKO Playground app, and THEN turn the controller back on. You do that, and you shouldn't have any more issues with it. This controller and the app combined with being able to broadcast the screen of my phone to my Samsung HD television = amazing, full screen retro gaming at its FINEST.
I was very nervous to run this app seeing all the problems people have posted with this app and controller, well the app didn't cause problems, and the 1st controller doesn't work anymore. I have since bought 2 more, neither work. Screw you Nyko
Works with soulcalibur and bards tale, only criticism is in the hardware itself. The analog is uncomfortable and the crosspad isnt very precise
It says 100s of compatible games but doesn't even have 100 compatible games. False advertising is bad, umkay. No
The controller itself is way too junky and cheap for the price, has difficulty connecting, and is generally uncomfortable to hold. the app is slow and clumsy. Also, it claims to work with "100's" of games, but I count about 39 total.
You're supposed to be able to change how each button acts. Being unable to determine the firmware version installed makes that impossible. I've tried 5 times already to update it just to reprogram the buttons to work properly, and it keeps saying that the firmware version couldn't be determined. This app is complete bull.
I used to use my nyko playpad all the time, then i tried updating the firmware, the update seemed to freeze so i exited out of it, then i kept trying to turn the playpad back on and it didn't work, i need help please, i even tried charging it and re-establishing the Bluetooth connection, and every now and then the lights start flashing when i charge it, i don't know what to do, please help, nothing online has helped, i have the small black edition.
I am having the same issues as many others with this app. Not being able to update the firmware to enable button mapping. Utterly infuriating. Nykos website offers no support for either hardware or app.
The control itself works, but the app is pretty much useless. What good does keyboard and mouse emulation do on a touchscreen phone? I mean, really? This app doesn't even deserve the one star I gave it. If anything, it deserves negative stars. Of course, this app has many other similar alternative versions of it self, and it's not alone with being put in the trash. This app needs touch screen mapping for each button, including the analogs, that you can assign for each game or other apps WITHOUT ROOT.
People just don't know how to use it... great.. please update the games it works on other then that freaking sweet
Does not update my nyko pro pad.. Can't even detect it even it is connected
Good controller but I never use the app. For multiple reasons.
1000 times better than Moga app. Nice job. Also totally programmable buttons. I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about. People don't know how to use software or hardware.
This app needs much more attention. I can't map any buttons and it constantly crashes.
I mean it is NYKO, so one should expect it won't work as expected.
So i paired my controler to my phone and it says connected then i open a game to play and they tell me that there is controler connected so i go to bluetooth settings and it seems out the controler is actually connected please fix this
Like come on I paid for this controller yet still there's no app update or firmware update to fix the on going bugs everyone's facing...
App hardly works. Update to support newer devices/Android OS also Please add custom layout options to immulate touch. Also Sensitivity settings!
I'll give it three stars because I like the pad but I totally don't like the software to run it.
I buy a $20 controller, and I find out it only works with a handful of games? That's a scam. I hope the creators of this die in a tragic fire.
I hope you guys go out of business and save other innocent kids from wasting their money. You still advertise features this controller simply will not do - and then admit you don't know if you can fix it.
