Oahu Hawaii GPS Driving Tour

Shaka guide is our go-to app for visiting Hawaiian islands - this one has been great so far! Some feedback: - Turn instructions are a little close in a few spots and we had to turn around. - Would be ideal to have Android Auto support so we didn't need to turn the screen on from time to time.

Fantastic and easy to use tour of the Island! it provides all directions, so you don't need to use the GPS in your car or Google Maps. The only complaint we had is that the turn notifications came very close to the actual turn .. a few more seconds of notice would have been helpful! Otherwise perfect!

Guide for your drive! This app is amazing. There was a minor learning curve with getting the tec to work, but once set up, the app made doing the loop around the island amazing. We named the narrator Dan (Danny, Daniel, Dano), and he was a fantastic guide pointing things out and telling stories and jokes along the way, oh Dan. This gave us the flexibility to tour at our own pace vs a paid tour. Lots of additional tips include what to pack and what things cost. 100% reccomend.

So great!! It is run by GPS and shares interesting information about Hawaii along your travel route. The narrator is knowledgeable and keeps it fun with little side trips and recommendations for eating as well as the perfect amount of driving instructions to be sure you don't miss your turn. We bought the full package and used all of them at various times during the week we were in Hawaii. If I were to give someone advice on must haves while in Hawaii, this app would be at the top of the list.

Amazing experience! We skipped a lot of the super-touristy stuff but the guide helped us know how to do that best. Highly recommend!

Definitely worth the few bucks to get all of the tours! Easy to use, and the directions are great. Saw so many amazing sights that we would have missed without the app.

Fantastic way to tour the island! We had made a drive around the island on previous trips and this app helped us find many more interesting things to see and do. We'll definitely get another tour on the next island.

love the tour, learned alot about the Hawaiian life. highly recommend, quick and easy to set up and you could stop wherever you wanted and the tour would pick right back up.

Apps is great for a DIY type person & rent a car in Onahu. Very informative. The guide was fun for the family of 5 age from 10 to 50. Made sure you go over the destinations spots of the guide before hand. Some places close early like at 4pm. If you start at 8am, you should be fine. At 9am, you might miss some attractions due to closing at 4pm. Some of the eateries are OK. Check with Yelp or other reviews. Overall, drive slow and you won't miss a turn. Neeed more Hawaiian music along the drive.

Fun and informative tour. Very flexible and easy to use. It's important to have a good charger available because it drains the battery very quickly, but they warn you of that.

I used this app in Kauai a few years ago and loved it. It guided me to places I would never have known about. I was back in Oahu this year and made use of the Oahu package of walking and driving tours ...so easy to follow and great stories and sights to see!!

Loved the Shaka tour around East Oahu and the full island. Came on a family trip and everyone had something they wanted to see. Fortunately 70% of the stops were part of one of the tours and the other 30% was a short deviation from the designated route. I appreciated the local flavor and lessons about the island included throughout. My one suggestion is that i wish the app included a playlist. I kept hearing good music in the app but needed more for the rest of the drive.

Excellent, so easy to use. It's wonderful to be on upgrade own pace and not on a bus. He suggests possible stops and when you do the app pauses and then picks up when the car moves. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will do another one this trip. He tells stories along the way so it really is like having your own tour guide. 5 stars from us.

Like having a your guide in the car - SUPER fun for families and laid back travelers. It sometimes gets a little corny, so I wouldn't recommend for "too cool" twenty somethings, who might find it goofy. For families traveling with kids, or anyone able to relax and not take things too seriously this is a fantastic deal - I would easily have paid $50 to have this level of overview to the island. Do it on day one of your trip for a great intro, then you can decide where to go next.

Shaka Guide saved our trip to Hawaii. We were traveling just as coronavirus / COVID-19 was just getting aggressive and restaurants/activities were getting shut down all over the islands. Thanks to Shaka Guide, we were able to cover a lot of ground and see most of Oahu, plus learn a lot about its history, culture, language, mythology, and industries along the way. The narrations were current so far as we could tell and we liked the musical interludes. The directions were accurate, though sometimes there was a little delay with the GPS signal and a turn would come up faster than expected, but that was never too much of a problem. Great way to tour the island on your own. It was like having a private guide in your own vehicle and we were able to stop or bypass sites as we wished. It would pair with the car so that the narration would play through the car speakers and through the display, this 2as a great feature. Only downside is it would unsync on its own periodically. Overall loved this app and now looking for it on the other island we plan to visit during our trip!

WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! Way better than the bus tours! It was so fun, informative, easy to follow, and adaptable to your specific interests. We took 8 1/2 hours to do the tour because we stopped and enjoyed so many places, but it could probably be done in as little as 3-4 hours. We enjoyed the music. The driving directions were VERY clear. I would do it again.

This is the first review I have ever written because the app is amazing. If you visit Oahu and have a rental car get this app. The navigation was perfect - even telling you which lane to move to. The narration along the route was interesting and informative. The best part is you can take your time and explore at your own pace, unlike a tour bus which herds you from place to place. Worked flawlessly through the car's bluetooth. I can't say enough good things about it. I would give it ten stars if possible.

Excellent tour system! Very informative along everything turn. If you are looking for a inexpensive way to save your money on expensive tours. I would strongly recommend trying this system out. It's a little confusing on how to get to the tours after you paid for it, but once you master it, it will be worthwhiled. Note: I was it easier for me to go directly to their app, then through a third party. Thank for a great tour!

This is a great app we did both Oahu tours and found the information interesting and app easy to use. The only real mix up we had was driving by the Pali lookout and ended up going backwards on the Pali hwy...right at the lookout it would have been good to have a voice prompt to tell you to stop and park. We didn't do all stops but picked and choosed. If this app was available for other cities we travel too...I would definitely buy again.

Waaaay better than I expected, the voice tour was entertaining, thorough, and informative. The turn by turn directions were spot on and very easy to follow and it was extremely flexible when we went off the planned route. An altogether amazing experience! We did the grand circle island tour and will be doing the east shoreline one next.

We found all sorts of places and information we would not have known. It is a little outdated - some items were a bit different than now (Dec 2019) - and includes "Dad" jokes. Great suggestions and local advice for the traveler. It doesn't always warn you about costs to park and such. Tours worth the cost and more. I have mentioned this app and the tours to several friends when recalling our vacation. I would purchase again.
