So far my favorite app for studying japanese. It shines mostly for kana and kanji. There's too much vocab grouped together to really use it for that, but it's an option that's there if you need it. It also comes with a lot of information to use to study any part you're having trouble with. If I could I'd like to organize vocab based on the Genki books. I could import a new list for each chapter, but I'd have to modify an export myself and know all the things in each chapter.
Really great app with one really annoying issue - when I'm on a vocabulary list and turn off my screen, it returns to the top of the list when I wake my phone back up. This is far more infuriating than it might sound. Every other app on the planet seems to be able to remember scroll positions so why can't this one?
Great app -- love the handwriting practice. The handwriting is still in beta so it's a little overly strict sometimes, but overall it's great. One feature that I'd love is a speed reading practice -- perhaps have it flash words 1 kana at a time at a set pace, and then have you type it. Speeding up until you are reading words/sentences pretty quickly. I think it'd also be great to have a version of the handwriting with where you only hear audio instead of seeing it. Thank you devs :)
This is an awesome app! I was taking the quiz & actually got 48 out of 50 right. I haven't reviewed the Hiragana in about a year & the way it tests you rapidly helps with troublesome ones. It also has sections for every level of the Japanese you are looking to learn. The settings are really thorough on your learning preferences. It even has a section on writing all of the characters. 1st app I have used that worked well even on a Samsung Galaxy cellphone. recommend it for all parties. 🤗
I've been learning Japanese on my own and this app has been extremely helpful at giving just enough information at a time to not be overwhelming; especially in regards to kanji, vocabulary, and grammar. I've been learning for a few weeks and have just gotten into learning sentence structure and actual words and this helps alot. Thank you.
My new favourite app for learning. I have really fallen in love with the function to customize the tests and flashcards to your liking. That way you are not bombarded with information. Another cool function is the hiragana to romanji keyboard test. But i do feel this is not aimed at the complete beginner but someone who is looking for a all in one review app. Keep up the good work
really like this app. I've noticed 1 bug though, the hiragana for RI is drawn one way for the flashcard tests and another way for the handwriting test. So what i practice with the flashcards is completely different than what I have to write. I also have a feature request. It would be so helpful if you could add the same testing for numbers as you have for the hiragana and the katakana. Thanks and keep up the good work!
This is a very nice app. The interface is plain, but it's very simple to use. Conveniently enough, the background is black, so you won't strain your eyes. This app has a lot of useful functions. To the person reading this, I recommend that you try it. I easily memorized hiragana and katakana in just 3 days using it (3 hours of use everyday). 勉強頑張ってね! (Good luck with studying!)
Ive used a bunch of different apps this one is one of the best. It approaches the language frm a more Japanese perspective rather than a translate english one, nd starts with adv topics alongside easy ones for a more wholemes expereicen. PLEASE add a click-to-hear pronounciation, thats all your missing which all the other apps have. (Un = yes and uun = no is too confusing without hearing it)
Best all-in-one japanese character revision/learning app. Can start from no knowledge of Japanese characters and work up to memorising katakana, hiragana and then learn Kanji characters. Even better, there are numbers, basic grammar snd examples of how each Kanji would be used in context. An absolutely amazing app. There are tests to cement your memory. Just keep doing them and you'll have memorised it in no time!
I LOVE this app, I really enjoy the kanji practice mode and Tae Kim's grammar lessons But I have a bug to report. For some reason the kanji practice sometimes bugs out and it turns black, the 'canvas' disappears. Closing, restarting the phone, doesn't fix it. The only 'fix' is reinstalling the app.
This is the best Japanese learning app that I have ever used. As someone trying to learn the language, this app shows all the necessities in a very simple user interface. And above all, the exercises are actually useful.
i love the app, and most things about it but i wish i could hear pronounciation due to im planning on moving to japan. its a good app in alll but i ould like if you added pronounciation the app had most you have to learn but i also wish i could do test to make sure you actaully know but i guess you can look up tests and there should be mini games that have little happy cats dogs ect to make people more motivated to learn and to play little fun games. overall it is a very fun game
Great app! Only complaint would be that the characters are kinda of small in tests; but it's free. The creators clearly put a lot of work into it and even allow you to choose to have ads or not- which I respect so much that I choose to keep ads on.
The perfect app to learn Hiragana/Katakana and Kanji and how to write them, although the writing thing with the symbols is not perfect yet but its far from enough to teach each symbol. With the app I learned how to write every Hiragana symbol in a bit more than a month, to train reading them faster I used Hiragana only texts from the internet. Now I'm learning Katakana and its very fun.
One of the few apps you can practice writing kanji with! Good for extra practice or as a kanji dictionary. No explanations or scheluled reviews though, so it sort of lacks in being a teaching app.
It has a lot i can use. Not just an explanation on every character in Kanji but also examples of where it's used. I enjoy visiting my personal guide a lot.
Easily the BEST app for learning and mastering the Japanese writing system! Have tried many other apps (including the popular Anki), but this is the best for me! I love that it's simple and complete! Everything you need is here - Hiragana, Katakana, 2000+ Kanji - and there's even more - like vocabulary, grammar etc. I love its flashcards and drawing test (no need to create my own flashcards - saves me a lot of time). Thank you, thank you so much for creating this amazing app! ありがとうございます!❤️
I hope you'll change the format of vocabularies. It's difficult to study them if they are in the same page. Ex. If its N5 vocabularies, the list should be by tens.
Honestly this is such an amazing app, I'm self-learning(if that's a thing) Japanese, and I'm making a folder as if I'm a student. Any word I need to know to fill in gaps I just type into Obenkyo and get the kanji symbol for it, plus I get all the variations, so overall this app has helped me learn more. I use duolingo to learn sentences, but I use obenkyo more as it seems to be a never ending source of nihongo knowledge! This is definitely something I couldn't live without! Absolutely brilliant
out of all the japanese study apps I have downloaded and then undownloaded; from the popular duolingo and memorize, to kanji tree or kanji study, none of them compare to the simplicity and incredible usefulness of this app. I have been using this app for over 7 years now and I have yet to find any other one that compares. I love that it gives you all the information that you need right under the letters. If you want to learn hiragana, katakana, and kanji this is the best app for it.
LOVED brilliant app but need for improvements... can't find泱 in search section and could be better if there would be some sample sentences and if search function will become better.... if I search in hiragana then it shows no match or if I search 白い it shows no match.... and finally i searched 白 only then it showed me results... it also don't have capability of searching 月利 ok It's hard but leaving compounds... rest can be done, right!!!!!
I love this app. I've been using it since my first year in college and now i've got a degree in japanese too. as a teacher and even as a student I enjoy using the Kanji's test very much. i hope you can Add indonesia language to the setting, it'll be a great resource for study, especially in indonesia as many student/worker come to japan. overall it's a great experience using this app
Great app! I've got most hiragana done, now slowly doing katakana and will move to kanji. Simple setup no ads. My only issue is that the drawing space on exams has shrunk recently and I can't find a setting to full screen any more.
Great app for studying/revising/testing your kanji, kana and vocab. Also has a grammar section to help you learn the ins and outs of actually constructing sentences as well. Note, the app won't "teach" you Japanese, so if you're a complete beginner looking for exercises/lessons this isn't for you. The only thing I'd like to see added would be to have the pitch accent number/type accompanying the words/vocab so we can learn the correct intonation when learning new vocab.
