The app looks great, but the functionality leaves a lot to be desired. Couldn't find shipmates for days and no one could help. It randomly stopped taking our passwords in the middle of the trip and no one could help with that either. No way to see our account info, or what's happening on the ship today, or anything like that. Carnival's app is of course stupid looking but at least it's effective.

The ideas behind the application features are good, but app is buggy. There are four members in my group, but the locator only works for one of us. It would be nice to be notified of new Chat messages (via either sound or vibration) , but we have not figured out how to configure with notification turned on. The app needs further testing from QA and Software departments. Chat messages should be timestamped, especially since there's no notification when a message is received.

you need download app for the cruise but it doesn't work well ( none of the ocean apps do). drops off wifi, wont open, freezes, need to re login often. it is good in theory but just doesn't work well. many people on the ship complain. when it does work it is nice to chat with friends and locate them, just unreliable. no problems having app open door.

When it works, its feature rich. Does not work most of the time, logs me out frequently despite me using the Remember Me button. Had difficulty finding shipmates at times. And lacks basic features like what times are restaurants open. Their Medallion support team was trying but basically said well you have an Android and we don't know how to fix it. They were clearly using workarounds for wifi problems. For this major of a rollout, they did not test this product enough. Highly frustrating.

made multiple attempts to download and install. It actually completed the download twice but both times failed to install both of those downloads required in excess of 30 minutes to complete and it was very disappointing at the end of the download. The most frustrating thing is that my wife has an identical phone and it had no problems but nobody seems to know what setting it is in my phone that is causing this problem. Finding people on cruise ships is usually impossible, and despite some issues this app does solve that problem. I'd like to see the GPS coordinates in "Ship Information" and would give bonus points if I could use this app with the "spoof location" feature on my phone for keeping my photo metadata and Google Maps location history accurate while at sea.

It is a great idea and could be a fabulous asset, but at least on our ship, the Crown Princess, it simply does not work a very large portion of the time. The lengthy delay in the location of your shipmates is either not accurate or typically they have moved to another location. This app is hardly worth the bother.

Great idea, poor execution. Some of the issues may be related to the horrible Internet coverage on the Sky Princess. But there are usability issues as well particularly when it comes to setting up children so they can use their medallions to track their friends and family. Neither this or the medallion app are ready for prime time

Frequently did not work. Very annoying when you tell someone you will look up where they are and then hook up. At sea there is no cell service so you depend on this working. Better off to set a time and location time to meet rather than rely in this app. Old school is much better.

Princess strongly encourages use of app but works maybe half the time. Error msgs misleading. Says you're "offline" eve. though other Ocean apps working. Cruise mates may work while you don't and vice versa. Extremely frustrating!!! Come on Princess, don't create expectations only to have a horribly frustrating customer experience. Bad form chappie. Onboard tech support doesn't have a clue. Uninstalled a d tried to reinstall... Now it won't install. Go figure.

Shockingly bad app. The Titanic of cruise ship apps--they claim it's the greatest thing on the seven seas but it crashes at every opportunity. Took more than 3 hours to download, only to get a corrupted download and had to start again. Username and password only recognized about half the time. This app is nowhere near ready to release. Once it let me stay signed in, the "wait" symbol was by far the most common thing I saw. Terribly disappointing. I expect better from Princess.

Very problematic app that only works sometimes. It requires your login information to be filled in almost every time you start the app. Just poor design. More importantly, what they fail to tell you is you need to download this Ocean Compass app BEFORE you get on the ship (big 100mb app) to use it to locate your friends and chat, free without paying for internet. Also, the daily patter showing activities is available online without paying for an internet connection too. This app is very handy when it works, but don't rely on it to work all the time.

when this app works, it is great. but this entire trip I had to log in everytime i wanted to use it. i would switch to the ocean now app and get logged out of compass. my ocean log in wouldn't work so I'd have to log in with my cabin information. the concept on all of these apps is good, but they need to be bundled into one, and make sure it works. i could never make it work, then i paid for the wifi. and it would work maybe 35-40% of the time. this was rolled out way too early.

When it worked it was very nice to browse the deck plans. The first night the app didn't work at all, then it finally started to work. I could never get the chat thing to work - apps didn't work at all on my other family member's phone so couldn't use it.

Refuses to install on my Pixel 3. all the other princess ocean apps installed okay. Cleared cache and download manager memory. Rebooted. All several times. 32 GB of 64 GB of memory unused.. I get a popup as soon as the install phase begins stating that it cannot be installed. Installs without problem on my wife's Pixel 3, and on those of friends. Incompatible with something else???

What a ridiculous pile of garbage this app is. It won't accept the credentials I use to log in to the Princess web site, and it also won't allow me to create an account. Any time I enter data in a field and then dismiss the keyboard, it clears the field. Randomly can't find my reservation. Nobody tested this trash at all. What a waste of 101MB.

I installed this weeks before boarding the Regal Princess. When I boarded it did not work so I was told to uninstall and reinstall. I am now on my third attempt, which appears to be unsuccessful AGAIN. Received No help from the "navigators", and about 35% of my phone battery is used up in the process. Ridiculous!! Appears to be useless and worthless!!

Has a lot of technical issues, but once we got it working it was nice. We kept being signed out of wifi and never could find one member of our party. Messenger is ok, but with no notifications is limited on usefulness.

it's not totally useless. can use the messages features for group contact. But no notification until one check the messages. Relying on onboard screen for some help. Cannot find the shipmates location. Perhaps staff handpads can help.

Love the challenge. Once up and running it's great at tracking colleagues on board. Yes there's problems but it's the way to go. Install medallion first. WiFi onboard for 4 devices is great value.

I can't locate/ chat with my own child? While I appreciate the security that random people cannot chat or locate minors, there needs to be at work around for family members. HUGE battery drain. My phone was charged 100% before I went to bed, this app was running in the background along with one other ocean app, and when I woke up 6 hours later my phone was at 4%. I was on airplane mode

At first the app linked with ocean ready to include my reservation. Now not only does it not link to my reservation, but I'm told now that its not supposed to work unless you are on board. This whole suite of apps seems to me to be an epic fail. The app STILL has not been updated to include the Royal Princess, which I sail on in three weeks!! I sent an email to the developer over a week ago, and have gotten no response.

awful app, tried to install 5x. After 20-45mins downloading, it still won't open. Princess really promotes this: the concept is really great but it's a unfulfilled promise that is very frustrating. Out of 11 in our group, 3 managed to get it installed and it kept dropping out and losing passwords. Reading other comments, Princess has had plenty of time to perfect this app.

I'm unable to even begin using this app when it only ever tells me "Unable to create your profile at this time, try again later." It's been over a week of unable to even register. When I do register on the website, it refuses to recognize my password and the password reset feature no longer emails me. This app was designed to frustrate people.

This app fails to install on my phone. It goes through the download process, tries to install, and then comes up with an error message.... "Can't install app" (Error code: -505). Have tried multiple times with same failed result.

Downloaded 5 times and still won't installed. Staff from Oceanfront couldn't help. The app is almost 100MB and took forever to download, I tried two times at Sweden & Finland using WiFi and still didn't work. what a waste of time and efforts. just use Ocean Concierge instead to communicate.

I have a Galaxy S7 and it can't install, even after I tried the recommended actions like clearing Play Store cache and data. I also tried to restart my phone a couple of times. No luck. Keep getting "Can't install OceanCompass"

Probably a good app, however the extremely poor WiFi speed on board ensured the app timed out and never worked. Great concept implemented into a poorly equipped environment.

Ocean Compass downloading for 3 hours onboard. Only at 75%. VERY frustrating program the ship wants us to use to stay connected. We did not come on a cruise to wait in line to be connected so we could enjoy cruise amenities. Princess should have vetted this better before making this a necessary component of cruising. Really disappointed.

absolutely no doubt about it! this app and the 50 different apps for Ocean are TRASH! medallion does not work. spent 2 hours and went through 4 different "room key" medallion and the answer I got from the front desk was well its juat not working.. may the force be with you. Carnival Cruise lines has a wonderful app and dont understand why the same company has such a horrible system on Princess.
