Doesn't cache data, USELESS OFFLINE. UI is slow/clunky. Displays today only, lacks future/forcasts. Not the worst and nowhere near the best tide app... uninstalling now
Simple and user friendly.
Useless. No idea how this has 4.9 stars. No instructions. Nearest tide in another country.
Doesn't work. The tides and basic weather info load after adding a spot but swell was a jumbled mess - and none of the other info shown in the screenshots shows up. Tutorial won't load, only was able to access settings once and couldn't change anything. Essentially useless.
Better UI. Super stable. Best, most advanced buoys app out there with free ride data too!
Lost the virtual buoy and tap to see tide hight on chart after update. Witch was the reason I installed it in the first place was a 5, now just the same junk as all the others
Very stable and precise.
Best Coverage
Use it for the tide and weather aspects which is a breeze. Buoy data is reliable and the sync fast. The spot input wizard is a bit complex at first but you'll get there.
I would like to see tide height as a variable in the future. Not just incoming and out going.
A diamond in the rough of buoy and tide apps.
Use it for knowing when I can take my dog Whiskey down the beach! Great help. 🐋 🐾 🌀 🌜 🌊 🌍
I've been using this app ow for a good few months and at first I was impressed. No I realised how inaccurate the swell and wind reports are. The developer was easy to reach but communication stopped after issues.......
The more I learn about this app the more impressed I am. Some thoughts: 1. The developer is easy to reach and really does reply (even in depth) to your questions and suggestions. 2. The UI is pretty slick and the data is presented in an intuitive and useful way. My favorite is the trending data that shows period and height movement. Rotate your screen and it converts to a graph! I'm giving it 5 Stars based upon it's potential, developer support, and in relation to what is available out their for surfers wanting easy to access buoy swell/wind data. Most buoy apps are a bit lacking, this one has the potential to dominate the pack in a big way. Things I'd like to see: 1. Being able to override spot names. This is helpful because you don't actually choose buoys, you keep selecting spots on land until it synches with the buoy you want. But then you're stuck with a land based name that may or may or may not make any sense. Me, I want to rename them by the actual buoy. 2. Widgetized. I'd love to be able to display the info of my favorite spot right on my phone's home screen, in real time, without having to open the app and drill down to the spot.
I like it. Easy to set up your buoys, once you know how. Very easy to read, even in the sunlight, don't need to zoom in. Very quick to update the buoys with the latest information. Gives you the information to know what the swell is doing. No unnecessary extras to waste time. Tides and weather at a glance. I don't trust the surf reports online, they're often wrong, but the buoys are real. I wondered why the "Time" (of observation) is in GMT and why it doesn't correspond with local time, but found out (by going to NOAA's site) it's because that's how (and when) NOAA releases the information. Excellent.
Hey I love to go razor clamming, and having something to predict the wave height and frequency at the beach during clamming tides is right up my alley - yeah I'm game.
Worked the first day , and not after. Paid for nothing
Works well for South Wales and South West :) Really like the map interface introduced in version 2.3. More accurate/reliable than Magic Seaweed for swell data in my experience....
To start it would be nice to have an option to bring up the map without going threw the process of creating a new saved area. Another thing is my area only picks up 1 buoy. There should be 3-4 in the area that I fish. Would it be possible to click on any part of the map and get an average of the condition between the buoys in the surrounding area? The developer said that he is working on a fix. If that happens I will change my rating and update this review.
This app still has some rough edges, but the author was quick to respond to my questions. For the most part, all the pieces are in place for greatness and the author indicates they're working on an update. Looking forward to it.
Can't see information for my area. No buoys in all of Africa it would seem. Much less Kommetjie and Cape of Good Hope region.
This app is great and has the potential to become even better. It's being actively developed and there seems to be good momentum behind it. Highly recommend!
There are no bouys for any of WA. This would be a great app but the forced bouys requirements makes it difficult. Was hoping there would be bouy markers for Denmark/Albany & Margaret River plus Perth metro
Great for checking tide times, conditions and swell. Useful for local knowledge or traveller into surf spots around the world.
The app doesn't give me tide data for ANY of my selected spots! All it ever does is say no recent data. I expected to be able to see tide information right after getting the app, but it's been a day and it still gives me nothing .
