As a parent, you can create daily routines on your smartphone for what tasks you want your children to assimilate and to accomplish like to brush their teeth in the morning, to feed their fish or to complete a chore. (700+ icons to choose from).
The schedule is pushed to the watch over bluetooth. (Then bluetooth is turned off so that your child is not exposed to radio frequencies).
When a reminder pops up, thru an icon and gentle vibrations, the child knows that they have to accomplish a task. Little by little it becomes a good habit.
We are also working on an optional gamification feature to make the habit forming experience feels more like a game.

It's a marvelous idea, but even after the firmware update I have to sync the watch constantly, per the troubleshooting instructions, because I keep getting "--:--" and the Octopus icon. I'm fairly tech savvy but this is a drag for me and a disappointment for my son, who was looking forward to using it. It's a lot of money for something that doesn't work well and I'm considering taking it back if I can't get it working reliably.
I bought this watch to help my daughter become more independent and responsible for daily activities. Everything worked fine the first day out of the box. After making some changes and trying sync with the changes, the app would disconnect and shut down. It's very frustrating because without sync the watch is useless.
As described below, I too am having syncing issues. It says there is an update... you try to update and it's says 100% complete with 1 minute remaining but never fully completes. I get an error code of err: 0017 0913. My app is up to date, I've signed out, signed back in, relaunched multiple times even tried deleting and reinstalling the app and to no avail the watch is still not working properly. Will be returning the watch. Don't waste your time or money on this product.
The app is ok but there are various problems here and there. For example, I can't get the companion nightlight to stay disabled and the tip of the week keeps popping up after every action. This product started with great promise and transparency but has now become an afterthought.
VERY disappointed. My son just received the Octopus watch for Christmas and we cannot get the watch to successfully sync. We keep receiving errors. We have tried updating the firmware as suggested by the company in another review, but even that errors out. So far, the watch is completely useless. Will update review if we can get it to work.
loved it so much for 2 days. put a lot of work into it setting up schedules and soon fell in love with it. now the app won't work at all. rarely loads the schedules and won't sync. stuck at "getting data" please fix this! *EDIT* The problems are all fixed. Watch works super great now!
Fist time using the watch. it syncs but never completes. it just keeps spinning. as Leo when the watch lights up the time is not correct! so far extremely frustrating. so it finally synced and didnt fail. however the watch is black no clock face and none of the alarms are going off in the watch. uhhg!
As others have reported, this thing won't sync. It synced the first time, but now the watch says "SYNC" and the tablet says "CONNECTED synchronizing... Gathering data" with a spinning red circle. It's been sitting like this for HOURS. What a useless program. We pay a lot for these things, for our kids. the least you can do is fix the bugs with the program. The same thing is being reported over and over and over again. UNACCEPTABLE.
i really loved this at first. My child and I sat down and worked out the schedule, school days, vacation days, weekends, soccer days. was working great the first month. Easy to make updates and change things. Now we arw caught in "Gathering Data" limbo. it was working so well before. olease fix it because I cannot find another handy alternative.
I loved this watch and my autistic son loved his independent ability to know what's next and coming and pointing to his watch and saying what the icon showed as next mom!! But unfortunately the watch is no longer working properly. I have it charged but the screen is not working right the screen has a static and "vhold" (where the lines just keep scrolling up the watch face).
Useless. Takes forever and multiple attempts to sync. Doesn't stay synced so my son never gets any alerts. Great idea and I wanted to love it. we have had for 4 months and it has worked ONCE!
I only give it 3 stars because the calendar doesn't even know the proper month. October is month 10. But it keeps putting down 9. How am I supposed to trust that it notifies my son things the proper day if it doesn't even know what month it is?! Other than that. Scheduling is thorough and easy. A bunch of other cool gadgets.
It won't allow any updates on firmware and I.C.E. information. Just gives me errors and only half the screen works. Very disappointed , we were very excited about this watch.
Notifications are hit or miss, which renders this watch useless. I can't imagine paying a subscription for a "premium" version.
this product is horriable. I wish it worked, because when it does it helps my daughter. the updates a garbage and the watch never syncs with the app.. waste of my money
Well now that I bought my son this $100.00 watch the app to set up the watch and program it doesn't work. My son is Autistic and we were using this for his visual reminder scheduling. I can't even log in, cant create a new account. This watch is now useless. Thanks a lot! Fix the app, otherwise you are stealing people's money. Sell your watch for 100 dollars with no way for consumers to use it- you should be ashamed of yourself
This review is extremely late but Joy still needs to know why I never bought another of their products. Bought two of these, the band was too stiff for my daughter. My son's watch died because the sealing on the display wasn't afixed very well and water leaked in and shorted the electronics.
Unable to sync the watch and update the software. When I sync the watch, the app immediately crashes.
Syncing issues. I can not sync my daughters watch to my phone. And when by miracle I do, I can not keep it synced.
I was so excited about this watch but the app keeps crashing and I can't sync it to the watch. rubbish
Touchscreen no longer works unless watch plugged in, settings to reset watch/update FW missing, sync works intermittently 😡
I gave it a one star because the watch is charging however the nightlight should of turned on. I'll update the review as I set up the account and watch.
Horrible app with no features, no instructions and the watch is just as bad! Stay away from this rip off!

Privacy policy wont load so I can not get the app to load
I really want to like this watch. I actually bought in during Kickstarter campaign. After the delays and retail drama (they wound up in Target before backers, and at a lower price), I held out. We have finally been able to try it again with my 6yo. Unfortunately we are still experiencing daily issues with syncing and losing time. I'm so disappointed, because the watch and app have such a great potential. But they're just not working reliably.
