Online predators are a reality. But now there’s a tool to help parents protect their children from sex offenders. Law enforcement agencies have partnered with OffenderWatch to offer Safe Virtual Neighborhood, a new app designed to notify parents if registered sex offenders contact their children through email or if their child is near a sex offender’s home for an extended period of time. Parents will also receive email alerts from participating law enforcement should a registered sex offender move into their neighborhood.

The Only App Partnered with Law Enforcement
OffenderWatch Safe Virtual Neighborhood is the only app that directly partners with law enforcement to analyze sex offender data. Safe Virtual Neighborhood cross-references sex offender data provided by participating law enforcement departments to monitor who is contacting your child’s smartphone or other device. If the app detects that a registered sex offender in the OffenderWatch Network contacts your child — or if your child is near an offender’s home — you’ll be alerted.
Once you sign up for Safe Virtual Neighborhood, you’ll also be eligible to receive OffenderWatch alerts if a registered sex offender moves into your neighborhood.
How It Works
1 Analyze Sex Offender Data
Safe Virtual Neighborhood uses accurate data provided directly by law enforcement to monitor communications from accounts of registered sex offenders.
2 Monitor Child Device
The app monitors emails and the location on your child’s phone or device—working silently in the background and not interfering with the phone’s use.
3 Alert Parents and Take Action
If the app detects that a registered sex offender contacts your child using those methods, you’ll receive an alert. From there, ask your child about the communication and determine if you should contact law enforcement. The app provides your local law enforcement contact information and tips for talking to your child about online safety.

Too intrusive when it comes to information (ironic). I can literally pull up a criminal's location thru the state Police website. Hard pass. PS Stop sending mailers to people's homes.
I tried creating an account. When I hit continue nothing happens and the button does not light up!
1 star since I haven't been able to log in since installing app and creating account. It keeps saying password is wrong and when you try to reset password the link that you are sent is broken and gives you error code.
I read the reviews but download the app anyway. MISTAKE, all mine did was go around in circles like others had claimed. Since my county sheriff recommended this, if it continues to not work the I will contact him also to let him know this is a waste of our county money. Please don't blow me off like past reviewers.
Their website spins you in circles pushing you towards their "free app" and then of course when you download it they ask for your credit information so they can bill you for a service you know absolutely nothing about. Didn't list anything about a subscription from what I read on the website and I can't stand companies that rely on manipulation tactics to sell product. Usually when they do that it's because the product can't sell itself.

This app is garbage doesn't list ALL sex offenders or their CORRECT & CURRENT pictures and/or residences the NYS Sex Offender Registry online is the best way if you want to know
You want too much private information. Letting me know whether or not there are pedophiles living in my neighborhood shouldn't require any more info than my current location.
All it does is spin and say searching for offenders...no results
I installed it to test functionality , it runs fine on my android and the interface is intuitive but support for tracking offenders in the Caribbean isn't available as of today March 28th 2021 but i plan to use it when i travel to the USA to avoid potential criminal threats.
Does not work!!!!! Won't register my account, but when I tried to register again, it said I was already registered. Tried to log in, but it said there was an error and the little circle just kept spinning. What is the point of this app when it doesn't work? Smh..
Great app best of its kind on the market. Only safe virtual neighborhood is partnered with law enforcement. We feel better knowing where the offenders are relative to where our kids are right now!
DOES NOT WORK! I feel like I was scammed for my info. You can't even delete or remove profile. Got this app to check my surroundings from predatory sex offenders but an error code comes up. Should have read reviews.
Really useful app even for those of us out there without children. Works well to see who is living near by that could be dangerous to myself or those I care about.
I didn't even get past the beginning lol I'm not giving my information for this nor credit cards, I think this app is developed by offenders them self the information all free on watch dog it's public record .

Well now they have my email. I wasn't prepared to put in my credit card info. Funny how they can't with Google play store for subscriptions?
Only for Americans. I suggest adding different country choices cuz we don't have states here. That is, if you have info for other countries
America lets almost all citizens to vote. Even the hella dumb ones that make sandwhiches 9-5 have an impact in election. Now, lets give them a reason to exercise by stalking. Shucks we forgot they own cars and a drive thru 24 7. These people just upgraded to super size meal. ( not proper upgrade btw)

You can find sex offenders near you. Cool app. Basically life 360 but with offenders.

Your being played on a your Fears. This doesn't keep anyone safe. Just investigate it yourself. I actually makes us all less safe by cutting off ALL CHANCES of Redemption and rehabilitation. If it's ok for sex offenders who next?

This app is BAD. Pumps you for an inordinate amount of info about yourself and your kids... It is wrong, for a safety app, to make you feel it is appropriate to ever just give away all this info to an unknown entity at the jump, just because they asked. I signed up then attempted to do one thing - search offenders near me. I let it sit 20 minutes and the search never completed. You can't go back, so I closed the app. Tried again, failed again. This is nonfunctional! Don't bother.
