This turned out to be the perfect way to get to spend less time scrolling social media aimlessly. It took a little while to learn how to set it up, but once I got my weekly off time dialed in, it's been maintenance free. Additionally, it's not too complicated to cancel the off time if there is something I really do need to do in the blocked apps, but those extra steps help me weigh if it's really that important. And it's easy enough to start another off time to make up for the canceled one.

This app helped me a lot. It has also a feature where you customize only a number of apps that you will not be able to use for a certain period of time and not the whole phone. I hope they will add a new feature where the app can be programmed to be activated automatically (pre-scheduled offtime).

I've purchased the pro version and, for the most part, it works pretty well. My biggest issue thus far is that when I use apps that ive allowed such as my phone-calling app, it will not let me have the call window open. I can call, dial out, and talk, but I dont have access to the dial pad during the call or the microphone or the hold button. it just keeps bringing up the error message, sometimes ironically bkinking the phrase, "Call a friend".

The old version was simple, but incredibly effective and did exactly what it had to do. Since the new update, I've deleted the app because it requires way too many permissions, it has completely changed the display, it barely does what it has to, it's too hard to allow some apps to work (such as calls texts from certain people etc), and it essentially doesn't do what I want it to do. Bring back the old version please

Excellent. Ignore the old reviews. The newer version is perfect, even better than apps like Flipd that charge a lot of money. This one is free, no ads, no memberships, just donations, which I'm happy to contribute. The best feature is it lets you create different profiles and each profile can whitelist a set of apps that you choose. It also has a customizable timeout to get out of full blocking mode.

This is an amazing app, it lives up to your expectations and then little. 1. An easy to use system for scheduling or starting a time period of your choice. 2. Yeah, you can schedule a time period too. 3. The apps you choose will be exempted, the rest will be blocked. 4. You can set how to end the time period (known as an offtime) in case of an emergency in the settings, though not during the time period itself. There are plenty more awesome features but the review can't be that long.

Blocks the apps you want, allows you to look insights which is great, and keeps you more productive. My main and only problem is that it causes my Samsung phone to glitch out with calls. Whenever I make a call, I cannot access the page that shows the options and call. It immediately brings me to my home screen and I have to control the call through the drop down screen. I checked if I was blocking anything that would cause that but, I am not and can't work around this.

I am VERY disappointed with the newest version. I had the old version AND purchased pro (~2 years ago). Previously purchasing the pro version did NOT transfer over, which is completely unfair to loyal users. Now, the app is glitchy and does not work as well. It doesn't block all of the apps requested. In addition, it is very slow to use. After having used it for two years and LOVED it, I am disappointed with the changes, disloyalty to previous pro users, and will be uninstalling it.

EDIT: The registration is working now, as are the app features. It has more features than before, so overall I'd say it was a pretty good update even though it had a rough transition over. The app works really well now. The previous version was pretty good, but they've updated the app and required you to re-register in order to use it and the registration page won't work (the login and password request pages do, but the registration button remains grey and un-selectable no matter what I do).

The new version requires permissions before a personalized block list can be set up and scheduled, but I cannot for the life of me get the app and my phone to optimize app battery usage for specific apps. Additionally I have learned that the paid old Pro version, which I had, did not transfer to the new version. The upcoming changes sound fantastic, but I can't use the damn thing and have been burnt enough to just give up and move on.

The developers made a slightly clunky but effective app (old version), then suddenly without warning updated it to a new version without half the useful features it used to have. It stayed that way for a few weeks. Now, the app has its old functionalities back, and it works great for what I need it for. Hopefully something like that doesn't happen again.

I love this app! It is so helpful for productivity and sleep! My only complaint is that the recent upgrade to a new format removed the app from my phone without any warning. There was no tutorial for the new app, so it took me a bit to figure out where everything was, and all my previous settings were lost. So, some more communication from the developer would've been nice.

Kel. C. Jan 5, 2020

This app used to be great. Now it's pointless. The new free version won't allow me to edit what it blocks out. So it blocks all calls, texts, apps, emails, etc. Guess what else does that? Airplane mode. I used this app to block most apps and communications so i can focus on work, but some of them i need- like Calendar, calculator, etc. I loved using the old version in fall of 2019. Oh, and now it makes you register a "user" which basically means they have my email. I've already been emailed 3x.

This is a great app in many respects but it would be much better if you could just block individual distractions rather than having to whitelist permissible apps. It is impossible to whitelist certain system functions which means that my phone doesn't function properly - the chief one that causes problems is the pop up to log in to public Wi-Fi so it is impossible to log on to Wi-Fi whilst the app is running. I have stopped using it in consequence as need to be able to do this to access emails on my commute and in the course of my work.

Okay, so my opinion of this app has improved! First there was the major overhaul of the product itself. Then there was the discovery that you have to change the settings (that Offtime suggests and points out) in order to get it to work properly. Making that change will ensure that the app works properly. Once you've done that, the app *does* work just fine. It isn't perfect, though: I don't understand the punctual vs daily Offtime (aren't they the same thing?).

To me, this app is a companion to my studies. As a student, I am always needing to study, but my distractions sometimes get the best of me. However, Offtime helps me to get into focus by blocking my distractions. Amazing! One suggestion I'd love to see on the app is: a button to instantly allow a pause from Offtime for a specified period of time (for example, 5 minutes). I like to take breaks when I study, and having this function in the app would help me and many other students. Thank you! 😁❤👍

I've been using offtime for a few years to minimize social media interactions during work hours and it works perfectly for that. I like the customizable profiles and scheduling (some of this might just be in the pro version). I've also had interaction with support staff in the past and had my questions answered with no problems. There are occasional glitches that make it impossible to edit profiles, hence 1 star removed. Overall it has been a good user experience and I would recommend this app.

Jes. Jul 30, 2019

I have the pro version. The features are simple & easy to use which is great because less is more when it comes to an app that's supposed to minimize screen time. I feel that the time count for app usage is a little off. It may be due to the fact that when i leave a social media app it is still running in the background. I think a tweak should be made to prevent apps in the background to take up social media allowance. Otherwise the only other option is to remember to force quit the app each time

Ele. W. Dec 24, 2019

I used to love this app, it was perfect for helping me work, even with the free version. Now it seems you can only do a full block for free, which is completely useless for me, as I need some apps when I'm doing work, but want to limit access to others. Will switch to a different app unless selective blocking is bought back for free, as this app no longer meets my needs

Dav. T. May 14, 2019

Note $3.00 for full functionality totally worth it. As for the functionality I can set up a schedule where I don't have easy access to all of my phones functionality so I can focus at work and stop playing with my phone at bed time. If I decide I want to access my phone in this time I have to turn it off and wait 60 seconds. Edit - okay so so far the schedule hasn't performed to my expectation. I wish overriding it only put the offline on hold until I go idle rather than deleting the schedule.

Des. C. Jan 3, 2020

I loved the previous version on this, but now its basically pointless. I can end my offtimes easily with one button. If I had the willpower to not end it immediately I wouldn't be downloading this app in the first place. Before it gave the option to not allow apps to be accessed until the times completely up. It seems we lost a lot of control settings with this update.

Nat. M. Feb 21, 2020

I enjoyed and use OFFTIME regularly (and paid for Pro) before they did a major update. However, they eliminated a feature that was absolutely essential - you can no longer identify important apps that should still be available during an offtime (think payment apps, etc.). In fact, during an offtime, I can't even access the camera, or look at my phone home screen in order to select the apps I would want to use. Without changes to this huge problem, the app is useless to me. REVISED: OFFTIME let me know that when you are selecting which profile to use, there is an "edit" button there, which will allow you to select the apps you want to block or not.

Tob. M. Apr 8, 2020

They finally replaced many of the missing features, but it's still broken to the point of being unusable. I need to make a small change to my app block profile, but every time I try to save it, it says Session Expired. If I try to make a new profile, it says Session Expired. So apparently I am stuck with this one profile I made forever, and can never change it.

Tyl. H. Dec 28, 2019

I would have given the previous version five stars. They recently did a complete overhaul of the app and pushed it out before it was ready. You can now cancel a block instantly which makes it entirely useless for blocking distractions. Even if that wasn't the case, the app can no longer be made an admin so you could just delete it to get around a block. When a block is active it mutes all calls and notifications with no way to edit that. Either restore the previous version or give me a refund!

Dun. A. Nov 24, 2020

I find OFFTIME very useful! With multiple app blocklists and multiple schedules possible, you can tweak to your heart's desire. I haven't been brave enough to block calls yet but I can see when I'd find that useful. The unlock method (long press, wait of 5 minutes etc) should really be set for each program rather than globally. The translation isn't perfect - I had to experiment to find out what 'punctual' is. I also don't use the statistics at all, and don't see a need for them.

zeb. r. Apr 5, 2020

Good app overall. I only have one gripe, which is the offtime notification which keeps popping up on my notification bar throughout the day. This happens when I'm not even having off time. Whenever I have a message notification, the off time message comes up in the notification bar, instead of the message. It's very annoying. Any way to fix this?

Spr. C. Sep 8, 2020

Great for what I need it for: blocking social media during work. Just don't give the app full permission to block everything, because then your phone won't function at all until your offtime is complete. I like that I can turn it off if I need, but it doesn't make it easy and shames me for doing it (that's kind of a good thing, though!)

Kri. R. Feb 10, 2020

Like everyone else, I find the update a total disaster. It's stupidly complicated, has annoying features like "save offtime," and just doesn't work -- blocks apps it's supposed to allow, allows apps it's supposed to block, turns itself off at random, etc., etc. I'd love to hear about any good alternatives people have found. I so wish I'd stuck to my usual practice of reading comments before installing updates.
