Communication in healthcare is a challenge. Doctors still carry around pagers and play phone tag with each other. Patients rarely like calling their doctors and practices, leaving a voicemail, and waiting for a call back.

We set out to simplify communication for healthcare by making it as easy as texting.

OhMD is a simple HIPAA compliant texting platform that allows doctors to securely text message with other healthcare professionals, doctors, patients and care teams. Text messaging with OhMD allows physicians to save time throughout their busy days, decrease phone tag and voicemails, and improve the timeliness of care coordination.

OhMD makes communication between patients and their care teams as easy as sending and receiving a text message. It is a free app for all patients to use with their doctors and care teams in participating practices and hospitals.

How to use OhMD (for Doctors):

Once you create an account, you can invite anyone to download OhMD so you can use it to communicate. This includes patients and colleagues. If you want to implement it across a practice or organization, we offer a ton of flexibility to allow you to build out care teams, message routing, and more. Once you get going, it's as easy as texting.

How to use OhMD (for Patients):

Ever feel like it would be so much easier if you could just send a message to your practice or doctor? Maybe a quick question about a rash or a medication question? Its a good app because you can contact your provider 24/7 but it has so many glitches. It keeps freezing over and over again( i uninstalled and downloaded it like a hundred times already..😭) it takes too long to load and connect . And now ,my gallery won't open so i cant send pictures via my gallery..i hope they fix this because this is a really good tool for patients and providers to communicate. I also hope they put a video feature too so you can short clips.

I am not getting any notifications for any messages. Also, opening and loading messages takes way too long. Very hard to communicate with office occasionally. It does not auto rotate to landscape. Only stays on portrait. Also, the font is tiny. I cannot enlarge the font. I am unable to read messages easily while in the field for home health visits.

This app is awful. It won't even open. At first it just said it was "processing" forever so I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it just won't open. UPDATE: They reached out to me by email immediately to fix the problem. It took a couple weeks, but they fixed the issue they were having with Android systems. They're still having some connectivity issues but are working to remedy it so I updated my rating to 4 stars

This app is terrible. It takes forever to load, it freezes repeatedly, and most of the time I can't open and close it more than once without having to restart my phone. I have reinstalled it more times than I can count, and now it just keeps stating that it is "awaiting approval" from my provider -- which essentially renders the account useless, as I cannot access any info. Tech support and my provider state that the accounts are open. They are not. UPDATE: App is still almost useless.

In general: Slow, won't load messages, won't send without finagling. Specifically: OhMD deleted my chats and can't find my provider despite a conversation that's lasted weeks. I'm missing critical information. This is an important app in theory but in practice this is more frustrating than it's worth. Unless something changes FAST, talk to your provider about literally any other app. EDIT: Logging out/in fixed. Tech support is good. Still really darn slow, but.

Incredible customer service and very flexible plans to meet my company's unique needs. It is obvious this team has a client-centered focus. they are quick to respond and very helpful. Was able to complete the setup. There seems to be some issue with selecting a photo during the setup. Skipping that step seems to have fixed the problem. When logging in via the website, the photo shows, but it seems to not stay in the photo window in the app. I have access to my contacts now and can invite patients. I am not clear on what that does, as I was under the impression they would not need to download or install anything. Perhaps they are agreeing to receive SMS from me?

Can't complete sign up process because I never receive a text code. No alternative way to sign up online. My carrier is Google Fi but I've never had problems receiving text codes from other sources. I've reached out to support staff and they are never able to resolve the issue. - update: after posting a negative review I did finally get the help I needed to complete the sign up process. Wanted to like this app. Customer support helpful and nice, but app is too buggy. Photo doesn't stay in profile. Even if you invite patients to communicate, they can't find me as a provider. You have to keep logging out and back in and still does not work. Useless for my business at this time, but I'm willing to reinstall if OhMD can fix all the multitudes of problems.

Damn worst app!!! I click on my legit provider to communicate with him and the damn page does not load.. it keeps saying reconnecting... reconnecting.... reconnecting... In the middle of a conversation I needed to get back to him but this app is all messed up. It is very slow, and sometimes asks you for your password twice cause it didn't get it the first time. I need to contact my provider. This app was referred to me by my caregiver and it is so unreliable.

I like the premise of this app, to keep in touch with your Healthcare providers for scheduling purposes and all of that. However, the app hangs badly upon open, hangs badly when you switch to it from another app, and takes minutes to load recent messages. I think a good polish would do wonders for this app.

There are still problems with connectivity and loading messages. App informs me that i have a message but cannot open it. I tried to send a reply but the send arrow kept on circling and nevere was sent after 2 attempts which took over 20 mins of my time. "Reconnecting " keeps on showing and i can't type anything. So very frustrating!

Stopped working this week. I keep getting "OhMD stopped working" message when I try to open the app. I uninstalled/reinstalled the app and restarted my phone. However, I still get the same message. I have sent a message via the "send feedback" option several times, however, I have yet to receive a response or even an acknowledgement of my feedback submission from the developers as of today. Today is DAY 3.

This app was working great and now all of a sudden I can't even open it. it is crashing every time. I was expecting my doctor to message me back with test results regarding baby and I can't even get in to see the results. Huge inconvenience since I message the doctor at random parts of the day...usually when they're closed. update - the app is working again! I love out when its working and it's only been down this one ti.es which was due to the phone bring too new for the app

Wanted to like this but I hate it. Have to uninstall and reinstall each time to see messages. Ill get notifications of messages, but when I go in app its a blank screeen. I have tried clearing cache, turning wifi on and off, only thing that works is uninstalling and reinstalling. All my coworkers with android phones have same ongoing issue. Super frustratung when you need to dep on app for work.

My provider has asked me to use this app. But unfortunately it just continues to recycle through the profile picture part. So after skipping the picture I go to enter birthday and gender and get a java script conversion error. Thus unable to complete the sign in and unable to use the app.. have attempted reinstalling and closing the app and reopening. Same experience

I've used this app for a couple years or so by now and it remains terrible. unreliable. loading issues, lack of notifications. The patients I communicate with understand that I might not get back to them based on that. web interface is fine, but I'm giving up on this app and no longer including it in the ways patients can reach me. AVOID.

Horrible app. It doesn't always alert you when you get a message. It also crashes multiple times a day even with newest updates and phone restarted. It's extremely slow to load and freezes while you're typing. I would NOT recommend this app to anyone!!

Ultra glitchy. Notifications only come once in a while, messages sometimes don't load or are hours late. Crashes ALL the time. Edit: I had left a 2 star review but im dropping it to 1. So buggy and delayed my messages are not sending 20% of the time. Dates are often wrong on the messages, leading to appointment issues. A nightmare of an app.

Update: OhMD responded so swiftly to this issue! Great customer service. I even got an email from them making sure it works now. Customer service can make or break a company. Nice to see it done well. Original: This app worked great until the update 29Mar. Now it wont open at all so I cant see a message about my appt for today. i even reinstalled. I'm on a Galaxy S8. Pls re-update. I will increase rating once it is fixed. usually works really well.

Great in theory but I get message alerts and the app never loads the messages for me to see! The message screen is completely blank and refreshing doesn't help. Only way I can see messages is by going to the email and opening the app through the "Download for Android" link which takes me to the App Store!

Terrible. I couldn't set up my account from the very beginning. The app would shut down whenever I tried to upload a photo, wouldn't recognize the patient identifying information and kept giving me an error message. Looks like this app is in need of a major overhaul in development.

l really like this app, and up until now, it hasn't given me any issues. But now it just won't open. The app can't even make it past the opening graphic. I'm frustrated because this is the only way I can contact my therapist. I'm still receiving notifications from the app when my therapist sends me a message but I cannot open the app to respond to her. Please help!

I'm a therapist and was asked to use this at the clinic I work for. Unable to complete registration, as soon as I get as far as entering the name of my organization the app freezes and force closes, have tried multiple times with the same result. Android 12, Galaxy s20+. Couldn't find any tech support contact info on the website?

If there was a zero I would rate it. Totally useless app. Takes a lot of time to load or keeps stop working and shutting down. I think HIPAA should have come up with better solution. Disappointed 😞

Terrible app. Text is small as a piece of rice. Contacted customer service and I was told nothing could be done to increase font. Riduculous. Will be phoning my Dr. Instead of this useless app. Read one of the responses from the App: We'll fix for those who want large text. This is not an issue of large text this is an issue of normal text should be provided. Gee Wiz!

The app refuses to work. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app, it won't let me pass the blue loading screen. Not allowing me to text back until I close and reopen the app is one thing, but outright refusing to let me through the first screen is horrible.

Ok Devs let's get it together. The app on iOS runs without a hitch. I'm having to use my personal phone to make sure I don't miss patient messages because here on my Note 10+, I get zero notifications and the app doesn't seem to refresh without being forced closed. Very disappointing.
