Okiya - Free Board Game

If you are looking for a smart game whatever for kids or adults and you are sick of Mahjong or Tic Tac Toe then Okiya is the best choice for you! Okiya is a relaxing strategy board game for 2 players. Play for free with your friend (only offline yet) or with our smart robot.

Playing Okiya is easy. Like in Tic Tac Toe in Okiya you should collect combinations of cards (4 in a row, 4 in a column or 4 in a square). Like in Mahjong you should pay attention to symbols on the cards. Every your step defines your opponent's next step. You can find more detailed information at the Game Start section below.

Game Features
• Ability to play with a bot with three different levels of difficulty
• 2 players mode
• Atmospheric illustrations
• Oriental flavor
• Batch duration up to 5 minutes
• For two players from 7 years

Game Start
There is a Japanese garden in front of you. Two players represent two geisha houses: red and black.
The playing field is a square of 4x4 consisting of garden tiles.
Each tile shows one of four types of vegetation (maple, cherry, pine or iris) and one of four types of poetic symbols (rising sun, bird, rain or tanzaku - the small pieces of paper on which people sometimes write wishes).
The first player removes any card from the edge of the field and places a token of his house instead.
The second player's turn depends on the previous turn. The second player can remove the card with the same vegetation or with the same poetic symbols.
For your convenience, all possible turns are highlighted.
Further, the players take turns the same way trying to fulfill Victory conditions.

Victory Conditions
• Line up 4 geisha tokens of your color: vertically, horizontally or diagonally.
• Lay out a square of 4 your geisha tokens
• Block all moves to the enemy

Ads show up right in front of the playing area, hiding some. These are persistent links to install stuff, not the 30 seconds kind of ads. Also, no way to get to settings (maybe there's a button for it, but it's behind the ad banner!) and turn off the music: if you're not in the mood, you'll be hating the whole of Japan within half a minute. The game is nothing special. Installed and uninstalled in about 15 minutes (including the time to write this).

I dont see any credit given to Bruno Cathala who actually invented the game. Whether you win or lose, the result screen blocks the board so you cannot revisit how you did. I don`t know what the currency does. There is nothing to buy but I clicked on the icon to get +10 but I had 5 already so it should be 15 but the total at the end was 10. The achievements do not work. The biggest negative is that to do well at the game you have to calculate if I go here, then my opponent can go here and here and here, now if he goes here, then I can do this, but if he goes here ... so on and so forth. This is a calculation most do not want to do. In a real game, it promotes AP or "I could have did better if I took the time but did not care enough" style of playing.
