Used to work great, but after playing with this again Ollie will not connect to my phone. Bluetooth is on and it has sufficient permissions, and it will connect to an IPhone but not my Samsung S9, it just tells me to wake ollie up when it is already fully charged. I don't understand why this is happening and hope this can be resolved so I can give a higher rating.
I've newly installed on a google pixel 1 phone. I press Drive icon, I tap Ollie, it lights up blue, then the app cycles to initializing... and after the circular backspace fills completely, it just stays on "initializing...". Cannot proceed. After resetting several times, I was able to get this connected and able to play for about 5 minutes. The orientation often loses direction after a few bumps. It seems you have to adjust direction every once in a while to maintain accurate driving? Now I lost power to Ollie, it clicks like it wants to move but nothing happens. There is still power in the device. I tried resetting and reconnecting, but back to issues of connectivity after the "initializing...".
was extremely disappointed when I unsuccessfully spent a few hours trying to get it to connect to my phone. My phone mets all requirements. I've never had any problems connecting anything up to my phone from drones to vacuums and even dog toys. their support was terrific though. with their troubleshooting was finally able to get the ollie connected. that is the only reason I gave this app to Stars instead of just one star. now that it's hooked up it works great
Trouble connecting. I love the app. Its really fun to use my my ollie darkside. However, Every time i try to connect, right when its done, it just freezes and sometimes crashes. And when I try again, I hit the drive button, and the app crashes. It gets really annoying.
I really love this product. The app is good too. The only things that need to change is that you need to remove the idle movement. My Ollie has fallen off of tables several times because of it. This app also needs some support for wider screen devices.
The app keeps freezing in the middle of updatimg the Firmware. I have not been able to run ollie at all since I got it because it keeps disconnecting and then flashing red. Ive tried using multiple internet connections always with the same result.
Doesn't connect at all all. Extremely disappointed by the fact that my Ollie dark side doesn't work. You can't drive the Ollie without the app which means I have 120$ of plastic in front of that I can't even use. I hope you read this review before you buy one if they're even still available. And yes my Bluetooth is on. App is a deffect.
I like playing with ollie for the first day, then i got bored, I love playing with sphero because it had quests and leveling up and nifty little things that were pre programmed, ollie, all he can do is roll around and spin on his side and freakout, notsing or dance, or score a touch down, would love it to be implemented. That concludes my rant. Thanks for reading.
What is going on with this app? This used to be so much fun. I have three of these robots and I can't use any of them. The app won't connect. It stalls midway. As It is the sphero sprk+ has a non replaceable battery so after about a year they are junk. My students love these things. Too bad. Won't be buying products from them if they won't continue to support them and they just become landfill. Will let our science teachers and elementary schools know not to order them.
No reverse function or regular steering mode. What happened too forward back left and right. Oh and if I didn't mention it reverse . This thing can get pinned to easy. Needs reverse...reverse....reverse
I think theres must be minu games for ollie as sphero also an offloading mode, everyone it's saying it's the lack of power but I think it's a software issue. Overall the ollie by sphero it's a pretty good robot.
A Christmas present for my two boys. I will be contacting sphero the product is rubbish, a lot of claims but very unfunctional. If I don't get a satisfactory response I will be taking the matter up with Australian consumer protection. The Ollie works for a while then seems to loose its connection and sits in one spot all confused, send into a spin and it appears to drive again until it looses direction or hits something then it returns to a state of confusion. I'll be asking for a full refund.
It's awesome when it works but I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the app to get it to work it only connects the first time and after that it just freezes up on the loading page
This thing is very bad,it doesn't connect to my Ollie fix this very quickly or it is gonna be affecting all the people using an Android phone. It also gets stuck when we press Drive and we need to take a lot of procedures to make it work.
Used to work but not any more. Get stuck at 30% while connecting after like 5/6 min it connects but again app get stuck when it asks to rotate screen. Overall horrible buggy app now. Even developer doesn't have any solution.
I thought it was a great only problem is the ollie loses the communication if u leave the app or device turns off. That might the problem with the screen freeze because that's what happens when you go back into it.
it keeps trying to make me rotate my screen in ways that don work and then crashes. frustrating to have to keep reconnecting the device (every 1.5 mins or so) only played with twice. we use it more to throw outside than anything. worthless
Worst app ever has a lot of problems like- 1 ollie never connects 2 sometimes the app stops working 3 sometimes when I move the joystick but ollie does not move(with ollie fully charged) 4 app hangs but if I try to move the joystick ollie moves 5 sometimes app disconnects from Ollie and still tells that it is connected. Please fix these problems with the app.
won't even function. when i open the app, sync it etc, it comes up with the driving part as normal, but as soon as I press the dot the sounds become really loud and claim for the app to be updating, yet it never reaches 1%
I used to play this alot on my iPad but now the app is unable to be installed by iPad. I have it on my Samsung phone now but it's telling me to 'wake up Ollie even though the light was green and Ollie was fully charged. Can someone reply to this please? I really need help
The robot is cool, but the app keeps freezing i unstalled then installed it and it sill froze. Who ever buy this good luck. Also, i hope they can upgrade the robot and the app in the future,
Come on Sphero. Why wont you just patch the app? I had a feeling that Android 10 woukd break it and I know that the ollie was kind of a bust but just make an exception for this please... I know I can use edu to still drive it but this one has all the cool tricks.. please just patch it. I own both the original ollie and the darkside and I dont want then just lying around. I've traded in my old galaxy s6 for an s9 and I have no other devices to use the app with now.
Overall great device, only problem is when you spam revolt on the trick pad it delays all inputs you put afterwards. Please fix but other than that awsome.
Overall, I think its good. However, like on some of the other products & apps. after Sphero, it lacks the tilt steering option where you can control the robot by tilting the phone if you want. The original Sphero app. had this option but seems to be missing in the later apps. Like for the Droids and this app. (Not sure why this option was not included in the newer apps. since I think it's just a software app. solution.)
