Recent update made this app worthless. I ended uninstalling it. Not at all user friendly like the old app where you could quickly scan sections and articles. For example on the Aug 23 update, I went to the News Section to look at the latest news and the first item was "celebrity birthdays". Really? How is that even news. Will not be renewing the paper either as it has become so thin. They have to print obits now so large to take up 2 to 3 pages which in the past could fit on a half page.
Ads lockup my phone! I cannot read articles. I have deleted and reloaded. Twice. Same result.
Not a big fan of apps that cover the entire screen with ads. But when the ad just sits there worth no apparent way to make it disappear, it's intolerable. Makes it hard to read the news. Which is the actual goal of a newspaper, btw.
Previous version detailed which stories were subscriber only content and which weren't. There was even a separate section for subscriber only. New version has them all mixed together and it takes 4-8 clicks on the back button to get out of the "login" area on subscription articles.
Latest upgrade flattened it out and made it harder to search. Also seems much less responsive to screen touch. Can't tell when you're going to get a subscription-only article until you are in it.
It appears the app has been hacked. I am on a Samsung phone. I get rerouted to a spam page often when trying to read a story. It never happened until this new version. I am a paid subscriber. Also of note, it is just this app. All the other ones work fine.
I've had the OWH app for several years now and it seems like every update makes the app worse and worse. Not to mention that paying subscribers still get those annoying pop-up ads. This app is absolutely garbage.
Pretty crappy, I get a notification for a headline and it doesn't open, just gives me a spinning wheel. I have to close it and open it back up every time and then find the article I wanted to read.
The content is good but the app constantly freezes up. You go to read an article and an ad pops up and then it freezes. I even pay for a subscription.
Every time I open an article, it will show the article only for a brief moment before saying "404 Error". This has been happening nonstop in the past 3 weeks. Used to work just fine. Fix your app!
I have a paid subscription to the paper, yet the app has tons of annoying ads. I want to read a story and it launches the browser and takes me to their website. I have no idea why this app even exists. Uninstalled.
For the past month, I have gotten a 404 error when trying to read articles. I reinstalled the app. That seemed to do the trick. I see the app was last updated about the time the errors began.
I pay a yearly fee for this app and yet I still have to deal with ads.. Ridiculous! Update: I canceled it all and deleted the app from my phone.. Read the reviews.. This company does not care about the product or the customers.
Wants full access to files on my device for what reason (bank statements, credit card info, tax filings, etc)? Probably to use the contents for nefarious purposes. UNINSTALLING and I recommend everyone else does, too !! PROTECT YOUR IDENTITY!!!
Large ads cover news stories. As a 7-day subscriber, I should be able to log in and have ads go away. I cannot do so. Sports stories crowd out other news. Not a source of news, but a static sports channel.
No ability to filter for types of news alerts (i.e., Breaking news only, or No sports). Forced ads, many with audio, despite paid subscription.
Every time I try to read an article an add pops up and freezes the app. Unable to close the add to view the article.
Every attempt to open an article results in an error message. Used to work fine but recently became useless.
Crashes every time I try to open a story. Canceling subscription. Decided to uninstall and never use again. Much happier now.
New app doesnt work. Read your reviews and fix the problem OWH! Edit: It's almost hilarious a year later and your app is even worse 😂😂😂 now its showing EVERYONE a Error 404 message lmao. Fix it or ditch it.
Bombarded with ads, mostly repetitive, despite paying for a "premium" account. Some ads loud, some offensive. No news outside of Nebraska.
The latest update has made this app unusable, articles wont open with the text, just endless pictures, added just uninstalled after reading the other reviews after latest update
Get 404 page not found errors in app. Even though paying customer. Trying to call customer service has you in queue for over an hour.
404 error whenever I try to open an article :( But I love reading the World-Herald from a browser!
It is limited with what you can read. Although I now live in Omaha, I prefer the Lincoln Journal Star app to this one for Nebraska news
Hard to find things. Old news, stories are not updated.
I pay for the paper, and have to see ads. Also ads make noise.
And then one day it wouldn't open. Uninstalled, reloaded, no change.

This app needs help. Full page ads are intolerable, especially for paid subscriptions. Landscape navigation on the e-edition COULD be great if it didn't keep freezing or randomly reloading. Please get a good development team on this asap... it's pretty miserable.
