Super disappointed right now. This app worked perfectly last year for my trail rides as was able to save and reuse multiple tracks. Whatever changes they made destroyed this app. Now when I choose a saved track in portrait mode (the only way to choose one) and then flip it to landscape mode to mount in my side-by-side, the track completely disappears and no way to access it again until I put it in portrate mode. It's not the same as it used to be. Won't renew my paid membership. Galaxy A7 Tablet
I believe they are adding features all the time. I purchased this without any research off recommendation from YouTube channels. After comparing with Gaia gps there are some features lacking in onX. like the ability to download an entire track without having to download mini sections. Seems there are many more points of interest and detail in the Gaia. I am confident they will soon be very competitive. I will continue to use and hope for updates. It is a good tool now sure it will be great soon.
Love that it shows trails that are not on AllTrails....but wish the app was more like the AT app. It crashes ..a lot! About half the time I can't get it to navigate to, it just says 'go to' and that is NOT the same thing. It needs to be more intuitive. Overall, the content is great tho!
Lacking content. Not very user friendly, in my opinion. It would be nice if showed dispersed camping information associated with trails. How about color designations for types of trails? 50", single track, forest logging roads. Call me an idiot, I don't care, but I don't find this app to be of great value. I find trying to use it to be VERY frustrating.
. Just dont expect it to work on apple using google maps. The go to my waypoint will crash every time. Very dissapointing in that aspect. Google maps has offline downloading of nav maps apple maps dosent. Apple maps can get you out into the woods but cant get you out. Now the app has started crashing on LG v60 mostly with gestures go back exit swipe seems to make it crash every time. Very poor. I really want to love this app but? Refund please.
The elite plan and I have garbage! When I went from portrait to landscape all waypoints and routes disappeared and never showed up again even when I went back to portrait and now the app does not work at all. I will keep you updated if this gets resolved. I am on a Samsung Galaxy s22
App is just okay. The zoom is terrible! You have to double tap to zoom in but then there's no way to zoom out. And there's no info on private property that's onX claim to fame. I'll definitely won't renew I'm looking at other apps now. Edit 4/4/2022 pinch to zoom never works. Unless I delete cash and uninstall the app then reinstall. Not so comforting while trying to use on the back country of Wyoming. The app is a great concept but fails every time when used in real real world. Save your money
This is the best app I have ever used off road. They give you every bit of information you need to be able to go wherever you want, and know who's land who's property and how to contact them. You can call them and ask for permission to cross through their property. By far the most detailed map. Google map has nothing on these guys. Recommend it to every friend and now I'm telling you about it make sure to get the app and get your premium and elite subscription. Dnice._destinations Instagram👍
Will not let set up account. A total waste of my time. Ok so I got the app to worked partially now when I go to open the app it doesn't fully open. I have to restart my phone and then it will work for a while. I am anxious to use the app but it doesn't always work.
I save maps offline. Then when I go to area. Maps constantly look like it's trying to connect to server. I don't understand the purpose of saving map if you can't use it off grid. Android phone.
This app is awesome for finding trails in Alaska. The majority of our trails are not marked trails like the rest of the US. You have to search by satellite. This app has the best imagery and has a great trail marking feature.
Needs more options for removing or adding layers. Map is hard to look at a lot of times because there is too much overlay on the map. Doesn't do me any good to look at terrain when there is a bunch of junk covering it up.
2nd review since my first review seems to have selectively disappeared. I signed for a subscription off line maps never come up unless I am connected to the internet, defeats the whole purpose. App is glitchy overall a poor example of good software development.
So far so good. I like the ease of use. While it doesn't matter to the navigation, it was kinda trippy to see all the properties with owners names.
Great app. One feature I like happens to not work. I like the app to stay awake when I'm running a trail. Even when I select the option to do so, my phone still goes dark so I'm always having to unlock my phone while driving. Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong? I otherwise enjoy the app, the trail ratings are super handy. The search feature could use some attention, it would be nice to filter results go find specific trails.
Android Auto functionality is finally here (thanks!), but definitely needs work. Still a good start toward creating a mapping app that actually works with my vehicle's navigation screen. Although roads and trails are missing in some areas, and the types of off-road classifications are very subjective, the data should improve over time. Just having a map showing potential trails AND public lands (including BLM) is very useful, even essential, no matter what you ride or drive.
I am disappointed with onx off-road. The app itself is very good and the web interface is nice however, I bought a year subscription back in December with the intent of mainly using it with android auto. The release was delayed and now that it's out, it's basically useless. It's nothing more than a rendered map overlay showing your location. It doesn't show satellite maps, any of your offline maps (which you need when you don't have data) no option to record a new route, leave waypoints etc.
Without a doubt the best off road app for truck camping out there. I've looked at most all and, for my exploring experience, onX is the best. I like the trail ratings for helping to decide if I want to tackle those that run into more technical adventures. Wandering off the beaten path is what I enjoy and now I feel more confident than every about being able to know where I am and how to get back. Whenever I need to contact support, they have responded within minutes, not days like some of the other GPS/trail apps out there. I get to speak with a human (!) that is very knowledgeable of the product (not just some checklist phone bank) and well versed in customer service. Such a rarity in today's bot-centric support world. Highly recommended! I have a 4x4 with a camper and enjoy boondocking in areas that provide unique locations for night/landscape photography.
Icons under tools menu are cutoff using galaxy tab A. Also the menu at the bottom can only be seen with portrait orientation and not landscape. Unfortunately that is holding me back from buying premium.
I had a recent complaint and suggestion about app crashing and they actually fixed it within a week. Works just as intended now. Just need to work on the android auto functionality, and this will be golden.
I have onX Hunt for years, and love it! Just changed over to onX Offroad and love it also! Used onX tech support to make the change, and for help in moving all of my waypoints from onX hunt over to onX Offroad....great service! Great product!
I have an elite membership and I purchased for snowmobiling. I would expect it to have up to date trails as to which where closed and re-routes of current ones. The maps are out dated. Some of the trails have been closed for years. They still show up as open on this app. You are much better off with the free Polaris ride app than spending money on this.
This app is super handy, as newbie using this App I was able to utilize it rather fast. I found on the trail it was very detailed & accurate. Once it becomes usable with Android Auto, there will be no gong back,, having on demand info. while driving is so valuable, I can't wait! Customer service is very responsive and helpful A+!
No navigation. When tracking where you are none of the pre programed waypoints show. Total pain to download offline maps of an area.
I paid for a membership for this service. My phone is a galaxy a52 in the settings all the goes to the memory card. I have a galaxy s9 tablet. I have no option to change the settings to my memory card I am very disappointed with this app
Hope I can get a refund. There are no trails listed by me and I drive them all the time.... Danbury WI? There is 100+ miles of atv trails... you can see them on the sat image. So 100% waste of money.
I am from Southern Ohio. This app is completely missing Haspin, Dirty Turtle, Vinton county trails, and anything that we have have around here. I think this is made for people out west. App is useless to me. Instant regret. It's sold as maps for offroad but they only have hiking trails.
I wish that the premium version included the landowner information. That was the main reason I purchased the app. I can't see paying 100 bucks just to have that info when I have it on the hunt app. I just can't use the hunt app in my truck through Android auto.
Frustrating app. Could be good but has bugs. Can't use with direction always up or it freaks out and rotates like a pinwheel. Free Google maps works better.
Seems to be stuck in some strange angle view, hate this view, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but if I can't solve it, I won't be renewing my subscription. Quick response from the developer, corrected the problem in the current update (the 2d map button was missing) but now able to switch back between 2d and 3d, glad to see it was fixed, thank you.
