Awesome concept. App needs a lot of work, it looks ourdated and is pretty buggy. Would recommend that you ask for the deposit and first top-up all in one go instead of two. Reporting bike page doesn't really submit reports by the looks of it. People keep putting bikes inside building - not sure what you can do about that. And I don't see why there isn't a remote lock button on my phone for when I forget to lock the bike. Overall, great experiences but app needs some work.

This app needs a way to easily submit an issue for either a bike to be repaired or an issue with a trip. This would be able to be accessed from viewing previous trio history with some kind of help button. There should also be a way to report bike that have bee taken into people apartment buildings. Very frustrating to walk to a bike only for it not to be there as it's inside. I realise theses issues can be addressed through an email, but it's not at all streamlined or worth the time and effort.

Great concept, bad experience. Had some fun rides. Too inconsistent to rely on as means of travel when timing is an issue; found bikes several times and was presented message Bicycles are Occupied despite that really not being the case... My account was charged $10 for an overnight ride which I didn't do (obviously, i mean who would ride a bike from 9pm-7am?) Have not been refunded despite numerous times making contact with customer service through the app. Deleting because my balance is at nil and I don't trust them enough to add more money in case it disappears like last time. Hope the technological issues get ironed out. Mainly the app was the problem it is clunky af.

2/3 of the time you either can't rent a bike because there's some random "Unknown error" or the bike's falling to bits. And if you can get hold of an intact bike, most of the time it sounds like it might fall apart at any minute. It's a shame because I really like the idea, and it's great on the rare occasion that you can rent a functional bike, but I've given up trying. Just buy a bike instead. You can get one from the tip shop or even free at mechanical tempest in Newtown in better condition.

Frustrating and time wasting. Any time you want a bike the first 5 or 6 you find will either be broken or "Not responding" when you do try unlock it. If you do succeed in unlocking a bike, but it then turns out to be jammed or broken, you will still get charged $0.25 for the honour of trying. Ive also been asked to pay my $10 deposit three times before i can unlock a bike, despite the fact that I've already paid. This could be so good, but instead is just a waste of time

A really good idea. I would love to use Onzo every day but the app is so buggy and the bikes are always broken (the app's last bug fix was in February so no surprises there). The app constantly says 'bicycle is occupied' when you try to unlock a bike - and your account balance still gets charged $0.25 when this happens! When you do manage to unlock a bike, either the brakes aren't working properly, or the mudguards are bent into the wheel.. good idea, bad execution

App doesn't work all the time. There is error sometimes and it's impossible to scan a bike or even to find where the bikes are because the map doesn't show any of it. Some bikes need repairs, you can easily find broken bikes all around. And to complete, the biggest problem for me is that you locate the nearest bike, than you go to the address and there is no bike at all. Probably people are hiding the bike in their garage or something like this, but it show have a way to prevent this to happen.

This app is seriously buggy, makes me not want to use onzo bikes at all when I have to stand around trying to scan one for 10 minutes. Often it is asking me to pay a deposit (already paid) and won't let me scan the bike, so I have to refresh it a bunch of times. Then when I try scan & the scanner won't work and inputting the QR code won't submit. Today I had a totally new bug!! When I thought it couldn't get worse.... I tried to unlock a bike clearly not in use and onzo app tells me 'bicycle in use' then I walk away, 2 minutes later and the bike unlocks!!! Luckily I got back to it before someone else took it for a spin. Pretty annoying.

App is a good piece of integration and generally works well. I love being able to pick up a bike anywhere in the city and help me get around. Occasional bugbears are the message 'bike is occupied' when scanning, even though the bike is locked and apparently available. New yellow bikes (Jan 19) a big improvement.

EDIT: bikes are gone from Wellington, and they still have my money, with no way to get the refund back. Shameful. OLD REVIEW (4/5): Surprisingly easy and fun. If they keep making the app slicker and keep the bikes available and maintained I'll use it every day (in Wellington). Feature Requests: * Stop popping up "How to OnzO" messages every time I start the app. It's really annoying when you've been using it for a while. * Please do a journey tracker so I can look back at my rides and their stats. * Do more granular distances rather than for each kilometre travelled.

Sup. M. Feb 14, 2019

Great when it works. Most of the time we find bikes are "occupied" or errors like "lock offline" or "temporarily not working". I wont be using it again because it's pointless walking a kilometer only to find a damaged bike or an occupied bike, just build an auto lock into the software and charge idiots who dont lock their bikes properly! I do feel sorry for onzo in some ways because some users are just scum and treat the bikes badly, leaving it in an unusable condition...another huge problem.

Mar. L. Oct 28, 2018

App does not ever get past the first splash screen. Therefore it is 100% unusable. I have the required Android version, yet it doesn't work. Have tried on 2 separate phones of the same Android version. Same result. Please debug and fix your app.

Having loads of trouble with the app. Even though I've paid the deposit and used onzo several times, about every third time I open the app it tells me I need to pay the deposit.... Which I'm not going to do a second time. I would have used and spent more money on onzo if the app worked and (when the app actually recognises that I've paid the deposit) allowed me to unlock bikes that appear to be unused and locked. This could be a wicked service if they ironed out these issues.

Sha. B. Oct 16, 2018

Just a poor first experience. I had to go through three steps before I could scan a bike (register, pay a deposit, then top up my account), only to then find the bike wasn't available to use once I could scan it. Now I'm late for my train due to the time that took. Here's hoping for a better second experience

Kiw. A. Feb 27, 2019

terrible. buggy software. followed instructions to lock bike... charged me for the whole day and still going... no customer representative even available to talk to... so I'm still being charged... 8 hours and counting... ridiculous... I just reattempted locking the bike but no success. Also... helmet missing. took aaages to sign up (about 10 mins) and needed to enter credit card details twice (by design). Worst experience.

The sleekand simple design of ONZO is truly a marvel to behold. The way these bikes glide through the Wellington air is a beauty matched by none. The yellow and black paint job is elegant, refined, subtle and ruggid all while matching Wellington's existing yellow and black colour scheme. The app is good too. ONZO GANG

Ale. K. Oct 7, 2018

The app is not good. The "Welcome" register screen is everywhere, even if you are registered. The card details must be entered every time in full with a bloody capture screen. The feedback on the ride cant be entered. The 20" wheel bike cant go much faster than a pedestrian. The helmet is very thight for me with no ability to adjust further. The rear brake was not working. Really hope that the app and the service will be impoved as the igea is great.

Moh. A. Oct 22, 2018

2 stars because : It asks for several times for deposit although I have already pay that. Each time when open it shows registration instructions although I am registered already. Some bicycles shows inside building and not accessible. I checked 3 bicycles shown in the map but can't find them in the street.

Tan. Dec 7, 2019

Terrible customer service. I was overcharged for $45 and I have contacted the customer service through the app 3 times, through the website twice and I still haven't heard back from them. Now that I can't even refund my deposit since I have negative balance. It is a really cool concept yet unfortunately poorly executed with terrible customer service.

Ric. B. Oct 16, 2018

Had a minor hiccup getting the code after downloading the app, but the support staff were very helpful. Using the bike was easy. My head is big, so the helmet was a squeeze. Bikes could have gears (internal hub would work well) and the seat would be best if it could go higher. I'm not tall.

A. G. u. Oct 8, 2018

My first ride went without complications and it was super easy to unlock the bike and lock it again. Just two things to note: the bike only has one gear and the helmet strap is slightly too big (even after adjusting) other than that perfect experience. :)

Phi. W. Jul 5, 2019

Ripped me off for $19.90 and no response to contact. Tried to get this sorted through the in app support on Sunday, nothing heard by Tuesday so sent an email. It's now Friday and I still haven't had a response. They've taken my money but it doesn't show in the app, so I can't use the bikes. I can't even get the deposit back despite never having unlocked a bike. Poorly designed app, terrible customer support. It's OK, I didn't want to eat this weekend anyway.

Pet. M. Mar 5, 2020

I've used this app a few times initially with great results. Great price and convenience. Now, although my account shows nearly a $20 credit, the app keeps asking me to pay a deposit before I can hire.....

A. G. u. Feb 1, 2019

Great idea, terrible execution. 1. Bikes are not where they are shown on the map 2. Many are damaged. Their quality is so low that pedals break, or the seat doesn't stay fixed, or the tyre has a chunk missing. 3. Loads of helmets are missing. 4. Many available bikes tell you they're unavailable. 5. Onzo doesn't answer their phone, respond to voice messages or requests for refunds due to damaged and unrideable bikes. It's not rocket science Onzo... Look at other cities around the world.

Kyl. M. Apr 24, 2019

Great idea, unfortunately poorly executed. The bikes are poorly maintained, most don't have helmets, some are missing pedals. It also seems there's no way to report maintenance. Would rather pay a little bit more to ride, and have bikes that are in a rideable state.

Kar. S. Nov 14, 2018

I love the concept and in theory it works great, but not being able to claim bikes makes for a really rotten user experience. I just tracked down three bikes in a row that had been claimed by the time I got to them, unfortunately wasting a half an hour that I could have just spent walking to my destination. If you could claim a bike that you must reach within five minutes so as to avoid wasting people's time, I would be more inclined to use this. In its current state though, I doubt I'll be attempting to use again any time soon.

A. G. u. Nov 11, 2018

Very very poor service. I was initially very excited about using Onzo because it is a great idea, but the whole experience has been quite sour for me. Firstly, after months of trying I still have been unable to find a bike I can use in my daily route that hasn't been critically damaged or left uncharged in a remote bush somewhere. What is the point of having such a service when you don't take the necessary measures to mitigate this? Secondly, the app is horrible. It is riddled with bugs (such as not being able to report damage for a bike that doesn't have juice left) and constantly asks you to register even when I have done this and paid the deposit. The insult here is that I can't even get my deposit refunded - first it would complain it couldn't do it, now it says its refunded successfully but no funds have been returned so I'm out of pocket! All in all a horrible start to what would have been a wonderful service. Whilst expensive I am using the alternative Lime as they delivery on what they've promised and don't take money from the customer before they've even had a chance to use it let alone not refund them for it. They also maintain their scooters which is paramount to such a service.
