I only used it to adjust the equalizer for better sound. Angel Pro 3, there are only two options, Bass and Treble. With that, app will only work if you have location allowed. This indicates they are using your location for internal purposes, possibly marketing which is odd as they already know your location based on where that shipped the product too. Besides functions, app is stable and not had any issues.
The app sort of works if you're willing to fight with it. I had to uninstall it and reinstall it twice, rebooting the phone between each, and then got the app to update the firmware on the pair of ultra pro 3s I purchased. Even with the updated firmware, the app frequently reports the various features won't work with my speakers, while other times they work fine. Hopefully Cambridge sound works will continue to work on the app.
Why is the app always running in the background even when I'm not using it? There's no option to back out except for force stoping. I like the EQ feature but the battery on the Ultra went from 80% to 60% within two songs. Also, the speaker doesn't connect for bluetooth icon but connected with the 2nd option for headset icon. Why is there two options for bluetooth and why does it come up as code not accepted when trying to sync with the bluetooth icon? A sign of what's to come? Booooooooooooooooo
Speaker works great with my samsung s5; However, the app totally fails to pair (either automatically via the app, or if I try to pair with Angle3ProAppxxx via settings/bluetooth). I see a button picturing the speaker with "Angle3ProApp"xxx below. I click the button and three nifty little dots bounce right and left, then they just stop; until I press the button again... repeat ad nausium, Really fools you into thinking it's going to work. What a complete waste of time for an EQ volume control app. :(
This does work if you have the appropriate speakers. However it appears that the equalization resets whenever the speakers are turned off? Unfortunately the manufacturer has confused everybody by producing multiple generations of the same speaker, some of which work with the app and some of which don't. And all those speakers look exactly the same so consumers can't even tell which generation they have. Hence the frustration and the low app rating.
Why does a speaker app need your location? The speakers are fantastic, the app is trash. It says that my speaker is supported, yet it won't connect to my angle 3 ultra and to get support through the app you need the speaker connected. It keeps crashing and I uninstalled, reinstalled and it still keeps bugging out. In short buy the speaker but don't download the app. Edit: Apparently the speaker I received is 3rd Gen not 4th, so I gave it 2 more stars then originally intended.
What a waste of an o-k product. I've had the speaker for about 3 and recently have been having trouble my with the sound ( unclear and gargled ) thought maybe if be downloaded the app it would help. It didn't. I couldn't even get it to connect to my ultra speaker. This sucks and I'll be looking for another speaker that has a longer lifespan.
Completely disappointed. This app and the devices it uses to daisy chain speakers are utterly disappointing. The sound quality drops to garbage levels when using the app to stream to multiple speakers. It actually gets worse when using surround mode. This, and the 3 speakers I have are less than 3' away from me during setup.
A pretty simple app to use to customize some basic speaker settings. It could use a battery power/charge remaining indicator. This would be a 6 star app if you could read the battery of each paired speaker in a surround sound compatible setup! Also the ability to group speakers, and independently control the group settings.
Will not connect with any of my phones.. location services issue.. it keeps wanting to for some reason Grant itself permissions yet it never puts itself on the list of apps that needs permissions so I am stuck in a loop where I cannot connect to the speaker at all. I really don't understand why that app needs location services to function because it should be able to function anywhere as long as it's connected to an oontz ultra 3 speaker which I am
Well, the sound is good, but the Alexa support is lousy. I am asking to play iheart radio, no support. I am asking to play a certain band or artist it tells me that I have to subscribe to the Amazon Music Service. The identical command to my Echo3 gives me the option to listen to similar music for free. Oontz does not, a deal breaker for me. In 3 days no answer from tech support. I will return it!
app doesn't show % battery life. but laptop does when bluetooth connected. also, no way to turn off speaker from app. why an app for only volume control. doesn't seem like they spent much time working on the app.
Loaded the first time. Connected a nice immediately lost the connection. Crashed. Will not download again. Gets stuck at 99%. You cannot connect with customer service until you connect with the speaker.
GARBAGE!!! The speaker it self is sounds great but.. this farce of an app is is completely utter garbage! You always need to uninstall an reinstall to connect after every use IF you actually get a connection to use the Alexa Bluetooth feature, which was the reason for the purchase to have a an actual dedicated portable Alexa speaker. I hope there are plans to fix this app so the speaker can be used as purchased
P.O.S. APP. What is the point of creating an app specifically for your speakers. the app does not work or will not connect to your speakers. this is a complete waste of time, don't bother with this app.
I don't get the hate. It works fine! Paired with my Note 20 and now I can add things to lists, check the weather, find out when sunset is...IN THE SHOWER! The speaker actually sounds pretty good!
App consistently renders "This feature is not supported" when trying to utilize EQ or other features. Takes multiple tries for it to randomly work. Get yer ducks in a row, probably return the speaker, as the sound isn't nearly as good as the old JBL Charge 3 it replaced.
I've owned several oontz speakers. Never had a problem until they forced the use of an app to connect it. Ive tried 100x times and it will not connect. This is so irritating
Have yet to actually get surround mode to work. Have 3 Oontz Angle 3 Ultra 4th Gen. App won't connect them. Thought is maybe a mismatching firmware issue. Updated 1 but the 2 that came as a pair keep timing out on update. Frustrating. I'd rather an option to at least update manually on their website like the previous generation. I can connect the pair that came together but of course you don't need the app for that anyhow. Making me think I should invest in a different brand.
It requires location access for some reason and refuses to connect to my speakers with no explanation or help of any kind. My phone is connected just fine, and I've tried connecting with and without music playing.
It takes a little understanding to "get the ha hang of it, but it's great and helpful. You can connect the speakers, if you have two in dual mode or surround. Has volume and simple equalizer. I like it.
I'm giving this two stars because there's really not much functionality to it. If you needed to connect more than one speaker, I guess you'd need it. Otherwise, any other feature it has is already contained in other apps, and executed much better.
The app needs a lot of work but I see great potential. if you use duel mode you get true stereo but if you turn on surround sound you lose true stereo so all the right speakers turn on or all the left speakers instead of a left and right channel like in duel mode which make the sound kind of jumbled at time. Hopefully they can integrate left and right channel stereo sound that work simultaneously with surround sound. I truly believe in the potential of these speakers
It's bad enough the speakers only connect for dual mode half the time, and I frequently have to tell my phone to forget the speakers to make dual mode work... I thought installing the app would make that better, but the app doesn't even recognize its own speakers are already connected..
Tried to DL this app to see if it would allow me to toggle my Oontz's built-in mic on and off. Installation stopped at 65% and spun for several minutes. When I finally got it installed it wanted my location, and when I denied the app closed. Love the speaker but the app is useless. Meanwhile, how do I know if the mic is on or off?
Speaker connected to my V40, no problem. But the app couldn't identify the speaker. All the app did was search & search. I followed all troubleshooting tips, with no luck. Tapped the *Help* but nothing appeared to happen. Great speaker, bad app.
Connected quickly and effortlessly. Allowed me to adjust treble and bass as advertised. Allowed me to check for firmware update as advertised. My only complaints are with the fact that I had to email support to verify that this is the official app. There is no link to this app on the Oontz website. There is also no mention of this app developer on the Oontz website nor in the manual.
Simplicity itself. Buy speaker, link speaker to phone, download app, open app and speaker detected immediately. Update of firmware is available via app and had no issues doing this via Bluetooth.
App has worked seamlessly so far. I have two speakers working and synced up great with no eq or volume control issues. Not sure why some people are having a hard time with it.
I love my oontz 3. And I love my oontz ultra... The one time it worked. Using this speaker is incredibly complicated for some reason, it often times one connect, it requires an app to use. I had it working at one point a few months ago, for about a week. It was wonderful. Then I got a new phone. Now I only periodically check for firmware updates on the off chance they have put out a fix for this application and speaker firmware. Maybe someday.
