Open Library

Some things are unacceptable. How is it possible that you cannot scroll both ways. When you try to pull down, the page always always refreshes, even with the account menu! Searching is limited within books. Brightness is very weak. The books are great though. But you can't enjoy that with all these aspects.

This app used to be so much fun to be on you could borrow any book but now they've changed it a lot. There were multiple books that used to be available but now it's says "Not in library" It says "null" instead of "join the waiting list" It's difficult go back to a page of a book because every time I try to scroll back it doesn't let me. The arrow buttons that go forward and backwards are missing. I liked the app the way it was before everything started going wrong.

I think we all have become too used to the commercial platforms that are sensitive to the utmost requirements of its user, even if some of the requirements are not absolutely necessary for the purpose of the app. I think, this app is highly underrated & unappreciated. I think, an initiative of an open library is extremely useful and important. Here, you will find original scanned copy of classic books that one can get their hands on in selected library around the world. I am super happy. 👍

i think this app is an incredibly useful service, but the ui makes for a challenging reading experience. there are menu elements that float over the screen at all times, reducing visibility for what you are reading, and you can't scroll up without refreshing the entire book and starting back at page 1. i suppose beggars can't be choosers, but i do wish i could have an unfettered view.

App facilitates use of the Open Library better than a browser would on a mobile device, but there are shortcomings. Firstly, scrolling is problematic if paging backward, but this can be worked around by using the page turning buttons. Secondly - this could be a deal-breaker on mobile - the zoom feature has too few "notches", so you can get stuck either with text that is too small or pages that are too wide. We really need continuous zooming capability or, if not achievable, then more notches.

For a couple of days, it was great for me. And then I can't seem to be able to read now cuz when i click read online it just stay there and kept on loading even though my internet's doing fine. I did eveeything. I uninstalled the app, restarted my phone, turned off the wifi and turned back it on but i don't really know now. The app is awesome...not anymore if i can't read.

Mixed experience. I want it to play in the background. Otherwise it is too easy to touch something on the screen and stop it by accident. But there are some great books and to find them free with audible is great. But computerized narrator has some shortcomings. Overall though it is a treasure trove!!!

A great platform to read hard to find or out of print books that I haven't seen in years but every once in awhile app just kicks me off and I have to uninstall and reload. Getting pretty tiresome.

The app is fine, I can find just about any book I could want or need. But WOW, the read-aloud is absolutely horrendous. I'm not mad about the TTS voices or accents, but the app has to stop the audio and buffer after every single sentence. Practically unusable for that.

This is a rare case of when the browser page is way better than the app. I love the browser page because it has almost every book and it easily accessible. This app isn't functional.

Abysmal. Reading in the app is next to impossible. Navigation controls are awful. The service is cool but the app needs a complete overhaul.

The text is way too small. I don't wanna use the audio because I got this book so I could read not listen to someone else read. Story choices and genres aren't very interesting to people like me. It's sad. Multiple of the same books just with different covers, sigh. Edit: I just recently discovered I can't go to my loans (my books) without waiting for ten minutes! I'm pretty sure you do get charged a late fee for the books, but if you can't get to them how are you supposed to read them/turn in?

just got the app last night. loads very slowly and every couple of minutes it skips ahead towards the end of the book and it takes forever to get back to my spot. also the text is very small and cannot be zoomed in or enlarged.

Unfortunately, there is no zoom so the books are too tiny to see on phone screen. I can use my login on a laptop or tablet, but even then I need to zoom it in. When I try to zoom in on phone, the text becomes blurry and unreadable . Without zooming, it is too small.

Has a lot of great books but the app itself is very poor. Reading experience is low. Side bar is annoying and doesn't hide despite settings. Reading settings aren't remembered and need to be adjusted every time opening book.

Utterly useless. Unless I'm missing something, there is no full screen mode. On my phone, the zóom doesn't work. Thanks to idiot publishers and lawyers, only PDF is available. It is marginally okay on a computer, but how anyone can read this on a cell phone is beyond me. They need to change the name to Closed Library. What a shame!

The books are great but the reading app is very difficult to use with android. I couldn't zoom or it would zoom too much or be too small to read. Had to go to my laptop to finish the book.

1/3rd. Of the viewing screen on the left side is taken up by the Open Library sign with rate us...etc. listed below the sign. This. Make's it harder to read the book because of the smaller space....also the borrowing time has changed from 2 weeks to now borrowing time is 1 hour.. I think the borrowing time should at least be 1 day. Not many people can read a book in 1 hour and it is annoying to have to go through the process every hour, your just getting into the book and get disrupted!

It would be a good app if you could zoom in and read it but the text is way too small if you could possibly update it or fix it so that you can zoom in that would be nice that way I wouldn't get migraines reading books because a text is too small

I continue to find this app difficult to use. Originally I found a book thought I wanted to read only to come back later and find it listed as not in the library. Overall, the app is not user-friendly.

Whats the purpose of this app giving books when I can't even properly read them. The books are so tiny and there's no zoom feature, so how can I even read the very tiny texts. Just ended up being frustrated

Just started reading a book I own but cannot find. Took a look and it was here.Quick and easy. Thank you. I like that you can zoom in. Not sure if it saves your place yet. Never seen a bookmark. But it's late. Will update as I use the app more.

The website is fine but the apps interface is really bad.. just having an option of hiding the blue bar that tells me to return the book or how much longer I can borrow it for would highly increase the rating.

This phone app is not usable. The reason is that the "full screen"view does not fill the whole screen on my moto e5 and there is no zoom, so the text cannot be read. Boo!

App jus tneeds it be more user friendly and get the bugs out. I found books from my childhood for free! I recommend use the browser rather than this app. It's more user friendly.

This app only shows scanned images of the book pages. There is no way to adjust the size of the image that I can see, and the image is ridiculously small.

Works, but barely. Bad app for a good website. You can't even scroll up, just very clunky to use. Needs a fullscreen feature as well.

Basically, it's an app that probably uses an embedded browser, with quarter of the screen always blocked.

Great app with great content, but sometime when scrolling down the screen, the unsecessary reload happend and that's a bit anoying

A lot of good books but the visuals are sooo poor. Some of the pages of books are even blurred. I heard so much About open library but I'm disappointed
