Open Link With...

Open the current web page in a browser in another app!
Did it ever happen to you? You click a link (let's say Youtube link) and the system does not ask you anything and opens the link in the browser. And you are stuck in Youtube web page instead of watching the video in the native app.

There are 2 options for you. You either watch the video in the web or you remember the name of the video and search it in the app. Well, not anymore.

With OpenLinkWith, you can share any webpage with it and it will ask you which applications to open the link with.

Although the original intent of the application is to direct web pages to apps, it can even be used to switch between apps. Imagine you have 2 Twitter clients in your phone. You can open a tweet in the official Twitter application and then switch to an another app with the same tweet opened. Cool, hah?

Although the problem discovered above is not huge, it is missing in the Android ecosystem. And I couldn't find anything doing this. So I wrote one. :)

I hope you find this useful. The idea is still immature. Please help me by trying it ans sending feedback to me.

The application is open source and the source can be found here:https://github.com/tasomaniac/OpenLinkWith/

Amazing, my man. And seemingly so simple. I can't believe it took so long for me to find this, and I can't believe that I need an app to pass a parameter to another app on android cause neither the system or the apps offer that functionality, while in other systems I would just call the terminal and paste the parameter without any problem, as this is a basic functionality that every system should possess.

Thank god (and the developer :) that someone finally made an app that does this specific function. Previously if I would get stuck in a browser, I'd have to share the link to an email, then select the link in the email to be prompted to open it in the actual app (most frequently, youtube). I still need to share but it's now a 2 or 3 step process rather than 9 or 10!

This is the perfect app to open anything on my phone that has been set to browser automatically. Just paste the link and it's all ready to go, you can change the settings according to yourself, has really helped me a lot and has been my everyday tool for more than 5 months. Plus it has no ads so win win.

Sent an email to the dev and he responded within a few days. Solid communication. Unfortunately he wasn't able to resolve the issue I'm having (Amazon for Tablets app) because Amazon hasn't updated the app in quite a while. Was able to find a workaround with it though and now everything is working perfectly. I've also found this app useful for forcing several other apps to open when clicking on their link in Chrome rather than opening in Chrome. Good job, Dev!

Looks like a great replacement for feature lost in Android 12 (ability to select browser when opening a page). The app though should make it clear that an experimental feature needs to be enabled first, before the app can pretend to be a browser.

My oneplus 6t is garbage. It doesn't do anything intuitively. I need workaround after workaround to get it to behave normally. It runs this garbage caked "oxygen os" which causes all the problems. This app allows me to open YouTube videos with YouTube when my garbage phone doesn't give me the option to. I just share the web link to this app and BOOM! it opens with YouTube

I always like to chose which browser will open a link as I use one for entertainment, one for school work and one for my job. Losing this essential feature in android really had me down so I'm glad there is a way to fix this.

Edit: Yes i have changed the rating as this seems not to b the apps fault. Google app appears to open hyper links with google redirects rather than a direct links (which would open inside the sites app) ... Guess nothing can b done about it from third party apps. - - - - Partly worked. But the option to always never shows... With Firefox Beta this app will only redirect one time

Awesome. I use a bunch of browsers and Android 12 forced one to be default (ie. I couldn't choose what browser I wanted to open links with each time I opened one). "Open Link With" fixed this ... this is invaluable. Thanks.

Wrote to Said twice about this app over a period of several weeks now, still no effort of a fix. Tap on a link to be opened, up will appear multiple choices. Choose this app to open link, tap 'always,' app opens nothing then disappears not to be seen again. I like the premise of this app. Can anyone please help?

It's a cool app-but guy, what I'm actually looking for is a reverse of what you have designed. I'm looking for a link opener that can open any link without having the native app installed, that way I can open the link in any of my devices without having the native app installed in all of them. I've searched through all app stores but found none close to this except yours. So giving the right leverage, you can achieve this in your subsequent updates and you will be the best.

I admit it took me a while to figure out how it works, the first time I gave up since I didn't dare to use the experimental features. But months later luckily I decided to install it again to give it another chance. I tried the setting as browser experimental option and then I saw just WOW - WORKS LIKE CHARM - SO EXTREMELY USEFUL WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT IT AGAIN !

Thank you for this app man it really is a life saver a life saver. One small problem tho some browsers like kiwi browser are appearing twice in the "open with" pop up. Other than that it's a perfect app and it does what it says perfectly.

The "Add to Home Screen" functionality is so powerful it's ridiculous. Now I can have YouTube playlists set to open in the YouTube app on my home screen directly! Not to mention the core functionality of the app is super useful. Brilliant all around 🎉

Open Link With... is a "must have" app on all my phones. I've used it from my first phone running 2.33 and now on my A50 running 11. I have always used the advanced and experimental features with no problems. Open Link With... saves me time, headache and all around lets me use my phones the way I want to. Thank you Said.

This app worked perfectly on my Note 4 every time, but since changing to my Google Pixel it seems to have stopped functioning. When I share with 'Open Link With' there are no app options, it just defaults to the behaviour set by the browser.

Set as Browser does not work on Android 10 phone. A recognized link always opens in the system default browser (Firefox) and then I have to share it to OLW, then it will open the right app. OLW doesn't appear as one of the choices in Default Apps / Browser App.

Completely useless app, does not fix the issue if links do not open in app. In fact all it does is saves a particular link (for example cool cars fb) to open in app but once it saves and you click on that link again i chrome, only fb app starts with your feed and does not show that group. If you click on any other fb link in chrome it will not take you to fb app because you have to complete all steps for each link separately 😆 this is beyond stupid and useless. Waste of time.

Honestly I'm a bit confused, I get a link for amazon in my messenger app and I had previously set that Amazon's links get opened in app - except it still opens in a browser. Am I doing something wrong? it does redirect after I manually redirect it everytime... but not automatically like I thought.

Absolutely fantastic. This app is the gold standard of how links should open in apps naturally, with choices in a simple UI. Props to the developer for creating such a fantastic QOL app! P.s to those who complain "it doesn't work", read the instructions carefully first. It works.

Very good utility; an essential workaround for Android's failure to open links in native apps. Does not seem to have advertisements or IAPs, but I feel like I need to support whoever made this nice little app, so here I am, writing a review, which I basically never do. I love when my phone isn't tugging aggressively at my wallet.

I want to open the links on youtube on their native apps but this app does nothing for it. It simply doesn't work. The irony is the developer says to email him before giving 1 star and yet when u click on that link, it is rather a sharing the app feature as opposed to contact him through email.

M. H. Feb 22, 2020

Only supports a handful of apps, like Youtube and Amazon. Almost any other links will be opened in Chrome. The browser most android devices have by default has an "open in chrome" option to begin with making this redundant for most situations.

This is the most used and useful app I have on my phone and I really don't know what I would do without it. Is there a way to donate money to the dev of this app because they definitely deserve it for creating such a brilliant tool. FYI - the link to your website in Google Play doesn't work / Suggestion - if you're looking for an idea for a new app, what about creating one where you can copy text from any website or app? I'd definitely pay for an app like this if you created it \(^-^)/♡

I hit the button in my share menu, and it does open the link in my youtube client... But, it doesn't show me the option menu to redirect all shortened youtube links to the app. I can't find a way to add it manually.

This app works marvelously! The BEST for setting default app to open certain types of links in. I have not the slightest idea why Android can't implement this into their OS. It's much needed.

Excellent app, it does exactly what it promises. There's only one minor issue, if possible I'd like to disable the toast notification that appears every time I open a link.
