openScale light

Monitor and track your weight, BMI, body fat, body water, muscle and other body metrics in an open source app that:
* has an easy to use user interface with graphs,
* doesn't require you to create an account,
* can be configured to only show the metrics you care about, and
* respects your privacy and lets you decide what to do with your data.

Bluetooth scales (pro version)

openScale has built-in support for a number of Bluetooth (BLE or "smart") scales from many manufacturers, e.g. Beurer, Sanitas, Yunmai, Xiaomi, etc. (see model list below). Together with our users we constantly improve and extend the set of supported scales and in many cases pick up where the original app falls short.

For scales without Bluetooth, or Bluetooth scales not (yet) supported by openScale, measurements can be manually entered in a quick and easy way.

Note: Please install openScale pro version to enable Bluetooth support

Privacy

This app has no ads and requests no unnecessary permissions. The location permission is only needed to find a Bluetooth scale. Once found the permission can be revoked (or never granted if Bluetooth isn't used).

Supported metrics

Weight, BMI (body mass index), body water, muscle, LBM (lean body mass), body fat, bone mass, waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio, hip circumference, waist-hip ratio, visceral fat, chest circumference, thigh circumference, biceps circumference, neck circumference, body fat caliper, BMR (basal metabolic rate), TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) and Calories. Each entry can also have an optional comment.

Note: don't worry if you think the list is too long: metrics you don't use can be disabled and hidden.

Other features

- Synchronize your weight to GoogleFit with openScale sync
- Resizable widget to show the latest measurement on the home screen

I have been trying body measurements apps for the last week and this is the one I'm going to keep, as it does almost everything I need. The only stats missing are blood pressure and heart rate measurements. It's too bad this app is getting low ratings due to the removal of Bluetooth support into the paid "pro" version, because even without it, it's one of the best of it's kind.

The app is quite useless if you want to sync it with a Bluetooth scale - though you can add the scale in Settings, you can't connect (to get data) in the main screen. Either pay for the pro version, or download full version from f-droid. The app itself is quite good, so it worth supporting its developer.

I get it has a lot of data and aside is confusing and have no ways to change body water from % to lb, free version won't allow sync with my scale. At least offer a trial time so users could make sure it will works before purchasing the pro version and avoid refunds in case it doesn't.

It may be open source, but it's saved all the best parts for the ones you have to pay for. this app does absolutely nothing. It won't sink, it won't do much of anything, in the menu is very confusing.

Simply a bad idea. Dated interface. It asks money for what Mi Fit would do for free, like Google Fit sync. And it crashes each time it was supposed to sync with a Mi Scale.

Doesn't seem to work with Bluetooth scales unless you pay for the full version so you don't even know how well it works, and the UI/UX is sub par.

the UI change is horrible and the app's charts do not scale properly when new data is added. older version was bearable but the new ones are becoming worse

Seems to imply that it supports Bluetooth scales, and even has the ability to scan for them. However, it cannot actually do anything with that data, so it's unclear what purpose it serves.

Extortionate business practices from this developer. Developer removed bluetooth from this "free" app and moved bluetooth connection to the paid "pro" version. Then added syncing as a feature on a third app that you also need to pay for.

Bluetooth was free on this app, after update surprise you need to pay, now it's useless... For the developer: turning an open source project into a paid product by slashing basic functionality was a very bad deicion, read some marketing/UX books and don't make people hate you... or if you want money get a job, but don't kill the project!

If you need to connect your Bluetooth scale you can find a free and open source version of this on github. THIS IS TOTALLY USELESS

If you have a Bluetooth scale this is useless. They claim to support it, but as you as you need it, they ask you to upgrade so technically this app doesn't support it. Don't waste your time with this app.

usefull for xiaomi mi scale. The free in this playstore is useless. But you can get full working app from fdroid for FREE. You need to add and pair with mi scale manually.

Great. Very useful linear graphs.

Dan. R. Aug 6, 2019

Doesn't actually connect to bt scales. Have to pay for that.

Sla. U. May 10, 2020

Need the pro version for the basic operation of connecting to the scale?!? This is a joke!

Ton. M. Nov 5, 2020

Does not support bluetooth

"Open source" that you have to pay to use any features for.

Duc. P. May 17, 2020

This app is so bad. Practically useless.

Tom. G. Oct 28, 2021

You need pro for this to be any real use.
