I am appreciative of the content and ability to access the material for free by only setting up a free user account. My professor has chosen OpenStax as our only textbook. I do agree that there should be some quality of life updates such as auto screen rotation and pinch to zoom. I use a tablet and am older than what I suspect the normal student is. The ability to adjust the font size is important to me. The autorotation is a convenience that seems to be ubiquitous in all other reading apps. Thx

Considering students seem to be constantly on an electronic device, I was happy to have found an app that enabled them to access their textbook at any time (and available for both android and iOS). However, students have voiced a great deal of frustration about, and disappointment in, not having the options to highlight, add notes, and bookmark pages, which has reduced the desire to use the app.

Seems great from first impression. I don't feel the need for videos though. Wouldn't mind subscribing if there was an offline feature. Like downloading a section to view offline. I travel around and I'm frequently offline. Another feature that would be cool is a night mode. Like I'm laying down at night in a hotel room and not having a mass of white light shining in my eyes.

Seeing the amount of resources available for free is a wonderful option. There are price and subscription tiers to access some content but to get the general basics of the material needed is free. In addition the topics are organized in a way that matched how my syllabus was scheduled which made it easier to go back and review things. Love the app and I'd recommend giving it a shot!

The books are well explained, lengthy and it gives you this kind of assurance to rely and depend on it. Honestly, I have totally enjoyed every session of OpenStax+SE. It gives the Opportunity for middle, high and college students to enhance their scope of learning and it makes learning easier. You learn at your own convenient time. It is an app which is meant to be renowned because it will help to students to learn better, faster and assimilate easier.

The Open Source content is absolutely amazing but the app itself does not remember where you were between relaunches. Unfortunately on some phones with more conservative battery management this means you have to keep navigating from the beginning back to where you were if the app exits whilst in the background. Example: Switching to the calculator and back. It is quite a painful experience and worse than using a traditional textbook in terms of workflow.

I got the app so I can read my book for Biology class. I was unable to highlight like it said I would be able to. I thought maybe creating an account would fix this problem. I created an account and verified it with no problems. Then when I went to login the log in button stayed grey and I couldn't click it. I even tried changing my password in case I had it wrong. Still did the same thing. I updated my phone, and reinstalled the app. Still nothing. Why can't I log in? Seems like a huge hassle.

Book works well enough. Can't log in; made account on laptop, but when I try to log in on my phone it doesn't recognise my email or account. But if I try to make a new account, it says my email is already in use, so that feels a little shoddy. Also disappointing the big Canadian universities aren't listed. Also sucks you can't highlight or flag images/figures for review. Otherwise great concept, and helpful.

This app is useful just to read. I'm not able to high-light or make the front bigger in size. I also don't like how I have to go back a page to read the next section of the chapter. I wish some sort of 'next' button was available. I hardly like to use the app. I usually just use the online version on my laptop (which can be very inconvenient) but it's much more simple to use.

I'm really grateful that OpenStax is providing so many good quality textbooks for free, thank you! That is worth 5 stars alone. I do wish we could adjust text size and copy text onto our clipboard. Also would be nice if we could zoom in on illustrations, right now the periodic table is barely readable.

Very convenient! I find the menu organization very intuitive. The only real downsides: the font size or zoom cannot be changed, and text highlighting is not supported, even though account sync is.

I am very dissatisfied with this app. My university chose this platform or us but it misses a read-aloud function alongside an option to highlight content. At least in the browser version I am able to highlight. A simple update could fix this.

The text size definitely must be manually scalable. Currently the text size depends on the device settings and this is horrible. Please, please give the user the option to adjust the text size

I want to like your app so badly. It's organization? Magnificent. UI? Pretty good! But when I open up a chapter and scroll down once? Yeah it crashes. Every ... time..

Great App works better than the PDF's with only 1 caveat. There is no zoom feature or "text size" setting and with some of the maths having to display indices, it can be really difficult to read them. The PDF's are of course resizable on screen.

Great but the video audio is terrible. They offer videos explain the chapters but the audio sounds like the instructor is outside so all you hear is wind. I'm very disappointed in that because the videos seem very helpful but listening to the wind is like nails on a chalkboard.

The app gives free resources which is helpful but i couldn't sign in. I have signed in with my account in the openstax website so i tried to log in, they said no account found. So i tried to sign in and everything went well so when i logged in again it still says no account found. Tried to go to the sign in page but that takes me back to the log in page. I am frustrated. The website is far better.

I like this app. It has the subject I was looking for. My only problem is that it lags too long. I experienced spending 30 mins to open a chapter and it was very annoying. But the information I get from this app is very helpful. I hope you add dark mode in your updated version.

A very good study app 👌 which contains thousand of schools & colleges but the first thing, i love every chapter of physics . it is very helpful to every student also for me . every chapter is deeply defined that clears every confusion . I am very thankful to all developers and the people who always think of help . I am very glad . Thanks

This site is amazing. It could save millions of dollars and is even used by my adult education program to save low income students money. However, this app is short in the way that it only contains American schools, not Canadian, and even after putting down as an adult ed program from the states, it still won't let me log in. The app needs some work for sure.

Calculus volume 2 now has "math processing error" instead of displaying formulas and notation, which makes it completely useless. I appreciate the free textbooks, but the app could use a better design. The most frustrating thing is getting random "access denied" messages and having ng to "login" by selecting a school. Why is this needed to access the free content that is available on the website without a log in?

This app is phenominal. It has a lot of subjects covered interactively. Additional help with concise and curated videos make it even more awesome. I have rated 5 stars, the most I could. There is only one request though, please make the books downloadable so that the text can be accesses anytime. Thanks RICE University, you are making such a mark on this work.

4 stars for the amount of content, but the app could use some quality of life features. One thing that would be nice is when you select a textbook if Instead of just sorting by high school vs college if you could also see them sorted by field (See all the math textbooks, or only the science textbooks).

Worst experience I ever had with an app. I thought I would be able to study for my bio major and instead they don't even have videos for bio even though they act like they do before you sign up. Then shortly after I got the membership my phone crashes whenever I open up the app. I asked for a refund and they told me to cancel my subscription but how can I do that when I can't even access the app because it constantly crashes.

You are unable to sign into the app. Extra resources are only for some chapters but since you can't sign in to the app you can't use them. Customer service was contacted and they were pleasant but with no results. It is a great idea but not the best execution.

Super helpful. It gives you access to a variety of college and high school books and it helps you learn with videos related to the topics and hand notes for personal review. Highly recommend!!

Meh...font too small to read on phone, could not zoom in. was hoping it might have an audio function so i could listen while working out. no luck. no videos relevant to the subject i was there for. might be ok on tablet for reading. need a kindle version.

Great app with plenty of free and high quality content. My only comment is that it would be great to be able to select and highlight sections of the text. Also to have the ability to change the size of the text. Thank you for sharing all these knowledge for free with the world!.
