OpenTable: Restaurants Near Me

This app is fairly useless when trying to get into a very popular restaurant. After setting notifications for multiple days at a restaurant that's always booked weeks in advance, I've gotten several notifications of an available table while I had my phone in hand, but when clicking the notification, nothing happens. The restaurant doesn't keep a wait list, so there's no other way to try to get in.

It's better to just use the website. If you put in to get a notification from the app when a particular restaurant begins accepting reservations for a certain date, you won't get it. Often, when trying to make a reservation, the app just crashes and I end up going to the website. Unreliable for alerts, unreliable for reservations - so, what's the point?

For years this app works off and on. STILL can't do many simple things, freezes repeatedly. Tiresome to navigate and given the complexity of the rewards point system, almost not worth the bother. Have made many reservations that worked well with the restaurants, but problem continues with the haphazard operation of the app itself, getting logged in, etc. They should be way better by now...It's 2022.

When trying to make a reservation at a restaurant that requires a credit card to hold a table, the app shuts down without any explanation. I had to make the reservation online an create another Open Table account. What a hassle! I'm lucky the reservation time wasn't taken by the time I went through all the extra work. Plus, I can't seem to access this new account through the app, since when I log off, it prompts me for my phone number and logs me back into my first account.

Really loved this app, but lately I'm being added to restaurant mailing lists when I know I've selected not to be added. It's happened with every reservation I've made in the past six weeks. Please fix. I do not want restaurant emails and I'm tired of having to unsubscribe. Other than that, app is great!

Used to be a good app but not anymore. App takes forever to load, freezes, or shows a message "something went wrong" when trying to verify account or when trying to make a reservation. If you somehow managed to make a reservation you also cannot make modifications like before. I also tried to go to OpenTable website to make a reservation instead. The website just kept crashing. OpenTable you need to fix your app and website.

Garbage. You can't cancel reservations from the app. That's a really straightforward and basic feature that should be seamless to implement. You can't book another reservation either until you cancel your current reservation. Really inconvenient when you need to call the restaurant to cancel, and they don't open for another 6 hours.

Worthless if you need to manage a reservation. No way to add or change the number in your party, will only let you change your phone number and put in a special request. Had to call the restaurant anyway so defeated the whole purpose of having the app. Also when I want to make reservations for specific town I don't want to see restaurants in neighboring areas

Extremely annoying that app, unlike the website on a real computer, shows noevident way to search for/specify a specific restaurant to reserve sapce at. This makes the app very cumbersome, forcing a lot of scrolling thru' options to find the desired restaurant if it's there at all among countless options listed.

This app is no longer giving what it was suppose to gave. It is now setup to pick & choose if points will be added when a reservation is fulfilled. The points is the only reason I use the app. Also modifying a reservation could be so much better. Make it easier to add/sub the number of guest.

This app is so much easier than calling the restaurant. The app could be improved by making it easier if a time or number of people in a party has to be changed. As of now, the reservation has to be cancelled and a new reservation reserved, but if the time slots remaining are taken ur just out of luck.

The app works very well I'm happy with it in general but I find the search filters difficult to navigate, QOL upgrades could include tagging restaurants by cuisine or allergen lifestyle preferences. Menus that are gluten free or vegan specifically. Its difficult to find restaurants that are vegan

I can only use this app successfully on a tablet. On PC, it asks for a phone verification, and it sends a code which is not accepted by the app. On my Samsung phone, it looks like it accepts a reservation, but the registration is not registered. Very frustrating!

I book restaurants once a week for 4 - 8 people for a group dinner. OpenTable is very convenient and easy to use. It is very helpful to get updates and reminders. I only wish more restaurants were on the app.

Issues from end to end when creating reservations especially any that require a credit card, also a lot of reservations do not get communicated to the restaurant end. These specific issues have been existent for too long. Mass inconvenience for staff AND guest!

Pretty easy to use and straight forward. That's what I like. No huge ads... And gets what I want out of a reservation app. Giving it a 4 star because I wish it would cross out times that are unavailable though instead of deleting them.

Unable to book a reservation. I get to the book reservation screen, the app completely freezes. Also, the seating options and times available are wrong. If you go directly to the site and compare with the app, they're completely different.

So helpful when you aren't sure where to eat and everywhere is busy! Instead of walking restaurant to restaurant, only to be told about the hour+ wait time, OpenTable shows you where you can get in and served quickly! Intuitive interface and ability to add/invite friends is great!

This application does what I wanted to do, except that while trying to make a reservation there is no way to change the date while using my tablet. Thankfully I had my PC close by to save the day. All the reservations I've made with this app have been honored and timely it has been great to have a way to create nice times for me my family and my friends in one place.

I have used Open Table for many years, especially when traveling. It has been convenient and easy. I like knowing that I have a reservation when I need it and knowing which restaurants have open tables ahead of time. Only once did I have a problem and it was not Open Table's fault. It was the restaurant's fault. They overbooked and if they were a person, I would have called them conceited. We have never gone back. We found a lovely restaurant just a few doors down the street.

Unable to complete reservations on android phone. Apparently this is an android problem and not an iphone issue. You can search for a reservation but when it comes to actually reserving a table, the app becomes unresponsive. My sister was able to complete the reservation on her iphone. I uninstalled the app and installed it again but to no avail. It still wouldnt work. If you cant make a reservation, whats the point of the app?

Was a great app and service until their move to "passwordless" logins. I can successfully log in about one out of every ten attempts, and I have to wait hours or days between tries. Enter my email, get the code, enter the code, get "Something went wrong" message, try again. Over and over and over and over. No response from support. Hope the idiot who made that decision has lost his or her job. Uninstalling.

OpenTable on-line does not accept code sent to phone, says "something went wrong, ask for another code. When you do and enter new code, get same message. Only way I can get this to work is do reservation on-line instead of desktop. Very frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Using android phone, scrolling from restaurant selection to restaurant selection does not always work so you end up not seeing all options.

The search feature is terrible. Even if you know the restaurant and city, OpenTable can't find it. The best way to reserve what you want is to research elsewhere then click reserve from the restaurant's website. OpenTable will suddenly find what you want. At that point reserving is easy.

Better Communication! I had two experiences where I made a reservation, and I arrived at the restaurants, and they were closed. It would be nice to have live updates, especially when you live in a large metroplex and sometimes drive an hour or more to try new restaurants.

Haven't used this app in a while. Used to be able to make a reservation in a few seconds. Took several minutes of verifying and finding new buttons to confirm the reservation.

Application freezes at reservation request. Running it on Note 9 via wifi with 900MBPS upload and download. I tried clearing cache memory, the uninstall and reinstall, but no luck. Since it locks up with no means to move forward, I consider the application useless and give it 1 star. I recommend an application update.

Most of the time it works but don't always get credit for reservation. It is probably lack of training on the restaurant end maybe? Pays very little for as many visits it requires to get rewards or rewards expire prior to obtaining enough to get credit for them. Dine Rewards is $20 for every 4 visits instead of the 20 it takes on Open Table. Good number of restaurants on Open Table thpugh. It is easy to make the reservation. Not so easy to change.

I received no notice of expiring points especially during Covid restrictions. In light of this reprehensible policy, you leave me no alternative but to never use this app again. What a waste of my time and anyone else's for that matter! Businesses who have been charged a commission are being overcharged and should also be aware that clients could even consider going somewhere else because of the bad taste left in their mouths.
