Works when you first setup a profile but then stops working after a few hours. Android 9, latest versions of apps and plugin, disabled battery optimizations on Tasker, plugin, and openvpn...
does not work. I run android 9, and openvpn for android 0.7.8.
Installed Android Q beta 5 on my Pixel 2 XL and this plugin no longer works. Bummer! Update - works after uninstalling/reinstalling plugin
Works great. Didn't find any purchase option, though.
Works great, just make sure you use OpenVPN for Android and not the official OpenVPN Android app.
What is working openvpn version? i have trouble on latest version.
Works as intended on Android 10.
does not support latest version of openvpn
Does what it says. Android P. Android Q. Works well.
cant install it anymore
Update the icons for god's sake
Not much to say aside from the fact that it works quickly and easily - perfect. Up to 11/17 - now it keeps saying that I need to install OpenVPN for Android, which is installed... I am not going to remove stars to hold you hostage until you fix this - just please do so sooner rather than later as I use it a lot!
Unfortunately it didn't work with the latest openvpn app, and I keep getting install failed trying to install the older version. Also from what I can tell, this app offers a disconnect and resume vpn function but not an ability to query is the Vpn is currently connected and to which server.
Not the prettiest of UI but it works a treat. OpenVPN Connect 0.6.63 doesn't want to work with it (I can't mark it trusted, just keeps asking) but 0.6.60 works just fine. Install F-Droid and get it from there.
This doesn't work with OpenVPN Connect (the official OpenVPN app). It forces you to use "OpenVPN for Android" developed by Arne Schwabe. This app isn't up to date with the latest OpenVPN standards. This presents security issues and I don't know when Arne is going to update.
Application needs an extra permission to communicate with openvpn for android, but it will not "stick" when you grant it on the app setting page. Because of this, it can't communicate with openvpn so it's useless.
Keep having this issue with the plugin where it doesn't seem to authenticate to the server, even when I store the credentials from the OpenVPN for Android UI
totally confusing, and the author's web page is of no help. I'm not too Android savvy, and I'm always amazed at the apps that are so user-unfriendly from the start.
This does exactly what it's meant to do. The only feature I wished it had is the ability to connect to the last used VPN instead of choosing one from the list.
Simple and effective. Works with the latest OpenVPN for Android release. It's no longer possible to just turn the VPN off with an Intent, so you need something like this plugin.
Brilliant and useful plugin but sadly no longer updated. The frustrating thing is, there is no alternative. Please update this!!
I wish there was a way I could use a event based profile. When the connection is changed the plugin sends out a intent or use AutoApps system to inform a change has been made. Or a way to poll the status of the connection. I have task where I like to poll the current status of the VPN.
Since the latest version it doesn't work anymore. "OpenVPN for Android must be installed."
And it would be better if you add an option to hide the launcher icon.
Works and it only took me a few minutes to set up. Thanks!
By the time I reconfigured Open VPN, google had re-updated it back to the latest release. You need to make the plugin work with the latest release!!
Needed a way to turn VPN off when the screen goes off and reconnect when iy goes back on, on an Android TV (runs Android 7), tasker and this plugin did the job perfectly. Thanks.
